It gives me enormous pleasure to welcome you to the 2025 Doha College Yearbook. Contained within the pages of this book you will find a snapshot of the wonderful range of activities that have made this such a successful and memorable year in the rich and long history of this fantastic school. In my Executive Assistant’s office we have a complete collection of previous editions of the yearbook dating right back to the 1980s. Whilst the fashions and styles have changed from then until now, what has remained remarkably constant is the love of learning, the sense of fun, the infectious community spirit and the success our pupils enjoy.
This year has been a particularly successful one for the Primary School as Mr Watson has settled into his new role of Head of School and Senior Vice Principal. The subject specialist teaching in the upper years of Primary is really starting to have a positive impact and our pupils have performed well above national, regional and international standards with almost all pupils significantly outperforming age-related expectations. The Primary School has also maintained its membership of the prestigious Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) and we were privileged to welcome to our Board of Governors Mr Chris Davies the former Chair of this organisation. Other significant highlights this year in the Primary School include the Year 6 production of Annie, the Primary Winter Concert and the Primary School’s domination of the local sports scene here in Qatar across almost all sports. We are also proud of much of the work that has gone into the play and learning environments around the Primary School this year. The year also saw the school being listed as one of the top 100 private schools in the world for the fifth year in a row in the prestigious Spear’s School Index.
What stands out above all these successes however, is how impressive, independent and compassionate our pupils are. They are the best ambassadors for the College and their happiness and curiosity is infectious.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those individuals who have contributed to the yearbook in providing us with a memento of a wonderful year.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.

As we reflect on another remarkable year at Doha College Primary, this quote encapsulates the spirit that has guided us throughout. At the heart of everything we do is our commitment to our pupils; their growth, their achievements, and their wellbeing. This year has been a shining example of our school motto in action: Excellence for all, excellence from all.
Our children have amazed us time and time again, demonstrating not only academic progress, but creativity, kindness, resilience, and teamwork. Whether they’ve been leading learning, performing on stage, competing in sports, or engaging in thoughtful classroom discussions, they have consistently embodied the values we hold dear. Most importantly, through our Positively DC initiative, they have shown kindness, care and compassion for each other and our community.
A true highlight of our year was the Year 6 participation in the BSME Games. Watching our pupils represent Doha College with such determination, sportsmanship and joy was a proud moment for our entire community. They trained hard, supported one another, and celebrated their successes with humility and pride, all qualities that will serve them well in the years ahead. Across the school, our sports teams have dominated in Qatar and we are incredibly proud of all of the children who have represented DC so well.
Equally impressive have been the many performances and productions that have graced our stages this year. From Foundation Stage assemblies to the incredible productions of ‘Annie’ in Y6, our pupils have dazzled us with their confidence, their storytelling and their ability to work collaboratively. These moments have not only showcased individual talents but have brought our community together in celebration.
Our ‘Creating Connections’ events have been a real cornerstone of learning this year. It has been a joy to welcome families into school to see the depth and breadth of our curriculum in action. From Ancient Egyptians to the Tudor period, our classrooms have come alive with historical inquiry, creativity, and student-led presentations. Watching children take ownership of their learning and share it with such pride has been inspiring and we wholeheartedly thank your parents for engaging so fully and positively with these events.
We have also been delighted to relaunch our parent workshops this year, strengthening the partnership between home and school. From iPad safety to supporting early reading, these sessions reflect our belief that education is a shared journey. It has been fantastic to see so many parents engaging with us, asking questions, and working alongside us to support their children.
None of this would be possible without the unwavering dedication of our teaching and support staff, whose commitment to each and every child ensures that we can truly live out our motto. Our staff believe in the potential of every pupil and work tirelessly to bring out the best in them every day.
To our pupils: thank you. You are the reason we do what we do. Your curiosity, your energy, your compassion and your drive for excellence inspire us all. You have made this year exceptional, and we couldn’t be prouder.
As we look ahead, we do so with confidence, knowing that the foundations we have laid together this year will continue to strengthen and grow. Here’s to another year of excellence, for all and from all.

As we flick through the pages of this yearbook, reflecting on the extraordinary accomplishments and unforgettable moments of the past year, it’s crucial to hold onto the belief that children represent our future, and it’s our duty to safeguard and nurture them.
This straightforward yet impactful notion emphasises the significance of our community’s role in shaping the lives of our children. Each child showcased in this yearbook serves as a testament to the potential and promise residing within our classrooms. As parents, educators, and guides, it falls upon us collectively to establish an atmosphere where every child feels secure, appreciated, and motivated.
Protecting and nurturing children encompasses more than just furnishing them with education and essentials. It entails heeding their aspirations, empathising with their hurdles, and fostering their interests. It’s about cultivating a culture characterised by compassion, resilience, and inquisitiveness. By prioritising their emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing, we equip them to confront the future with assurance and bravery.
While we commemorate the triumphs of this year, let’s persist in being advocates for our children, ensuring that each day presents an opportunity for their development, education, and flourishing. Together, we possess the ability to construct a brighter tomorrow, one pupil at a time. A

The quote below, simple yet so powerful in meaning, is reflective of the spirit of our wonderful Primary school community. The impact of being kind, both to ourselves and to others, has been at the forefront of our pastoral programme this year as we continue to work tirelessly to ensure that every child feels valued, supported and cared for.
The introduction of Positively DC, an initiative designed to encourage children to think deeply about how they can demonstrate kindness has been an exciting and important development within the Primary school. This year, children have thought about what respect looks and feels like, how to be an upstander in times of challenge and why it is essential that everyone feels included. Instilling these crucial values in our children as we prepare them for life beyond school ensures they will lead with integrity, empathy and a strong sense of responsibility.

