During WI eh was severely o w unded during the Anzio, tI aly invasion and earned a rB onze Star, a Purple Heart and several other decorations. e 6’7” tall actor is best known o f r his 20 year - 617 episode portrayal of Marshal Matt Dillon on u G nsmoke, the longestrunning TV ew stern.
