Video Marketing Compliance

Why this shouldn’t be ignored:

You’ll probably go viral and then every regulator is going to be looking at your video. So, let’s play it safe.

Even if it doesn’t go viral, no video is worth losing your ability to close loans.

What is needed by compliance on videos?

•Your NMLS #

•Licensed address

•Company logo or name

•NMLS 8259

•“Equal Housing Lender” or the logo

•nmlsconsumeraccess.org

When

Is More Needed?

Additional disclaimers are often necessary. Always submit your video to marketing for review. You will need extra disclaimers if any trigger terms are used.

Common examples include:

•“30 year”: Any mention of a repayment period or number of payments.

•“Payment of $1,200 a month.”: Any mention of a payment amount.

•Interest rates amounts.

Where Should that Information Be?

Required information, including disclaimers, must be readable and can be placed:

In the video itself: Ensure it is displayed long enough for viewers to read.

In the video caption: Especially on social media platforms.

Videos for Realtors or Industry Professionals:

Avoid posting these on social media. If posted on channels for industry professionals, include this disclosure: “NOT FOR CONSUMER USE. FOR INDUSTRY USE ONLY.”

What else do I need to know?

Submit your video through the creative brief form for a compliance check and further suggestions. For detailed requirements and disclaimer examples, refer to the compliance marketing guide.