in their care. Our team of Emotional Literacy Support Assistants has expanded this year, ensuring even more children are able to receive personalized emotional support, and we now have a number of staff who are trained to deliver Mental Health First Aid when it is required.
As we prepare children for the next stage in their education, be that with us in Primary or into life within Secondary, careful consideration continues to be given to how we support children through change and transition. Our Flying Start programme has supported our youngest learners in settling comfortably into school life, and a comprehensive transition programme for our Year 6 children means they can look forward to Secondary School with confidence and excitement.
As we look forward to the year ahead, our commitment to wellbeing and the happiness of each child in our care remains, ensuring each and every one of our wonderful pupils are able to reach their full potential.
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. “

It is hard to believe that this is the end of my very first year at Doha College – a year that has flown by at an incredible pace, yet has been filled with so many accomplishments, joyful moments, and proud memories. From the very first day, I have been inspired by the relentless energy, positivity, and excellence of our pupils, who truly make this school the special place that it is.
One of the standout highlights for me was International Day – a spectacular celebration of our diverse community, where cultures from around the world came together in colour, music, and tradition. Theme days transported us across centuries and continents, bringing history to life and igniting imaginations. The smiles, the kindness, and the unwavering support of the children, staff, and parents (shout out to the Gate 6 clan) have created a sense of community that I feel truly honoured to be part of. When the dust settles from Year One, it’s these daily acts of care, encouragement, and togetherness that I will remember most fondly.

It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to witness the growth, learning, and achievements of our wonderful pupils throughout this academic year. Our Key Stage 1 journey has been filled with enriching experiences, creativity, and strong connections between home and school.
Our Creating Connections Days have truly been a highlight, strengthening the bonds between children, families, and our wider community. Year 1 showcased their learning in style during our Explorers parade, where the children dazzled us in their amazing costumes. Equally memorable was our immersive experience stepping back in time to the Victorian era, where we played traditional playground games alongside our parents, bringing history to life!
In Year 2, we extended learning beyond the classroom with inspiring guest speakers. The children were captivated by the visit from real-life firefighters during their topic on the Great Fire of London and were thrilled to meet a pilot when learning about the courageous Amelia Earhart. Both year groups have embraced exceptional learning experiences, including culinary adventures at Carluccio’s for Healthy Eating, a

thrilling Doha Bus Tour with a scavenger hunt of our city’s key landmarks, exploring Doha Port, and visiting the aquarium.
Our pupils have also shone on stage in their class assemblies. Year 1 delighted us with their retelling of Giraffes Can’t Dance, while Year 2 inspired us to protect our planet through their heartfelt message.
This year saw the exciting introduction of our Parent Event Groups, who have been instrumental in supporting key events such as International Day and Qatar National Day, as well as enhancing our assemblies with their creativity and support with staging.
It has been incredible to see our pupils’ exceptional progress; they should be very proud. As we say goodbye to our Year 2 children and look forward to welcoming our FS2 pupils into Year 1, we also cheer on our Year 1 children as they step into Year 2 for their final year of Key Stage 1. On behalf of the entire Key Stage 1 team, thank you for a wonderful year. We are so proud of you all and know you will continue to shine.
What a year it’s been in Lower Key Stage 2! From unearthing Stone Age secrets with mammothinspired grunts in Year 3, to walking like Egyptians (some more gracefully than others) in Year 4, our Creating Connections Days have been nothing short of legendary. If enthusiasm were an ancient artifact, we’d need a museum just for Year 3 and 4. This academic year at Doha College has been a wonderful whirlwind of learning, laughter, and the occasional papier-mâché mishap. Our Year 3 and 4 pupils have journeyed through history, tackled tricky maths, explored powerful stories in English, and even managed to remember their lunchboxes (well, most days). Whether they were enthusiastically roleplaying hunter-gatherers or carefully mummifying tomatoes in the name of historical accuracy, their passion for learning has shone brightly.
But beyond the costumes and creativity, I want to take a moment to say something important. I

am incredibly proud of every single child in Years 3 and 4—not just for their academic progress, but for their kindness, resilience, and ability to support one another. Whether it’s a hand on the shoulder of a friend who’s had a tough day, or the quiet confidence in standing up during assembly, these small moments have been some of the biggest achievements of all.
Our pastoral care has remained at the heart of everything we do, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the unwavering support of our amazing staff and families. Together, we’ve created a space where every child can grow—not just as learners, but as brilliant little humans too.
Wishing all our pupils and families a joyful, restful, and well-deserved summer break. May it be full of sunshine, laughter, and memories worth their own Creating Connections Day!

What a year it has been!
Watching our Upper Key Stage 2 pupils grow in confidence, curiosity, and character has been one of the greatest privileges of my role. From the classroom to the stage and beyond the school gates, this year has been filled with challenge, discovery, and unforgettable moments.
Year 5 have truly impressed us with their enthusiasm and growing independence. They have embraced new responsibilities with maturity, whether leading class assemblies or diving into rich learning experiences with energy and curiosity. Their teamwork and commitment have stood out, and it’s been a joy to watch them shine as they prepare for their final year in Primary.
Year 6 have set a wonderful example through their leadership, creativity, and resilience. The school production was a true celebration of their talent and collaboration, while the residential will be remembered for its laughter, challenges, and proud personal achievements. As they take their next steps into secondary school, we couldn’t be prouder of all they’ve accomplished.

