About this story
This story first came to be during a CGC, Why Lead? Course. Nicola Daykin (Grade 6 Small Class Teacher and Middle School Division Coordinator), along with other course participants was asked to write a story about an ideal school. In her creative way, Nicola crafted her story as dialogue between two people. Based on style of writing and the inspiring story, Gerry De Fazio (Head of Learning, Strategy and Innovation) wondered if this could be recreated in a comic/manga style and knew exactly the student to ask to help make it possible.
Seren Dow, (2021/22 Grade 7 student) eagerly and courageously said yes to the idea of taking the story and illustrating it. Her process involved careful character development before commencing with the illustrations.
While not necessarily based on Montcrest as such, we hope that this story inspires others to imagine a school where this is type of learning is the norm.
