WHAT FAMILIES ARE SAYING

“You feel the heartbeat of Scatico as soon as you step onto camp. Scatico deeply understands what children need- spirit, tradition, and meaningful ways to connect without the noise of modern life. Scatico is a place to slow down and just be a kid.”
“In all the things that truly matter in life, Scatico knocks it out of the park. Those that experience Scatico are all the better for it.”

“Thank you for your patience and being educators and truly caring about the campers. I think you are experts and see each kid and put their skills on a pedestal. You really have a mission and you always deliver it.”
“Scatico continues to be way ahead of the sleepaway curve and we feel blessed to have this storied place as an invaluable resource. ”
“The joy the boys experience in camp is so beautiful to witness. Whenever they are asked what they like, they respond with, ‘Everything.’ If we ask who is their best friend in camp, they say ‘Everyone ’ [Our son] loves to be silly, but what was most poignant in his feedback was his deep, vulnerable conversations with his bunkmates… these conversations were the highlight of his summer. For a boy to experience this depth of friendship and vulnerability is something that will benefit him for his whole life.”
“My kids both count down the days to camp, it is the place they can relax and be fully themselves with their best friends in the world. I love that Scatico teaches them about what is truly important, and I love that camp for them will always be a part of who they are!”

NOT-TOO-LARGE CAMPER POPULATION
Campers are divided into 8 groups, based on age. With under 25 campers per age group, Scatico has an intimate, family feel.
UNIFORM
Campers wear plain white t-shirts and green shorts daily (no logo needed). Staff wear plain white tees. The uniform is simple and supports our goal of minimizing social pressures.
HIGH CAMPER + STAFF RETURN RATES
90% or more of our campers and nearly 75% of our staff return each summer. Over 75% of cabin counselors are former Scatico campers who have been with us for 10+ years; the remainder travel to us from 20+ countries and counting!
4 GENERATIONS OF FAMILY LEADERSHIP
Founded by the Fleischner/Holman family in 1921, Scatico celebrated its centennial of family ownership in 2021.
STRUCTURED DAILY PROGRAM
Daily activities are balanced (sports, arts, water, and outdoor adventure) and group-oriented, yet also provide opportunities for individual choice.
BROTHER-SISTER CAMP
A happy medium between a co-ed and single-sex camp experience. Boys and girls have separate activity facilities, campuses, and dining rooms, but on a single property. There is a strong emphasis on brotherhood and sisterhood, mixed with co-ed special events and activities.
O U R C O R E V A L U E S
Scatico believes in the power of camp to build future generations of open minds and open hearts in which every child is their authentic self and embraces that of others. Through four generations of family ownership, Scatico has worked to provide a second home for campers and staff from the moment they step through our gates. At Scatico, campers and staff explore, learn, and play together to discover passions, make lifelong friends, and grow into the fullest version of themselves. Scatico empowers campers and staff to develop empathetic and socially-responsive ways of thinking, feeling, and living in an ever-changing world.

TIME TO BE A KID
LIFELONG COMMUNITY
At Scatico we connect campers and staff to a collective past and future. Whether you ’ ve been at camp for one summer or 20, you are a member of the Scatico family-- part of over a century of camping history with generations of stories and memories still to come.
At Scatico, we believe in the power of spontaneous play and finding joy in the rhythms of communal living. Scatico is a place where campers and staff are encouraged to tap into their creativity and silliness, and to appreciate the small, unexpected moments of daily camp life.

PERSONAL GROWTH: EMBRACE THE JOURNEY
At Scatico, campers live and work collaboratively as teammates, leaders and friends. We believe camp is a journey in which campers ’ skills and perspectives evolve as they embrace new experiences, discover and develop their passions, and gain independence.
FROM THE 12523, TO THE WORLD
At Scatico, we inspire campers to re-envision what is possible beyond the 12523. We are committed to social justice and equity for marginalized identities and strive to lay a foundation from which campers can develop social responsiveness and positively impact a world in which we all want to live.

"[My child] has grown so much in one week and experienced so many new and exciting things. This far exceeded any great expectations we had for Scatico. [Our child] is so full of stories and it sounds like every single person that worked with the SITs this week went above and beyond to care for them."