What a fantastic year it has been in the Early Years Foundation Stage! It has been a joy and privilege to lead such a dynamic and nurturing phase, where our youngest learners in FS1 and FS2 have flourished in confidence, curiosity, and creativity.
FS1 children have had an especially exciting year, from their drumming workshop that filled the room with rhythm and energy to their first experiences of school trips, which created lasting memories and inspired their learning beyond the classroom. They have grown so much, embracing new friendships, language, and independent exploration.
FS2 children have also had an impressive year with their growing independence and eagerness to explore. They have tackled new challenges with enthusiasm, whether investigating the natural world in outdoor learning, performing confidently in their assembly, or collaborating during group activities.
One of the most special days this year was International Day, where the children proudly wore traditional dress or their countries colours and celebrated the rich cultural backgrounds that make up our community. It was a wonderful opportunity to share stories and learn from one another.
Our phase-wide house events brought out the children’s enthusiasm and team spirit, while assemblies allowed them to shine and celebrate their learning with pride. Stay and play sessions with parents have offered a wonderful chance to build connections between home and school, and it has been a joy to watch the children share their learning and achievements so confidently.
I am so proud of everything the children have accomplished this year. It has been a truly special journey—one full of laughter, learning, and unforgettable memories!

FS1 has had an incredible year of many ‘firsts’ at Doha College. The children enjoyed meeting their first teachers, making new friends, exploring many new stories, and joining in with whole-school events such as Sports Day and House Competitions! Going on their very first school trip to ‘My Gym’ was definitely a high-light too. It was so exciting for the children to zoom down the zip line and play fun parachute games whilst learning new gymnastics skills. We marked the children having 100 wonderful days at Doha College with a special event where parents joined us to play and celebrate the milestone.
The children have also enjoyed dressing up to celebrate many special occasions such as Qatar National Day, International Day and World Book Day. Through one of our themes of learning about dinosaurs, FS1 also dressed up as little dinosaurs and invited parents into classrooms for a dino-themed Stay & Play.
The children have grown so much over the year. They have been learning how to learn in school, discovering new topics, baking, growing plants and so much more! We are very proud of all the children and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them in their journey through Doha College.
Here are some of the things FS1 children have loved the most in their first year of Doha College:
Johnny I like to play doctors in the special doctors area.
This year in FS2 has been truly remarkable, filled with joyful experiences, exciting discoveries, and meaningful learning.
In Term 1, we explored fascinating topics such as I wonder why I am special? and I wonder how it grows? These themes came to life through engaging texts like What Should Danny Do? and Jack and the Beanstalk. A standout moment was our fantastic trip to CurioCity, where we developed our physical skills in a vibrant and inspiring setting, encouraging teamwork, confidence, and curiosity.
Our adventures continued in Term 2 with a heartwarming Teddy Bear’s Picnic and an unforgettable visit to OliOli – a day full of laughter, creativity, and hands-on exploration. Pirate Day was another memorable highlight, as we created our own dress up costumes, treasure, and let our imaginations set sail.
In Term 3, we took great pride in performing our class assembly based around the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar, charming our audience with our enthusiasm, storytelling, and confidence. We rounded off the year by
venturing into outer space, discovering the planets, stars, and everything in between – a topic that sparked awe and wonder in all of us.
To all our FS2 children, we are so proud of your incredible progress. You’ve grown in confidence, made lasting friendships, worked hard, and had so much fun along the way. As you move on to Year 1, we know you will continue to shine brightly. We wish you all the very best for the exciting journey ahead – may it be just as magical and rewarding as this one.
This year marked our school’s first celebration of World Science Day, and what a fantastic day it was! With the inspiring theme ‘Global Health and Global Wellbeing’, pupils explored the incredible ways science improves lives across the globe.
World Science Day for Peace and Development was established by UNESCO in 2001 to highlight the importance of science in society and to encourage public engagement in scientific issues. This year’s theme helped us focus on how scientific discoveries and innovations have transformed healthcare and wellbeing worldwide.
Children came dressed as scientists and proudly shared their own imaginative inventions. Through engaging activities, they learned about how scientists have made groundbreaking contributions to health and wellbeing around the world.
We were also delighted to welcome guests, who explained how they use science in their everyday work. Their insights inspired pupils to see science as something living and relevant -not just in labs, but in many aspects of life.
This celebration reminded us all that every child is a scientist - full of curiosity, creativity and the potential to make a real difference in the world.

