The genesis of Loom Sarees
Why another online presence for sarees?
Loom Sarees began as a labour of love, a tribute to the ancient art form of handwoven Kanjivaram silk sarees and Kanchi cotton sarees, tirelessly created on the loom by the seldomcelebrated and rarely thanked weavers
In a world of modernity and movement, the saree represents a rich cultural heritage, passed down the generations, that extends in its beauty to every aspect of life
Where the new age of beauty is constant scrutiny and judgement, the saree is a timeless work of art that survives passing trends and surpasses shifting standards with unparalleled elegance and class - a single masterpiece of fabric that celebrates femininity without revealing it and embraces the silhouette without constricting it.
THE SAREE DOES NOT SIMPLY CLOTHE A WOMAN; IT DEIFIES HER.
When draped, the saree is not a commentary on the body that wears it, but a love letter to the generations of wearers across thousands of years: a living lineage in every stitch. The saree does not simply clothe a woman; it deifies her.
Sarees are embedded in our mythologies, wrapped around gods and carved into temple stone
A saree can tell countless stories: legends and tales literally woven into illustrations along the pallu, the style of drape an identity of geography and subculture, and the very weaves themselves holding meaning.
Sarees have held power, and heralded the rise and fall of empires from the time of the Mahabharata to colonial rule to the 20th-century cultural revival.
"...losing thumbs to the pride in their delicate work."
And through it all, the artists unseen have been the weavers, losing thumbs to the pride in their delicate work. These artisans have sustained a tradition for over 5000 years, to such a standard that it remains not only relevant but essential in the modern day.
And so, Loom Sarees is committed to celebrating these artisans, working directly with weavers to preserve and promote the work of generations. Our collections present not just a garment but a way of life - for casual wear and weddings, parties and prayer. Each piece is rich with design and deeply unique, ageless and timeless.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and as a fashion photographer, I have looked at telling many stories of beauty from all angles. When it comes to my absolute passion as a documentary filmmaker, the truth told becomes imperative, and it is through that searching that I stumbled upon Gowtham’s work.
For this interview, I wanted to ask Gowtham what inspires him and the evolution of his style, but his pictures tell a thousand words. The details he captures of everyday life... will it stay this way, or will more modernisation and the insatiable drive to make AI the next best thing that ever happened to humanity destroy the true essence of simple living and high thinking? Food for thought!

I am not going to bore you with a review; there is so much said about it online. However, there is one person’s effort and hard work that requires great mention on this subject - Vandana Shiva is and has been a prominent critic of the Green Revolution, especially its impact on Indian agriculture. Notably, while the Green Revolution has invariably increased food production, it has also led to ecological damage, loss of biodiversity, and social inequalities, argues Vandana Shiva.
It is to you, dear reader, that we owe the continuity of our magazine. We are a team of passionate writers, photographers, filmmakers and creatives that endeavour to preserve the beauty of tradition and culture in a rapidly changing world.
