Friday 13 March to Sunday 15 March 2026
It gives us enormous pride to welcome you all to our 18th annual HabsMUN conference, which looks to be our best yet.
We are delighted to see so many new, as well as familiar, faces at our conference this year. Whether this is your first time attending or you are a seasoned MUN-er, we can guarantee that this weekend will be unforgettable. We encourage you to dive straight into action – write resolutions, amend those of others, advocate for your country’s perspective and make sure your placard gets the airtime it deserves. Be sure to seize every opportunity that HabsMUN presents you over the next three days.
This year our conference consists of 10 distinguished committees, grand opening and closing ceremonies and for the first time, not one, but two general assemblies.
We have a fantastic team overseeing the conference, with our three Secretary Generals, three Deputy Secretary Generals,10 more members of the senior committee and tens more working under them.
Behind the scenes, we have Secretariat helping, along with a Reprographics team dealing with all paper-based concerns, a Journalism team meticulously detailing the events of the conference in ‘Le Munde’ - our renowned MUN newspaper and a Media team in charge of all things social . Rumour has it they may be creating a video to document your experiences…see if you can get a cameo appearance!
If you ever need help, feel free to call on anyone wearing a black lanyard, we are all here to make your experience as complete as possible.
HabsMUN is a prestigious international conference, but we also accommodate all abilities. Everyone is here to support each other in having the best conference experience they can, the friends you make at conferences are friends for life.
If you ever feel something is not as expected, please tell a member of the team and we will get it sorted immediately.
We hope you have a wonderful time at HabsMUN this year, and as always, we wish you well for the fruitful debates ahead.

Helpful Tip: If you would like to access your committee’s briefing papers for your own reference, you can find them on our website at: habsmun.com/committees.html
• All resolutions must be uploaded to MyHabsMUN before being approved or debated in committees.
• For a guide on how to write resolutions please visit the HabsMUN website.
• If any assistance is required, do not hesitate to ask a chair.
1. Go to your browser and access the site: my.habsmun.com. From here, login with your username and password. This has been sent to your school’s advisor.
2. On the site, you will see an "Upload a new resolution" button. Click that and enter your details: name, country, committee and topic correctly. Please also upload your resolution, ensuring it is a word document.
3. Now you're all done! To see how your resolution is progressing, search for your name in the search bar in the ‘Name’ column and right next to it will be a status indicator where you can use the status key to find out how your resolution is progressing.
4. To view resolutions for debate in committee, you can use the filters at the top to search for a resolution, then click on the name of the delegate to download their resolution.
We wish you the best of luck with your resolution submissions!
All language should be appropriate to debate and parliamentary. Swearing and personal insults will not be tolerated at HabsMUN 2026 and will result in punishment. When saying something, please consider ‘is this diplomatic language?’
• There are two Tuck Shops operating at HabsMUN: one in the Bourne Foyer (Habs Boys) and one next to the Cafeteria (Habs Girls).

• Use the QR code in your committee room, or form on our website to order Tuck to your committee room.
We encourage you to use the Bourne Foyer area as a place to relax during breaks and socialise with other delegates!

• Delegates will require a certain number of co-submitters before they can be selected for debate; this number will be up to the chairs' discretion at HabsMUN 2026.
• There are a couple of regulations to which delegates must adhere.
o First, a signature that has been obtained from a delegate of the same school as the main submitter is not valid.
o Secondly, only two signatures from delegates of the same school are permitted.
• Apart from signatures, lobbying is also a time where one may wish to set-up yield chains and determine potential allies in the committee, as well get to know the other delegates with whom they will be debating.
• After the requisite number of signatures has been collected, the resolution and signature sheet should be given to a member of the Secretariat team who will complete the approvals process.
Debates at HabsMUN 2026 will be Open Debate – HabsMUN 2026 will follow standard THIMUN procedure.
1. Chair must call the floor to order and announce the resolution that is about to be debated.
2. Chair calls up the main submitter to take the floor and read out the operative clauses. (N.B. Operative clauses are not read out in GA debates).
3. The Chair will then invite the speaker to make a 2-minute speech.
4. The Chair will then ask the speaker whether the delegate opens himself/herself up to any points of information.
2026
5. At HabsMUN 2026 there will be 2-3 points of information after a speech. (Delegates will also be allowed to reject points of information altogether or request a specific number of points of information).
6. The Chair will then ask the speaker "Does the delegate wish to yield the floor back to the Chair or to another delegation?". (Delegates will not be allowed to yield to other delegates from their school and a yield Chain can only include 2 delegates)
7. The Chair will then move the committee into open debate and amendments will be allowed to be submitted.
8. The standard speaking time from then onwards will be 1-2 minutes at the discretion of the Chair.
When a delegate would like to submit an amendment, they are to request amendment paper from Secretariat. Amendments must be written on official HabsMUN 2026 amendment paper.
• When the delegate has finished writing their amendment, they are to send it to the chair. If the chair deems the amendment interesting for debate, they it will be typed up and displayed on screen.
• The Chair will call the delegate up to the floor and say, "It will be in order to debate your amendment“; the delegate will be asked to read out their amendment.
• Then the chair will declare a length of time for and against the amendment. At HabsMUN 2026 amendments will also be debated in the open debate format.
• When time against the amendment has run out the Chair will move to voting procedure. Remember that no delegate can abstain from voting on an amendment as it is a procedural vote.
After the final speech has been made, the Chair will declare to the committee "Time on this resolution has now elapsed therefore we will be moving into voting procedure.“ The Chair will ask delegates to raise their placard to vote for, against or abstain. There shall be no "Motions to Divide the House" at HabsMUN 2026
