Where ORBE began...
We looked a little different, we started our journey as a couple of friends deciding to give owning a hair salon a go.
Not really having any foresight on what our future held, we were however so driven by a passion and love for our craft and our industry. We are so proud to be still here 30 years later! We have created beautiful looks for TV, Fashion Runways— both nationally and internationally— numerous fashion shoots, and have had so many amazing experiences.
However nothing is more special than the support we have had by so many of our clients. We are eternally grateful that we have built so many beautiful relationships. Training and education has always been of a high priority, shaping the careers of many young people.
We have seen over 50 stylists become qualified, so thank you to our teams past and present. We now have two stunning salons in Norwood and North Adelaide. Thank you to all who have helped create our magic.
30 years on... What was happening?
2004
Facebook, now known as Meta, launched and the fashionable Motorola Razr came out. UGGs were worn by the hottest celebrities while Kelly Clarkson was making chunky highlights a thing.
Quentin Tarantino released his blockbuster film Pulp Fiction. In the same year, Princess Diana set off a media frenzy with her iconic revenge dress. While the beloved Jennifer Anniston ignited a “hair revolution” with choppy, layered locks.
2014 2024
Top knots were all over runways, Kim Kardashian’s controversial Paper Magazine cover came out while skin-tight ripped jeans had a chokehold on the fashion industry. George Clooney marries the stunning Amal Alamuddin in Venice.
Chunky statement jewellery is in, sicked hairstyles are the go-to, ballet core is everywhere and Taylor Swift has taken over the world with her Eras Tour.
We have been honoured to receive a number of salon awards since 2019. None of which would have been possible without the loyalty and support of our wonderful clients and the dedication of our talented team.

Runway ready with a beautiful purpose
On Friday, 24 May we donated our time to the KickStart for Kids Against Period Poverty Friday Fundraiser at SkyCity’s SOL Rooftop Bar, where we had the pleasure of styling the hair and makeup of KALOU models.
The models, draped stunningly in SA labels Sunset Lover and couture+love+madness, were a part of the event’s fashion parade.
The event raised an incredible $35,000 towards Period Poverty in SA, a cause we were passionate to donate our time to.

Metallic is in
Metallic clothing has been making regular appearances on fashion runways, celebrity events and headlines of news outlets. This year, the flashy metallic is becoming a casual fashion trend among influencers and a statement piece in people’s daily outfits.
Metallic pants also come in vivid colourways like pink, green and blue which are often easier to style and balance out with a simple crop top, for example.
If you’re looking for ways to subtly incorprate the metallic look, think metallic boots and jewellery statements.

Skirt
Although it may seem like a metallic skirt would be hard to pull off, it is easier to wear and style than you think. A metallic skirt can be dressed up or down just like a denim skirt, and the results are beautiful.
Metallic skirts can be commonly found in pleated midi and bodycon styles of different lengths. Try combining a shiny bodycon skirt with a black fitted sweater and leather jacket or a belted denim jacket. Or, for a more low-key outfit, wear a silver pleated midi skirt with a white button-up shirt and simple black flat shoes.
Shoes
If you pair metallic shoes with the appropriate colors and accessories, they can give your style a distinctive touch. Wearing them with monochromatic colors like gray, white, or black is a classic strategy. Metallic shoes look great with distressed denim, a white basic t-shirt, and a black blazer. Or, consider pairing metallic heels or sandals with a skirt for a more feminine appearance. If you want to show off your gorgeous shoes, wear a short skirt or dress. A pleated midi skirt, for instance, would be stunning!
Jewellery
Mexico 66 Silver/OffWhite
Jewellery is probably the easiest way to add metals to your wardrobe, and it’s one of the biggest jewelry trends since 2023, along with bold earrings and colored gemstones. For trendy metallic necklaces look for chokers and options that have heavy chains. Pick earrings that are sculptural or oversized and rings that are either simple, natural shapes or large and showy. Bangles are popular bracelet options, especially when stacked with chain styles. In the past, fashion rules advised against wearing silver and gold jewelry at the same time. But combining these metals has become acceptable in recent years and is another way to add interest to an outfit.

30 Years of Business: Pearls Return in 2024

Our dedication to our clientele has endured for the same reason as pearls, our anniversary celebration is about looking ahead with excitement into the future as much as back at our accomplishments.
This year we see pearls making a return, taking centre stage on fashion week catwalks all around the world. Pearls are everywhere, from stylish jewellery to creative items embellished with pearls, and we are thrilled to be a part of this iconic style.

Happy Clothes
A Film About Patricia Field
During the 2023 Adelaide Film Festival 18 - 29 October we had the pleasure of sponsoring the South Australian premiere of Happy Clothes: A Film About Patricia Field in affiliation with Adelaide Fashion Week.
The film, directed by Michael Selditch, was a deep dive into Patricia Field’s fascinating life of fashion and costuming royalty. Patricia has famously created iconic onscreen looks including: Carrie Bardahw’s tutu in Sex and the City, Miranda Priestly’s white power quiff in The Devil Wears Prada and more recently in Emily in Paris.
As our second year sponsoring this amazing event, we had the pleasure of styling actors for Opening Night. We also loved getting our clients involved where they had the chance to win an Orbe hair and makeup session and tickets to Opening Night, including a walk on the red carpet and entry to the after party!
A Weekender with Kao Salon Partners
On Sunday, 17 and Monday, 18 March salon co-owners Ida and Joe and North Adelaide Director Tara attended Kao Salon Partner’s (Goldwell) sold out THE WEEKENDER event in Gold Coast.
We were joined by salons across Australia as well as a mix of high-energy keynote speakers and artistic talent for two action-packed days with expert presentations, creative sessions, brand activations and much more.
The weekend left us feeling grateful and inspired by our incredible industry.