As we look back on the journey our Year 1 children have taken this year, there’s so much to celebrate. It’s been a year filled with curiosity, creativity, and connection – a time where the children have truly grown, both as learners and as young people finding their place in a community.
From diving into the world of pirates and Victorians to learning about the rainforest and exploring the wonders of nature, our children have brought so much enthusiasm and imagination to their learning. Our Explorers topic sparked a real sense of adventure, as the children investigated the world around them and even became explorers themselves on our Doha Bus Tour – spotting landmarks, asking questions, and seeing their city through fresh eyes.
Whether acting out stories, sharing their writing, or asking big questions in science, they’ve approached each challenge with positivity and growing confidence.
Some of our favourite moments have come from the experiences we’ve shared together – both in and out of the classroom. Highlights include our Creating Connections days, where we welcomed families to take part in a treasure hunt and enjoy traditional Victorian playground games. Seeing the children proudly share their learning and enjoy these moments with their grown-ups was a real highlight.
Trips like our visit to Kidzania gave children the chance to try out new roles, be independent and have fun with their friends outside the classroom. And special days like Book Day, Qatar National Day and International Day reminded us of the joy that comes from celebrating our community and the many things that make us unique.
Most of all, it’s been a joy to watch the children build friendships, develop independence, and grow in confidence each day. Their kindness, curiosity, and energy have made this year such a special one.
To all of our Year 1 children – thank you for the laughter, the effort, and the many moments that made us proud. We’ll miss you as you move on, but we’re so excited to see all that you’ll go on to achieve.
We were honoured to host the Premier League Trophy, giving our pupils a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up close to footballing history.
The excitement in the Tim Bentley Room was electric, with pupils proudly wearing their favourite Premier League and English team shirts.
A proud moment that reflects the global reach, outstanding opportunities, and vibrant community spirit at the heart of Doha College.

YEAR 2
Wow, what an incredible year it has been for Year 2 at Doha College! From the very first term to the final weeks, our brilliant children have embraced every opportunity to explore, create and grow.
This year was packed with unforgettable experiences – from marvelling at marine life during our trip to the Aquarium to becoming mini chefs in our exciting pizzamaking adventure! We’ve loved watching the children flourish in their reading journeys, moving confidently from phonics to deeper comprehension with enthusiasm and skill.
Our Class Reps have been shining stars, leading the way in digital innovation, eco-awareness, charity initiatives, wellbeing activities, and celebrating diversity through DEI. We’ve also been lucky to welcome some amazing guest speakers including a Qatar Airways pilot, a real firefighter, and even a published author!
Martin Jarvis Head of Year 2
Our calendar has been buzzing with exciting events – International Days filled with colour and culture, the magic of World Book Day, competitive House and Sports Days, and our much-loved Creating Connections events. Who could forget the dazzling dioramas, Fire of London quizzes, or our speedy balloon cars?
Our Interdisciplinary Learning topics have been a real highlight – packed with hands-on investigations, creative design projects, and fascinating discoveries. Whether it was conducting experiments or diving into vibrant art pieces, Year 2 pupils showed curiosity and creativity every step of the way.
Through it all, high-quality texts in English have inspired thoughtful discussions, imaginative writing, and a true love for stories.
We are so proud of everything our Year 2 pupils have achieved. They’ve laughed, learned, and made memories to last a lifetime. Here’s to a fantastic year and an even brighter future ahead!
Doha College turned the page on an unforgettable week of literary celebrations as we marked World Book Day with a series of exciting, book-themed events. The highlight of the week was a special visit from international author Toby Glover, who captivated pupils with live readings and a fun-filled competition inspired by his beloved Mark Shark character. The creative entries poured in and were proudly celebrated in a special assembly.
Adding to the magic, several of our wonderful DC parents joined us to share stories aloud, sparking imagination and joy across the classrooms. The grand finale came on World Book Day itself, as pupils and staff arrived dressed as their favourite book characters, transforming the school into a living library. A lively costume parade in the Primary school gave children a moment to shine, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd of parents. The children also took part in the annual Book worms quiz to put their literary knowledge to the test.
A superb week of reading, dressing up and celebrations enjoyed by all!

Well, what a year it’s been in Year 3! We’ve travelled back in time (several times!), survived the Stone Age without WiFi, met mysterious Shang warriors, and strutted down the Roman catwalk like true citizens of the empire. If there were medals for historical knowledge, we’d be covered in gold, bronze... and possibly iron.
Our brains have been working just as hard as our feet—especially in maths, where we’ve wrestled with fractions, columns, and the occasional rogue times table. In English, we’ve written diary entries, reports, and some stories so dramatic they nearly blew the glue sticks off the tables. Reading? Let’s just say our books have been in and out of bags more times than a water bottle on a hot day.
We’ve celebrated in style too. On World Book Day, we became our favourite characters (some of us didn’t want to change back), and on Earth Day, we promised to look after the planet—although some of us are still working on
remembering to put our banana peels in the compost. Qatar National Day and International Day reminded us that the world is big, beautiful, and full of different stories—just like our classes.
And let’s not forget sports and swimming! We’ve learned to swim further, run faster, and (mostly) aim in the right direction during PE. Progress!
Most importantly, we’ve grown as people—making friends, sorting fallouts, sharing snacks (and sometimes germs), and building a little community we’re proud of. Now, with Year 4 on the horizon, it’s normal to feel excited, proud, and maybe a bit wobbly. But we’ve got this. We’ve done the hard work, laughed a lot, and learned even more.
Year 3—you’ve been brilliant, bonkers, and blooming marvellous. Bring on the next adventure!

From the very first week in September, our fantastic pupils hit the ground running, and we’ve been amazed by their creativity, curiosity, and courage every step of the way. Their achievements have been nothing short of inspiring, and every child should feel incredibly proud of how far they’ve come!
We launched the year with the intriguing topic ‘What Powers a Kingdom?’—a journey that sparked minds and imaginations. Our classrooms buzzed with creativity as the children explored electricity and sound in science, crafted stunning abstract art inspired by Kandinsky, and moulded their own canopic jars out of clay! Their biographies of Kandinsky were thoughtful and wellcrafted, and a visit to the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art brought their learning to life in the most vibrant way. Spring term brought waves of inspiration with our new topic ‘How Much Do We Really Need Water?’ which was guided by the magical tale The Water Horse, the children dived into persuasive writing and explanation texts with enthusiasm. They tackled the complexities of the water cycle, explored life in different habitats, and even compared the landscapes and lifestyles of Qatar and Scotland in a geography research project that showcased real global thinking.
As the summer term arrived, so did our final adventure—into the world of AngloSaxons and Vikings! We explored their rich histories, epic journeys, and legendary battles. The children became young historians, uncovering secrets from the past and writing their own gripping quest stories. Our trip to Oli Oli added an extra dose of fun and hands-on learning to wrap up a phenomenal year.

