PUBLIC ART

Aerial Gallery

The city of Las Vegas Public Art Program brings new artists to the Aerial Gallery banners along First Street from Bridger to Boulder avenues. The featured artists are Bonnie Kelso, Deborah Lambin, Eugene Lang, JK Russ, Linda Alterwitz, Nhan Nguyen, Shawanda Schiefer and Suzanne Acosta. The banners will be on display through June 2025.

East Las Vegas Neighborhood Revitalization | Listos y Seguros

The city of Las Vegas Public Art Program is working with artist Justin Favela to bring new artwork to the eastside community in early 2026.

Medical District Public Art Projects

The city of Las Vegas Public Art Program is working with three artists to install sculptures in the Las Vegas Medical District by the end of 2025.

Paintbrush Gateway

A national call will be opened to request proposals on restoring the paintbrush sculptures created by Dennis Oppenheim.

Windows On First

Artists are selected to install temporary exhibitions in the Windows on First exhibition space at City Hall along the First Street Art Trail. Sara Odom’s "Rainbow Spotting" installation may be viewed through March 2025.

Black Weekend 2025: Kemet in the Desert Lecture Series

The 12th annual Black Weekend 2025: Kemet in the Desert (KITD) lecture series in recognition of Black History Month is a cultural celebration of the African diaspora inclusive of dancing, music, spoken word and affirmations in afro-ritualistic traditions. KITD enlightens and awakens the community by presenting world-renowned master teachers of African and Egyptian history, culture and religion. Co-presented with the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District and Platinum Productions. Executive Director Oscar Robinson will host this series. The event is held in honor of KITD founder Franklyn G. Verley III. The event will take place at the West Las Vegas Library Theatre, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd.

Master African Dance/Drumming Workshop

Master Wilfried (Willy) Souly will teach an African Drum and Dance Workshop. Souly is a choreographer, dancer, drummer from Burkina Faso in West Africa. The city hosts thousands of classes, programs, workshops and events throughout the year at our recreation centers, active adult centers, sports complexes and swimming pools. We are very proud of our robust adaptive recreation program that hosts indoor and outdoor activities for youth and adults of all abilities.

YOUTH SPORTS LEAGUE

Our youth recreation sports leagues are community-based and volunteer-led programs that provide young athletes the opportunity to participate in various sports, learn new skills and make new friends. All leagues register individuals. Players will be placed on teams in their proper divisions, based on age. The season runs six-eight weeks, with one game and one practice per week. SPRING ADULT SPORTS LEAGUES (ages 18+)

Our adult sports leagues provide a blend of fun, competition and camaraderie, whether you are looking to relive your glory days or simply want to stay active. By offering various playing levels and divisions, we welcome players of all abilities. All leagues run sixeight weeks. For more information, call 702.229. Pickleball

Individual registration. We play a random roundrobin team format. Evening and morning leagues are offered; days/times depend on division/playing level. Matches are played at Bill Briare Family Park and Durango Hills Park Pickleball courts. Divisions: Mixed, Women, Seniors. Playing Levels: 2.5-3.0, 3.03.5, 3.5-4.0, 4.0-4.5. Fee: $50 per person. Registration: Feb. 12-March 26 Season starts March 29.

Softball

Team registration only; we play double headers each night for seven weeks of regular season plus endof-season playoffs. Teams must provide game balls nightly. Games played at Lorenzi Park and Veterans Memorial Fields.

Fee: $400/team, plus $183 umpire fees.

Registration: Feb. 12-March 19 Season starts March 31.

Volleyball

This is a recreational fun, self-officiated, outdoor 6v6 sand volleyball league. Play Thursdays nights starting at 7 p.m. Games played at Centennial Hills Park sand volleyball courts.

Fee: $150/team

Registration: Feb. 12-26 Season starts March 6.

Corporate League

We offer a customized experience based on the needs of each company. Our programs are an excellent platform for employees to bond and build team morale, while staying active and enjoying healthy competition and camaraderie. Adult Racquetball Leagues

The Minker Sports Complex has six well-maintained racquetball courts, ready for play — no waiting and the ability to reserve a court for a specific time. Minker offers two different leagues – Tuesday Night Doubles and Wednesday Night Singles. You must be a paid member to participate. Membership includes all amenities in the facility.

2025 Winter Season

Registration: Call 702.229.6563 for specific dates. League Dates: Tuesday Doubles (6-9 p.m.) and Wednesday Singles (6-9 p.m.)

