Club Descriptions
Ancient Mythology Club - Years 3&4
Come and hear about the adventures of Greek and Roman heroes and their escapades in Ancient Mythology club!
Art Club - Years 3-5 and 5-6 (two classes)
The club is divided into two parts One half of the term the pupils will be working with clay, and I will teach them how to construct and mould the clay They will learn how to make thumb pots, coil pots, tablets, and small animal figures, which they will paint with acrylic paints the following week. The last week of each block they will create something of their own choice using the skills they have learned
Art club - I will choose a subject and we will draw the bones of the picture together, teaching the pupils different drawing styles and techniques I will then encourage the pupils to add their own ideas to their drawing to make it their own. We usually try to complete 2 pieces within the 6 weeks. The aim is to experiment with various media and encourage creativity
Bilingual French Club - Years R-6 - Twice a week
Our Bilingual group is aimed at children who can speak French and have a good understanding of the language. With two sessions of 45 minutes, one session is dedicated to oral work, going through different themes each term and working in groups through role-play, games, songs and listening activities Our second session is dedicated to reading, grammar and writing exercises
We aim for these lessons to be enjoyable for the children with engaging activities, encouraging each child to develop their verbal ability and fluency of the language. A detailed term programme is sent out to the parents at the start of each term
Book Club - Years 5-6 and 3-4 (two classes)
Book Club takes place in the Upper School Library and is a time for children to enjoy reading, discover new books and new authors, write book reviews, share book recommendations and take part in all sorts of book-related activities. There is a £20 fee to join this club with all funds going towards increasing the richness of our school library The fee is made payable to the Dolphin School account with the reference: BOOK CLUB