What an incredible year we’ve had in Year 5! From the very start, the children have impressed us with their energy, enthusiasm, and determination. One of the major highlights of the year was our unforgettable trip to Blue Pearl, where the children showcased amazing teamwork and resilience. They tackled every challenge with a positive attitude and supported one another throughout, true examples of our school values in action.
Another proud moment was the children’s class assemblies. Each class created and performed powerful presentations all about sustainability, biomes affected by human impact, and climate change. They blew us away with their confidence, creativity and commitment. We even had some budding composers who wrote their own music to enhance their performances! These assemblies were packed with fun and imagination, from game shows and talent shows to time travel and TV presenters. It was a joy to watch each and every one.
Throughout the year, the children have worked tirelessly across every subject, from the terrible Tudor period to

the fascinating world of ancient Greece. They made wonderful progress in all areas and showed real curiosity and maturity in their learning. Our trip to Purple Island Mangroves gave us another chance to step outside the classroom and experience learning in the real world—despite the wild weather! The children learned all about this important ecosystem and showed great respect for nature.
We’ve also seen incredible personal achievements from so many of our pupils—from musicians and actors to sporting stars, both within and outside of school. It’s been truly inspiring.
And while we love a celebration or special event, we believe our pupils don’t need one to feel proud—they are celebrated every single day in Year 5. Thank you to our parents for your continued support—it simply wouldn’t be possible without you.

Doha College Year 6 Trashion Show: fashioning a future of ‘Reuse, Reduce, Recycle.’
The Year 6 ‘Trashion Show’ was a spectacular celebration of creativity, sustainability, and interdisciplinary learning (IDL)! As part of their IDL topic on sustainability, our young designers combined elements of science, art, and design technology to transform discarded clothing into stunning, upcycled fashion pieces, each inspired by the beauty of nature.
From the fiery depths of volcanoes to the shimmering hues of the Northern Lights, every class brought their theme to life on the runway. The lush rainforests, vibrant flora, the radiant sun, and the deep blues of oceans and rivers all showcased the pupils’ incredible innovation and commitment to protecting our planet.
Having our pupils’ parents in attendance made the event even more special. Their support and encouragement highlighted the importance of the Triangle of Support— the strong partnership between pupils, school, and parents in fostering learning, creativity, and personal growth. Events like these demonstrate how collaboration enhances the educational journey, inspiring pupils to think critically and act responsibly.
The Trashion Show was a powerful reminder that fashion can be both stylish and sustainable. By giving old clothes a new life, our pupils proved that small actions can make a big difference. Thank you to everyone who supported this inspiring journey towards a greener future and for championing Doha College as an eco-school!
YEAR 6
This academic year has been one of growth, achievement, and transition for our Year 6 cohort. As they prepare to move on from Primary school, we take great pride in reflecting on the experiences that have shaped their final year with us.
A particular highlight was our residential trip to Oman, which offered pupils the chance to develop independence, teamwork, and resilience in a new and challenging environment. Their willingness to step outside their comfort zones and support one another was truly commendable. Equally impressive were those who remained in school and completed a range of team-work based challenges. Their creativity, collaboration, and commitment was evident in all they achieved.
The end of Primary production of Annie Jr. was another standout moment. The dedication and talent shown by our pupils throughout rehearsals and performances culminated in a truly memorable show, which

The Annie Jr. production in the Autumn term was a true highlight of the year and a shining example of what makes Year 6 so special. Under the guidance of their teachers—who stepped into the roles of directors and choreographers—our pupils brought the story to life with energy, enthusiasm, and immense talent. What made this production particularly remarkable was the pupil-led effort behind the scenes. From managing the lighting and sound to ensuring smooth scene changes and musical cues, the backstage crew played a vital role in the show’s success.
The cast was equally impressive. Every child embraced their role with confidence and commitment, resulting in a cohesive and captivating performance. There were unforgettable solo performances, strong ensemble work, and a real sense of teamwork on stage. Each year, our Year 6 production seems to surpass the last—and Annie Jr. was no exception. Year 6 Residential - Oman
May 2025
The trip to Oman was a significant highlight of the year and provided an exceptional opportunity for pupils to extend their learning beyond the classroom in a unique and inspiring environment. Throughout the trip, pupils worked collaboratively to complete challenging activities, including abseiling, dirt biking, and fire building. These experiences fostered the development of essential skills such as leadership, resilience, communication, and problem-solving.
Pupils were encouraged to embrace new challenges, cultivating independence and critical thinking. The residential reinforced the importance of teamwork, while strengthening confidence and adaptability. Outdoor education was at the heart of the trip, offering valuable opportunities for experiential learning and real-world application of key skills. This memorable week not only deepened friendships and strengthened the sense of community, but also equipped pupils with tools that will serve them throughout their academic journey and beyond. It was an experience our pupils will remember for years to come.
Modern Foreign Languages
As we reflect on the vibrant journey of our Modern Foreign Languages Department, let us draw inspiration from the words of renowned South African leader Nelson Mandela: “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.” This quote beautifully encapsulates the essence of our mission: to not only teach languages but to foster deep, heartfelt connections between cultures. This academic year has been a journey of growth, innovation, and cultural immersion, solidifying the department’s status as the largest and one of the most dynamic in our primary school.
One of the year’s highlights was the French and Arabic breakfast. Parents and children gathered to savour authentic delicacies while children showcased their language skills by conversing in French and Arabic. This real-life scenario not only allowed pupils to apply their classroom knowledge but also helped them gain confidence in their linguistic abilities.
Even more impressively, our department celebrated a significant achievement in the BSME Arabic Challenge, where we secured third place among 38 participating schools from around the world. This remarkable accomplishment was further highlighted by one of our pupils achieving second place among a pool of 2200 participants.
As we celebrate the successes of the past year, we are filled with anticipation for what the future holds. The Modern Foreign Languages Department is more than just a place of learning; it’s a vibrant community where languages come alive, cultures are celebrated, and pupils are empowered to become global citizens.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our pupils, parents, staff, and the entire school community for their unwavering support and enthusiasm.