Fee: $10 members only (must have a fitness pass to participate).

Open-Play Pickleball

Minker offers daily open-play Pickleball for all levels of players. There are three indoor hardwood courts and players rotate consistently, based on the number of players. This is a great opportunity to get out of the heat and enjoy fun Pickleball games with a variety of player levels. Paddles are available for any new player; balls are provided.

Yoga

Enjoy beginner-level yoga classes. This is an introduction to all the benefits and basics of yoga. This is an excellent stretch and strength class to help improve an individual's overall fitness.

Circuit Training

Circuit training is a form of body conditioning that involves endurance training, resistance training, high-intensity aerobics and exercises performed in a circuit, similar to high-intensity interval training. It targets strength-building and muscular endurance.

Adult Basketball League

The adult basketball league offers recreational and advanced levels of play.

Open Gym Volleyball

Open Gym Volleyball is an informal, unstructured volleyball session where players can play without pre-registration. Open gym is for players of all skill levels, ages and genders. Players can come and go as they please. Coaches and referees will not be provided. All players must share the court.

ADAPTIVE RECREATION DULA

B Fit Fitness Program (adults)

Learn the proper techniques and form for working out with not only body weight but equipment. Our group participates in a fitness routine that helps with strength and cardio. The group also participates in other new activities, such as yoga and pilates. B Fit is twice a week for anyone over the age of 18 with diverse abilities. Leisure Connection

This program is a social skills group for adults 18 and older with diverse abilities. Community outings and special events are planned each month to assist individuals that require low support in the community to become independent. This groups assists with social, recreational and independent skills to allow individuals to create new relationships and have fun out in the community. Veteran Kayak Fishing

Kayak Fishing will take veterans out to Lake Mead for a day of adventure and learning. This program will partner with nonprofit Heroes on the Water to help enhance the day with more resources and assistance on the water.

TBI Cycling Clinic

Cycling clinic available for individuals who have a traumatic brain injury. These are offered once a month.

Strong Start GO!

The Strong Start GO! Mobile Pre-K Academy programs provide families in underserved communities with a unique opportunity to attend a high-quality, early-learning program in their neighborhood. During production, standard RVs are transformed into mobile preschool classrooms, complete with a restroom, learning centers, and traditional preschool furniture and equipment. Strong Start GO! Mobile Pre-K Academies offer half-day preschool programs for children ages 3-5 and focus on the academic, social-emotional and physical development of each child, in addition to providing families with opportunities to engage in their child’s learning. Citywide Unity Prayer Celebration

The Citywide Unity Prayer Celebration takes place twice a year. It is sponsored by the city of Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and various faith-based organizations in the community. The events are in collaboration with the Mayor’s Faith Initiative, a working group formed in 2012 with more than 120 faith leaders representing more than 70,000 congregants within the Las Vegas valley. The Neighborhood Partners Fund (NPF) is a grant the city of Las Vegas offers every year to registered Neighborhood Associations and Homeowner Associations (HOA) within city limits. Associations and HOAs have the opportunity to apply for up to $5,000 annually to support efforts that improve the quality of life for the residents and bring the neighborhood together! Eligible projects may include:

Be Neighborly

Be Neighborly is an innovative approach to connecting neighborhoods and creating a space to inform residents about city resources relating to their unique concerns, such as code enforcement, public safety and neighborhood beautification. Special Events

The Special Events Unit assists local, regional and national event coordinators on permitting, logistics, necessary approvals, and more for any large-scale event that takes places within the city of Las Vegas jurisdiction. We host hundreds of events every year throughout the city to include a monthly First Friday celebration, Life Is Beautiful Festival, Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon, Mint 400, The Great Santa Run, spectacular parades and more.

Park Special Events

Parks have the power to build strong and resilient communities, foster healthy environments for all to enjoy and bring our community to life. The Special Events Unit issues permits for the use of park areas and facilities to the general public for recreation activities and programs. A park special event permit is needed when 100 or more people are expected at a park pavilion or picnic shelter, 75 or more are expected at an area other than park pavilion or picnic shelter, or other special event elements are brought into the park. Park special events include weddings, family reunions, farmers markets, music and cultural festivals, company picnics and more.

Picnic Shelter Reservations

Park pavilions are available for groups up to 200 people and cost between $15 — $75 per hour, depending on the size of your group. In addition to shade, some of these areas have large tables and barbecue grills. To reserve a park pavilion or picnic shelter, contact our reservations line at 702.229.6718.
