Hello, Watchdawgs and families! We are so excited about this session of the Student Voices Journalism Club. Butler media majors are working with IPS students at James Whitcomb Riley School #43 and the Butler Lab School #55 to create media reports. We have an in-school program at School #43 on Mondays and an after-school club at School #55 on Wednesdays. Meet our coaches and see the first media projects, “Show Us Your School!” inside!

Student Voices Summer Camp!

Student Voices is showing young people how to be 'watchdawgs'.

What does that mean? For journalists, the watchdog role is an essential part of the profession. In this time of so much information and misinformation, it’s even more important for young people to have the skills and tools to find the facts, make informed decisions, and communicate in an effective and compassionate manner.

In addition to the Journalism Clubs during the school year, Student Voices will have a week-long summer camp in 2024!

There will be scholarships available. Registration will begin this winter and spots will fill up fast!

BRAINSTORMING & INTERVIEWING

Our watchdawgs wasted no time in in coming up with ideas and questions for the first video project. They used the most important tools of reporters: the 5 Ws and the H. Who? What? When? Where? Why? and How? GOOD QUESTIONS

All storytelling starts with good questions.

The coaches worked with the watchdawgs to develop reporting techniques for their Showcase video projects through interviewing activities.
