The city of Las Vegas is collaborating with three local artists to install temporary sculptures on pedestals along Main Street in the Arts District. These works will be on display through summer 2027.
The Aerial Gallery Banners Exhibition along First Street, from Bridger to Boulder Avenues, features artists Christina Flores, Cida de Aragon, Lille Allen, Quindo Miller, Shan Michael Evans, Sol Martinez, Stephanie Sumler and Tatsiana Harbacheuskaya. The banners will be on display through November 2027.
The city of Las Vegas is proud to partner with artist Krystal Ramirez on a newly commissioned sculpture, The Night We Met, created specifically for the Las Vegas Civic Center buildings and plaza.
The city of Las Vegas has commissioned two permanent sculptures to enrich the Medical District: Starchild by Mark Brandvik and Brainstorm by Wayne Littlejohn. These artworks celebrate creativity and innovation at the center of the city’s growing healthcare hub. Brainstorm will be installed in front of the UNLV Dental School on Shadow Lane, while Starchild will be placed at the northeast corner of Shadow Lane and Wellness Way. Both sculptures are scheduled for installation by the end of 2025.
The conservation of one of the city’s largest public artworks is anticipated to be completed by December 2025. We look forward to unveiling the artwork fully restored and shining brighter than ever.
Westside Education and Training Center
Artist Adolfo Gonzalez has been selected to create a mural and sculpture for the forthcoming center, located at the corner of D Street and Jefferson Avenue in the Historic Westside. The mural and sculpture are scheduled to be installed by December 2025.
Artists are selected to install temporary exhibitions as part of the Windows on First exhibition space at City Hall along the First Street Art Trail. Loisse Ledres’ installation, See The Music All Around Us, is on display through March 2026.

Sugar Skull Workshop

In this two-hour workshop, you will learn about the customs of Dia de Los Muertos and the symbolism of the sugar skull. This “hands-on” workshop allows you to decorate a pre-molded sugar skull. This day camp is available at multiple recreation centers throughout the city of Las Vegas. Camp activities include arts and crafts, sports, games, music, life skills, physical fitness and fun, all with trained adult supervision. At the inclusive adaptive day camp at Dula Community Center, youth ages 5-21 with diverse abilities will learn social, leisure and independence skills while having fun with peers. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Financial assistance is available; financial aid applications must be submitted to the community center coordinator.

This is an aquatics class for homeschooled children ages 5-17 looking to receive credit towards their physical education requirement. Students focus on fundamental aquatic sports skills, components of health and fitness, exercise and games. A different aquatic sport will be offered each week. Students perform at an individual pace. Splash Springboard Diving (ages 7-17)
The diving lesson program is designed to provide safe and fun instruction on the aspects of springboard diving. Must be comfortable in deep water. Sessions are 4 weeks long.

Log Rolling
The challenge of this fun, safe class is to develop the quick feet and balance required to stay on top of a floating log. Once students are able to stay up for at least two minutes, they’ll learn how to compete, as two rollers try to make each other fall off, using their fancy footwork. Log rolling is an exciting, fast-paced activity that improves agility and speed. Bring your swimsuit and towel. Open to all ages 7-17. Sessions are 4 weeks long.

Our adult sports leagues for ages 18 and older provide a blend of fun, competition and camaraderie, whether you are looking to relive your glory days or simply want to stay active. By offering various playing levels and divisions, we are able to welcome players of all abilities. All leagues run 6-8 weeks.
Pickleball
Individual registration. We play a random roundrobin team format. Evening and morning leagues are offered; days/times depend on division/playing level. Matches played at Bill Briare, Durango Hills, Aloha Shores and Police Memorial Park pickleball courts. Divisions: Mixed, Women’s, Seniors. Playing Levels: 2.5-3.0, 3.0-3.5, 3.5-4.0, 4.0-4.5.

The Minker Sports Complex features six well-maintained racquetball courts with no wait times and the option to reserve a court for a specific time. Minker offers two leagues: Tuesday Night Doubles and Wednesday Night Singles. To participate, you must be a member.

The Minker Sports Complex offers daily open-play pickleball for all skill levels. There are three indoor hardwood courts, and players rotate based on the number of participants. Paddles are available for new players and balls are provided.

The Strong Start GO! Mobile Pre-K Academy programs provide families in underserved communities with a unique opportunity to attend a high-quality, early-learning program in their neighborhood. During production, standard RVs are transformed into mobile preschool classrooms, complete with a restroom, learning centers, and traditional preschool furniture and equipment. Strong Start GO! Mobile Pre-K Academies offer half-day preschool programs for children ages 3-5 and focus on the academic, social-emotional and physical development of each child. Strong Start GO! Mobile Pre-K Academies serve four locations and a maximum of 30 students per location. The Special Events Unit assists local, regional and national event coordinators on permitting, logistics, necessary approvals, and more for any large-scale event that takes places within the city of Las Vegas jurisdiction. We host hundreds of events every year throughout the city to include a monthly First Friday celebration, Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon, Mint 400, The Great Santa Run, spectacular parades and more.

Parks have the power to build strong and resilient communities, foster healthy environments for all to enjoy and bring our community to life. The Special Events Unit issues permits for the use of park areas and facilities to the general public for recreation activities and programs. A park special event permit is needed when 100 or more people are expected at a park pavilion or picnic shelter, 75 or more are expected at an area other than park pavilion or picnic shelter, or other special event elements are brought into the park. Park special events include weddings, family reunions, farmers markets, music and cultural festivals, company picnics and more.

Park pavilions are available for groups up to 200 people and cost between $15 — $75 per hour, depending on the size of your group. In addition to shade, some of these areas have large tables and barbecue grills. To reserve a park pavilion or picnic shelter, contact our reservations line at 702.229.6718.
Looking for a theatre, ballroom, wedding location, indoor theater or outdoor amphitheater to host your event? The city has all of those locations and more available. If you are in need of a mobile stage, we also have those available to rent for your event.

The historic hay barn is now available for rental. If you are looking for a unique place for a wedding or special event, this is a great new option. The hay barn has an adjacent outdoor gazebo and large fenced grassy area. Email parkspecialevents@lasvegasnevada. gov for more information and rental availability.

The Safekey before- and after-school program is available at select elementary school locations for students in grades K-5. Caring adult role models engage students in a variety of enrichment, recreation and social activities, work on homework and provide a daily snack.
