This report was prepared to facilitate dialogue at the “Connections for Indigenous
Education Symposium” on the theme of Indigenous learners’ success from early childhood
through to post-secondary1 education and employment opportunities hosted by Dogwood 25
Society on March 6-7, 2018. The primary focus of the report was to identify programming that
has demonstrated some success (based on provincial and publicly available anecdotal and
quantitative data) in supporting Aboriginal2 learners along the learning continuum3. Priority
was placed upon the following geographical areas: Vancouver, Surrey, Nanaimo, Williams Lake,
and Okanagan4. Most of the information included in this report is based upon materials that
were publicly available online at the time it was prepared. This summary includes highlights
from the report as well as the findings that emerged from the preparation of the report and the
literature and resources that were reviewed.
