I am a Soho-based multidisciplinary artist working under the name pluspointsphere.

I make things: paintings, collages, prints, comics, moving pictures, dance pieces.

I find my inspiration in my surrounds: streets, pavements, walls, lights, parks, bridges, water, river, the rhythmical patterns of different environments.

I use acrylics, oils, inks, watercolours, plaster of Paris, but also, found objects, fabric, glass, resins, ash, sounds, words, movement.

This portfolio includes pieces I completed in the last two years (2025-26).

Most of the pieces included here started life as elements in an installation I created and exhibited as a pop-up, at the front of a clothes showroom at Smith’s Court, Soho 10-20 December 2021.* Since then, I have reworked them to give them their independence from the installation. Still river is their origin story, so I include part of it below.

River begun as a love affair with the Thames. It became a way of puzzling out the arrangement of the bits and pieces of a remembered life.

The first twelve pieces are reworked versions of pieces from the first section of river called A-Z: an alphabet of memories, a handy way to order past events and temper experiences, like pages in a picture book.

The drawings are of details of old black and white photographic reproductions of landscapes painted by Caspar David Friedrich.

Cutting Angels. The paintings are based on the memory of a Russian or Byzantine icon I saw when I was very little. The icon showed an angel cutting the hands of a man kneeling beside and touching the bed where Mary, mother of Jesus, is laid in death, or rather in her ‘sleep’, called ‘dormition’.

The image stayed in my mind. The four paintings represent mutilation suffered. The angel can be thought to have suffered a loss and be grieving. The main focus, however, is on the terror of the mutilated, who faces the alien and implacable power of the angel.

The companions of Cutting Angels are Storms, Waves and the Scars, Ruins trio of landscapes. This is because Storms, Waves represents barely making it – it’s still stormy and survival uncertain. By contrast, the landscapes are peaceful.

They represent loss as absence, but, because they stand together, they create some sort of balance.

Early versions of this group of wrks appeared in the penultimate section of river, about a child’s life.
