SPECTATORS’ CODE OF CONDUCT
The fundamental purpose of school of sport is enjoyment and development.
A key principle is to teach the value of sportsmanship and fair play.Young people learn by example. Umpire or coach decisions should not be questioned and the use of offensive language towards officials, staff, spectators or players is not permitted.
Refrain from encroaching on the field of play. Any concerns should be communicated to the Head of Hockey or the Director of Sport at the conclusion of a fixture.
Parents as Role Models
Parental support should always reinforce a positive attitude. Encourage your child to show good sportsmanship and fair play. Always encourage and praise effort.
PLAYER SELECTION
Players are expected to commit to training twice per week and be available on a Saturday. On a Saturday all players should play. The exception to this is during cup games. Players will be selected on the basis of commitment. All commitments will be taken into account. All players should communicate their availability in plenty of time.
Coaches will endeavour to place players in groups with similar hockey experience. Players should also consider partnering with players of similar ability to get the most out of their time on the pitch. All additional sessions are open to all players, e.g, additional pitch sessions, conditioning and video analysis. The exception to this will be where a coach has let players know that a session or sessions are in preparation of upcoming cup games.