Music
This year has been a truly outstanding one for Primary Music at Doha College, filled with joyful melodies, inspiring performances, and countless moments of musical growth. Across every year group, our pupils have demonstrated an incredible commitment towards their musical learning, showing not only talent, but also teamwork, resilience, and a true sense of community.
Our choirs have shone brightly this year, with both the Year 1 – 3 Choir and the Year 4 –6 Choir proudly representing Doha College in the prestigious Qatar School Choir of the Year Competition. Their enthusiasm, discipline, and ambassadorship made a lasting impression, and their performances reflected the passion and dedication they bring to rehearsals each week as part of our vibrant CCAs.
All our Primary Music ensembles – choirs, Junior Orchestra, instrumental groups, and solo performers – came together in a magical celebration of music for the annual Winter Concert. This heartwarming event showcased the wide range of talent across the Primary School and brought the community together in shared love of music.
A particular highlight of the year was our spectacular Year6 production of ‘Annie’. Every Year 6 pupil took part, developing their vocal confidence, stage presence, and musical theatre skills. With spirited singing, polished acting, and imaginative choreography, the production was a testament to their hard work, the strong collaboration between our colleagues, and the vibrant creative spirit of our school.
Throughout the year, instrumentalists from Year 1 to Year 6 have also had the chance to shine in our instrumental showcase concerts. These performances allowed pupils to share their progress and passion for music with their families, teachers, and friends, with each performance celebrating musical growth and personal achievement.
At Doha College, Primary Music is about more than just learning an instrument or performing a song. It’s about building confidence, forming friendships, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Through our music lessons, CCAs, concerts, and competitive opportunities, our young musicians have grown as individuals and as a community. We are so proud of everything our pupils have accomplished this year, and we look forward to the future as our young musicians continue to flourish. Bravo to all our young performers – your passion continues to make Doha College sing!
The evening of festivity was filled with delightful performances, including our Junior Orchestra, solo performances, and Junior Choir. The grand finale was a gift wrapped in pure holiday joy as everybody in the auditorium sang, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”

Physical Education
As I reflect on my first year as Head of Primary PE at Doha College, I feel immensely proud of everything our pupils and staff have achieved. It has been a year full of energy, enthusiasm, and unforgettable moments that truly reflect the spirit of sport at Doha College.
Across PE, swimming, and our ever-growing games programme, pupils have shown outstanding dedication, resilience, and kindness. Whether Learning to swim, mastering new skills in PE, or playing alongside classmates in games, their passion and sportsmanship have been inspiring to witness.
One of the year’s standout highlights was Primary Sports Week. From our smallest athletes in EYFS to our KS2 athletes racing for house glory, the astro pitch came alive with colour, excitement, and community spirit. Our parent supporters brought an extra buzz, making the event even more special.
In EYFS, our youngest learners have laid the foundations for lifelong physical development, building key movement and coordination skills through exciting play, exploration, and discovery. Meanwhile, KS2 pupils shone in competitive inter-house events, developing not only their sporting talents but also a deep appreciation for teamwork, effort, and healthy competition. Additionally, it has been wonderful to see our pupils begin to understand sport not just as a hobby or for enjoyment, but also as a valuable part of living a healthy, active lifestyle - one they can carry with them well beyond the school years.
This year, our pupils showcased their talent and determination at over 30 QPPSSA tournaments, competing against other international schools across Qatar. Their hard work and dedication were evident as they brought home numerous medals, marking a successful year on the national stage.
In addition, we proudly hosted our first-ever Football Festival, welcoming teams from across Doha and providing over 200 pupils the opportunity to represent DC in a friendly, inclusive environment. The event was a fantastic display of teamwork and sportsmanship, strengthening our sense of community through sport.
On the international stage, Doha College proudly hosted its first-ever BSME Football Tournament, welcoming 20 schools from across the Middle East for a fantastic day of sportsmanship and intense competition. Our U11 girls rose to the occasion, bringing home the gold medal - a truly outstanding achievement that reflects their hard work and determination. Adding to our
international success, 31 of our Year 6 pupils travelled to Dubai to represent DC at the prestigious U11 BSME Games, where they demonstrated incredible skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout.
As the academic year draws to a close, I want to thank our amazing pupils for their energy, dedication, and enthusiasm, and to our wider school community for their continued support. It has been a true privilege to lead such a passionate and talented department in a school that wholeheartedly embraces sport. I am incredibly proud of all we’ve achieved this year!

