Lone Pine strives to foster a safe environment so students can succeed. Students learn and practice skills to meet expectations for behavior. Teachers explicitly teach social and emotional skills utilizing district curriculum. Reports of harassment/bullying are investigated and addressed with serious concern. Staff meet together regularly to review data to monitor behavior and adjust instruction to support safety goals. Staff are trained each year on the latest safety protocols and procedures. Our top priority is to create a school community that is positive, welcoming, and safe for everyone. All students enjoy both breakfast and lunch at no charge to families. Our counseling program integrates social-emotional lessons to enhance students' understanding of themselves and others. We teach clear, positive expectations. When students meet or exceed those expectations, they are recognized. When needed, we provide multiple opportunities to re-learn expectations. We have a full-time school resource officer who works closely with staff and students to ensure that our school is safe.

About Our School
BULLYING, HARASSMENT, AND SAFETY POLICIES
To ensure a safe and secure learning environment, we follow a positive behavior support approach. We establish and teach students the behaviors and expectations of our school. We have a system that includes levels of interventions, supports and celebrations. We also have a school mantra of kindness that is woven into our daily interactions with each other. We monitor students' safety and well-being while using district technology, and students are able to report any incidents of harassment, bullying, and threats. We also have a full-time counselor and school resource officer who are closely connected to our students and school community.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Hedrick offers several academic focused extracurricular activities: Brain Bowl, Pentagames, Math Counts, and Battle of the Books. We support a number of clubs that meet during lunch and after school that allow students to engage with peers in various areas of interest. Our school offers a variety of seasonal sports where teams compete in a local middle school athletic conference. Our 6th grade students participate in outdoor school during the school year.
PARENT ENGAGEMENT
We aim to harmonize the community by engaging all families! We host various events for students and families. We have an annual awards night and student-of-themonth celebrations where many students are celebrated for their academic achievements and personal accomplishments. Parents are invited to celebrate their children and support them in their learning. Our student-led conferences are an opportunity for students, parents, and staff to team together to support and celebrate our students.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
We connect with a variety of community partners to provide our students with learning and support opportunities: Maslow Project, Family Solutions, Sparrow Club, and Happy Smiles. Each year we hold the Hedrick Showdown fundraiser that is sponsored by local businesses. The money we earn supports students in need and student activities.
