THE LOOP A COLLECTION OF STORIES FROM AROUND NEVADA
APRIL 2024
ISSUE 37
VOLUME 4
Greetings from WestCare Nevada, Fitting perfectly with the spirit of the season, this Spring, we celebrated some old traditions and some new events that continue our movement toward Uplifting the Human Spirit. When we think about Spring, one tradition that may come to mind is spring cleaning. With that, WestCare Nevada received a large donation of items from Zappos; what could be considered spring cleaning for them, however, for us, are items that we will be able to use within our programs for many years to come. Thank you, Zappos! Members of our development team had the privilege of attending the Wonder Women of Metro Luncheon, which aligns with Spring when we think about growth. It is safe to say that the honorees at the luncheon exemplified growth, dedication, and talent. Similarly, so were the most recent recipients of our WestCare Nevada CORE Awards. Congratulations to Ms. Monica Brown, Ms. Rhonda Davisson-Rhames, Ms. Kelly Jeffries (Giustina), Mr. Brian Nelson, and Ms. Sharon Schlesner for their awards, and thank you to them for exhibiting the traits of Encouragement and Dedication with clients served in our programs. Another part of Spring is new beginnings, and in our effort to embrace something new, WestCare Nevada participated in and was chosen to receive proceeds from the Uplift Open Golf Tournament sponsored by Camp Rhino Northwest. Although the team representing WestCare did not win this time around, Harris Springs Ranch (HSR) benefited from the event with a $1,000 donation.
Another such tradition is our Alumni Spring Fling event, an event that gives our alumni the opportunity to give back to those currently in treatment and an opportunity to see how much fun recovery events can be when we gather with our WestCare family, both past and present. So, with much of what goes with Spring like cleaning, growth, new beginnings, rebirth, hope, redemption, and gatherings - I cannot think about these things without understanding how they all can nurture a sense of optimism. It serves as a cornerstone of resilience and the promise of brighter days ahead if we continue to put others before ourselves and maintain an attitude of gratitude and an attitude of service to those in need. We at WestCare Nevada truly hope that you enjoy what you see and read in this issue of the Loop Newsletter.

Traditionally, for WestCare Nevada, Spring also brings us a spirit of rebirth, hope, and redemption, and the Easter celebration at the Women and Children's Campus (WCC) did just that. The joy experienced by the children, their mothers, and even the staff was evidence of how successful this celebration has been over the years.
