TMS Schulich Innovation & Entrepreneurial Experience The TMS Schulich Innovation & Entrepreneurial Experience is a collaboration between YSpace at York University, the Schulich Executive Education Centre and TMS. The TSE is a six month program that has three unique phases: Ideation, Incubation and Immersion. The students take part in a six month program (February to July) that culminates in a two-week immersive experiential application of design and systems thinking to help move a passion project from concept to reality and benefit from “This program gives the a unique opportunity to work with industry experts in an innovative foundation for forward thinking and leading edge university environment.

For 2024, the TMS Schulich Innovation & Entrepreneurial Experience will continue to use the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. For TSE 2024, the focus is on Food Security and Sustainability where students can explore a range of options under this theme including access to food and water, impact of population growth on food security, inflation, animal rights and endangered species, effects of pollution and climate change, and the ripple effects of world crises (war, refugees) on food security and sustainability.

This is a unique program that Schulich/YSpace have developed for high-school age students at TMS - the only one of its kind in the independent school system. All participants will develop a learner profile portfolio, receive a Schulich certificate and develop connections to academics and practitioners as mentors and resources for potential on-going learning opportunities.

The students will participate in a range of connected workshops led by Schulich instructors, York University academics, entrepreneurs and social change advocates on topics such as:

Key Tools & Competencies A key goal of this program is to introduce students to some specific tools and competencies that are essential in school, work and life. This tool belt represents their accumulated capabilities. The tools we have identified for the TSE are:

TMS Schulich Experience 2024

• The on-site program will run July 2-12, 2024 (Please note the program will start on Tuesday July 2 with a fun field trip on Saturday July 6) • TMS will provide a bus that will run to/from the Upper School each day. There is no additional cost for this bus.

• Applications will be made available in December 1, 2023 and are due January 12, 2024.

Applicants will have an interview to assess their goals and interest in the program.

• Confirmation of participation will be made by February 9, 2024.

• We will hold several pre-sessions between March and June on Design Thinking, Self-Assessment, and Ideation. These sessions will be held during the school day.

• Cost: $3750 + HST ($4,237.50) (cost includes all fieldtrips, materials, lunch and the bus), payable to York University. Please note a 25% non-refundable deposit will be due March 1, 2024 to secure a place.