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
This year, we have made significant enhancements to ensure our program is more vibrant, inclusive, and exciting than ever before. As a CCA team, we have broadened our pupils’ horizons by significantly increasing the variety of co-curricular activities available. From sports to arts, science clubs to language learning, there’s something for every interest and passion. This expansion has been made possible by welcoming a host of new outside providers, each bringing their expertise and enthusiasm to enrich our program. This means more choice for our pupils, allowing them to explore new interests or dive deeper into existing passions. We have added Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Rebel Gymnastics and Prodigy, who specialise in robotics and coding. Understanding the importance of keeping our parents and pupils well-informed, we have improved our communication efforts. Through regular updates and an open line for feedback, we ensure that everyone is part of the vibrant co-curricular life at Doha College.
This improved communication has fostered a stronger sense of community, making it easier for pupils and parents to manage their schedules and commitments. At the heart of our enhanced cocurricular program is a commitment to giving our pupils more say in the activities they pursue. We believe in empowering our pupils to make choices that reflect their interests and aspirations. This approach not only boosts their engagement and enjoyment but also encourages them to take ownership of their learning and personal development. The past year has been marked by remarkable achievements across our co-curricular activities. Whether triumphs in sports competitions, accolades in the arts, or breakthroughs in academic clubs, our pupils have shown what it means to excel.
These successes are a testament to the dedication of our pupils and the support of our teachers and external providers. As we reflect on a year of incredible growth and achievement, we are excited about the future of cocurricular activities at Doha College. With our commitment to providing more choices, better support, and a welcoming community, we aim to offer our pupils an even more enriching and enjoyable experience in the years to come.

Message from ECO Coordinator
Sustainability remains a core value at the heart of the school’s culture and daily practices, shaping the Sustainability Committee’s ongoing efforts and progress. Carefully planned events and initiatives have promoted environmental awareness and inspired meaningful action across the entire school community. During Qatar Sustainability Week, pupils engaged in focused learning about Qatar’s diverse biomes. The week culminated in a pupil gallery exhibition, offering families the opportunity to celebrate their children’s learning. On Qatar Environment Day, pupils participated in a themed dress-down day and a ‘sustainable living pledge’ initiative. Pupils across both schools creatively incorporated their pledges into outfits made from recyclable materials—bringing sustainability to life in a visible and imaginative way. Our Commitment to sustainability extends beyond classroom learning. This year, we launched a school garden produce sale, where pupils harvested and sold herbs, leafy greens and vegetables. This not only promoted healthy eating but also helped children appreciate the value of growing food sustainably. Away from the campus, over 80 pupils, staff, and family members participated in a desert clean-up at the Singing Sand Dunes, organised with DEAP Qatar. More than 130 kilograms of waste were collected in just over an hour—highlighting our community’s shared environmental commitment. Back on home soil, to commemorate National Plant a Flower Day, pupils took part in planting activities and gardenthemed learning experiences. As part of the celebration, the Primary plant beds were fully renovated, creating vibrant outdoor learning spaces. At the same time, the Secondary garden was refreshed, providing pupils with an improved space to grow plants, reflect, and engage with nature. Through these initiatives and continued focus across the curriculum, the school, led by the Sustainability Committee, is committed to nurturing a generation of environmentally conscious learners who understand their role in protecting and preserving the planet for the future.

Message from DEI Coordinators
This year, the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) committee has had a powerful and wide-reaching impact across both Primary and Secondary phases of the school.
In Primary, pupils self-nominated and were elected by their peers, demonstrating both pupil voice and leadership. These young ambassadors committed to weekly CCA sessions, where they explored diversity, inclusion, and the protected characteristics. Their learning translated into whole-school impact through leading assemblies for International Women’s Day and Black History Month, and promoting disability and neurodiversity awareness.
In Secondary, pupil leaders also committed to a weekly CCA, engaging with inclusive topics and actively linking with the wider community. Highlights included attending the F1 Academy event at Lusail Circuit and participating in an International Women’s Day event hosted by the British Embassy. The committee collaborated with the EmpowHER group to lead charity events and assemblies, and they played a key role in planning and delivering tutor-time activities and assemblies for Black History Month and Disability and Neurodiversity Awareness Week.
Another recent initiative which has seen success has been the DEI committees creating posters and leading assemblies to give their peers phrases and confidence to speak up if their name is mispronounced. The highlight of the year for many members of our College-wide community was International Day. The involvement of the DEI committees in planning International Day further celebrated the richness of our school’s multicultural community- which we could not have run so successfully without our amazing parent volunteers. Thank you! I’m sure you all agree that our campus shone with the celebration of diversity and look forward to this event again next year.
Across the school, DEI committee members have become confident advocates, raising awareness, challenging bias, and fostering a culture of inclusion and respect. Their commitment has not only strengthened the school community but has also empowered them as change-makers beyond the classroom.

