INSURANCE
HEALTH, DENTAL AND VISION INSURANCE
For the first three years of employment, WCS pays for 100% of your single health and dental insurance, and 75% of your dependent health insurance. Full family health coverage is paid for by WCS after three years of employment. Voluntary employee or family vision insurance is also available.
LIFE INSURANCE
WCS provides a $60k term life insurance policy for all eligible certified staff. Employees may purchase an additional $125k of coverage at the district’s group rate.
INCOME PROTECTION INSURANCE (DISABILITY)
Income protection insurance is provided for all eligible certified staff. After a 90-day disability, the insurance may provide up to two-thirds of the total salary and benefits.

TEACHER MENTORING PROGRAM
Each newly hired certified staff member is enrolled in our mentorship program, Westside Way, and assigned a mentor during their first year of employment. These mentors help cultivate a professional relationship focused on effective instructional practices, encompassing district methodologies, collaborating on programming and resources, and providing support to enable the growth and development of our new to Westside educators.

Program initiatives ensure that all students and staff feel welcomed and valued and focus on Welcoming, Equity, Support, Inclusion, and Dignity for Everyone.
WORKERS’ COMPENSATION
WCS pays the cost for insurance to cover injuries incurred while actively engaged in school assignments.
The Westside Way program allowed for connections with teammates throughout the district. This provided me with a broader depth of collaboration and increased my knowledge and growth within the field of education.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP)
A confidential employee assistance program is offered free of charge to assist in identifying and resolving personal issues.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING (SECTION 125 PLAN)
All full-time and part-time staff working at least 20 hours weekly are eligible for pretax deductions for insurance premiums, non-reimbursed medical expenses and dependent care.
WESTSIDE WELLNESS
Staff have the opportunity to participate in a robust district-wide program involving wellness activities. WCS provides monetary and duty time-based incentives aimed at promoting the health and wellness of the staff.
MASTER’S DEGREE TUITION REIMBURSEMENT
100% tuition reimbursement is available (upon approval) to eligible certified staff seeking their first graduate degree.

EXTRA DUTY ASSIGNMENTS
Extra duty assignments are available, with payment following the established extra duty schedule, negotiated agreement, and/or other applicable policy guidance and practices.

NEBRASKA PUBLIC EMPLOYEE RETIREMENT SYSTEMS
As required by law, all employees working 20 hours a week or more participate in the Nebraska Public Employee Retirement System through payroll deductions of 9.78% of the monthly salary. WCS matches employee contributions at 101%.
TAX SHELTERED DEDUCTIONS (403B)
At the request of the employee, a 403b program is available by payroll deduction through approved representatives and vendors.