Positively DC
What a wonderful year it’s been for wellbeing at Doha College! Through our Positively DC campaign, we’ve spent the year putting kindness, respect, and inclusion at the heart of school life – and the results have been truly uplifting.
In Phase 1, we explored Active Kindness, Respectful Communication, Gratitude and Appreciation, and Inclusion and Belonging. These themes came to life through exciting activities such as our wholeschool Kindness Charters and the beautiful Threads of Belonging displays that reminded us all that every individual matters.
In Phase 2, we took things even further. We talked about Respect and the power of words, Care for ourselves, others, and the planet, and the importance of Courage – especially when choosing to be an upstander, not a bystander. Inclusivity was again a primary focus, and it’s been heartwarming to see pupils ensuring that everyone feels welcome, valued, and seen.
One of the highlights has been our Upstander Pledges – brave and thoughtful commitments made by pupils determined to stand up for what is right. The campaign has helped build a school culture where kindness isn’t just a value, it’s an action we take every day.
From big assemblies to quiet acts of care in the classroom, Positively DC has created a happier, safer and more confident school environment for everyone. We can’t wait to keep the positivity going next year!
House System
This year has been a special one, A time for fun, a time to run! In Dragon, Griffin, Roc, and more— We cheered, we laughed, we learned, we soared.
Phoenix rose with fiery might, Unicorn sparkled pure and bright. Salamander, cool and clever, Made this year the best one ever!
From Sports Day cheers beneath the sun, To Bookworms Quizzes—oh, what fun! We kicked and scored in House Football, And “Be Creative” wowed us all.
With Rotation Stations, we explored, New skills and games we all adored. Each house stood proud and full of heart, Together—but each with their part.
But now a change is drawing near, A new adventure, loud and clear. Next year, we’ll join the Secondary crew— With Eagle, Scorpion, and Viper too!
Say hello to Oryx bold, And Trident’s strength, both brave and gold. Though mythical friends we’ll miss a lot, Our house spirit won’t be forgot.
The colours may change, the names may too, But one thing always will be true: The heart of house still beats the same, In every challenge, sport, and game.
Next year’s events will stretch so wide, With Primary and Seniors side by side. Bigger contests, louder cheers, New friendships made throughout the years.
So here’s a cheer, loud as can be— For every house in our history. Thank you, old faithful, alas, this is adieu. The future’s bright, because of you!

MESSAGES
Omar Ali Al-Ansari
My years at Doha College were shaped by curiosity, challenge, and growth. I was driven not just to learn, but to excel—pushing myself through the precision of mathematics, the logic of physics, and the creativity of English Literature. My GCSE and A-Level journey built the discipline, resilience, and critical thinking that continue to guide me today.
Though I graduated 25 years ago, the lessons extended far beyond academics. Playing for the football team, leading as Falcon House Captain, and building lifelong friendships all played a role. Inspiring teachers like Mr. Leopard, my PE teacher and later Principal, and Madame Mechmech, whose warmth embodied the DC spirit, made a lasting impression. These experiences instilled in me leadership, kindness, humility, and grit.
I carried those values into my studies in Industrial and Systems Engineering, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and into my early career at ExxonMobil, working on complex global projects. The mindset I developed at DC gave me the confidence to take bold steps—like joining Qatalum as one of the first Qatari engineers on site. It was a leap into the unknown, but one that taught me growth comes from challenge.
Driven by a desire to solve national challenges, I later led the development of Qatar’s National Food Security Strategy during the blockade—ensuring resilience in uncertain times. Today, as Secretary General of the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council, I work to position Qatar as a global innovation hub—advancing solutions in sustainability, health, and AI. We’re creating opportunities for the next generation, including DC pupils, to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges.
Embrace the hard path. Seek challenges, surround yourself with great mentors and friends, and build a foundation that empowers you to make a lasting impact.
- Omar Ali Al-Ansari
Hussam Al-Ansari
Looking back, the foundation laid at Doha College profoundly shaped my path—often in ways I didn’t fully appreciate at the time. The global perspective, critical thinking, and confidence to question and explore weren’t just taught—they were embedded in the school’s culture. DC instilled in me the curiosity to embrace challenges, the humility to collaborate, and the belief that no opportunity is ever out of reach.
I immersed myself in both academics and extracurriculars—captaining the school football team and serving as Sports Captain for Griffin House. These roles taught me the value of leadership, teamwork, and discipline. A standout experience was earning the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, culminating in a Himalayan summit expedition that tested my limits and taught me resilience, perseverance, and mental strength.
Doha College gave me the confidence and academic grounding to pursue a degree in Finance and Investment Banking, where I graduated with First Class Honours. I went on to build a career in investment banking between Qatar and London, gaining deep exposure to global markets.
Today, I’m part of the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), focusing on private investments in technology and consumer sectors. I’ve contributed to major international deals, including our partnerships with the Audi Formula 1 team and Monumental Sports & Entertainment. These strategic ventures reflect Qatar’s global presence and long-term vision for economic diversification.
Dr. Tareq A. Al-Ansari
Doha College will always hold a special place in my heart. My time there laid the foundation for who I am today, shaping my educational journey, cultural awareness, and passion for sports, where I had the privilege of serving as captain of Unicorn. More than just a school, Doha College was a vibrant community where lifelong friendships were formed, many of which I still cherish to this day.
Since graduating, I have pursued my passion for sustainable development. I am currently based at Hamad Bin Khalifa University within Qatar Foundation, where I serve as an Associate Professor and Head of the Sustainable Development Division at the College of Science and Engineering, as well as Acting Executive Director of the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute. I hold a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from University College London, an MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge, and a PhD in Sustainable Development and Environmental Engineering from Imperial College London.
Make the most of your time at Doha College as it is the bedrock of growth, success, and excellence. “
