BREWERS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION BREWERS COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Our mission is to harness the pride, passion and commitment of Brewers fans, players and other supporters to positively impact the lives of children and their families in greater Milwaukee and Wisconsin. We extend financial support and leadership to nonprofits that provide quality programming in the areas of health, education, recreation and basic needs. The Milwaukee Brewers are proud to give back to our community in many ways. We consider our philanthropic efforts an important part of who we are as an organization.
Thousands of educational, youth and non-profit organizations benefit through the support of individuals and auction items provided by the Milwaukee Brewers. By supporting charitable causes, Brewers players and coaches, Brewers Wives, front office staff, along with Principal Owner Mark Attanasio, continue to exercise their pledge to be an active organization in the community and help improve the welfare of people throughout our region.
We are pleased to give back to dedicated fans who have supported the Brewers throughout the years.

FOUNDATION BREWERS COMMUNITY RELATIONS BREWERS COMMUNITYBrewers fans, players and other supporters enthusiastically participate each season in various initiatives that generate much-needed resources to support hardworking and essential community organizations.
Mark and Debbie Attanasio remain dedicated to and personally involved with all aspects of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club’s community outreach. The Attanasios committed to four cornerstone pledges when the team was purchased in January 2005, and “remaining a leader in the community” continues to be one of the promises - as well as a priority. Their vision is to be thoughtful, dependable, philanthropic leaders actively engaged in providing needed financial support and leadership to the community.
Brewers Community Relations introduced “Beyond the Diamond” in 2013 - an umbrella program highlighting the organization’s philanthropic outreach efforts. From May to August, “Beyond the Diamond” includes a series of community outreach eventsall of which involve partnering with players, coaches, Brewers Wives, alumni and front office staff, working hands-on in the community.
The events are funded in part by Brewers Community Foundation and focus on the Foundation’s four areas of interest: Health, Education, Recreation and Basic Needs.
MARK & DEBBIEStudents from all public and private schools in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Washington and Waukesha Counties are encouraged to create a video that demonstrates a positive message to “Strike Out Bullying.” Teachers submit their team’s video via a form at brewers.com/ beyondthediamond. The winning video is selected by a panel of judges assembled by the Brewers after being assessed on a concise and positive message that incorporates creativity and originality. Brewers players visit the winning school to deliver an important message about bullying and its impact. The contest winner’s class will attend the Brewers game the next day as guests of the organization. (The winning entry receives a grand prize, which includes a visit from Brewers players as well as tickets and
Players, Brewers Wives and front office staff assist organizers from Habitat for Humanity and residents of the local community on a house build. The event is sponsored by Brewers Community Foundation.
Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Visit
Brewers players, alumni and Brewers Wives make bedside visits and give Brewers memorabilia to kids at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
The Brewers assist organizers from KaBoom! to build a new playground at local non-profit organizations. Players also assist with the building, attend the ribbon cutting, thank volunteers, hand out Brewers Buddies tickets, and take group photos.
Several members of the team visit communitybased organizations and read to kids. Each child receives a Brewers activity book, signed by the players in attendance.
Returning for its sixth season, the Brewers Block Party was a neighborhood gathering held at a Milwaukee area park. The day featured games and activities for the whole family, as well as appearances from Brewers players and coaches, Bernie Brewer and the Klement’s Famous Racing Sausages. Free hot dogs, soda and potato chips were provided as well as ice cream treats from the Brewers Treat Truck.
As part of the team’s #KindnessInMke event, virtually every member of the organization, from ownership to front office employees, and players to coaches, fanned out across Milwaukee to give back to the community with surprise acts of kindness. Teammates in the organization, both on and off the field, surprised various unsuspecting patrons and non-profit organizations with acts that showed their appreciation to the community that they call home.
The “Give Back Game,” was an event to raise proceeds for great causes. With this initiative, ticket sale proceeds from the Brewers final home game of the season were donated to local charities. Tickets for the last game were sold for $10 each, and fans had the opportunity to choose from one of four charities to receive a portion of the proceeds from their ticket. In addition, fans were encouraged to add on to their purchases with additional donations that were added to the totals. The four beneficiaries for 2016 were Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, The MACC Fund and the Wisconsin Humane Society. $335,000 was donated in total.
Brewers Community Foundation featured four drives with our generous fans during the season. Presented by our Leadership Council, fan donations included school supplies, warm hats & mittens, peanut butter and full sized toiletry items for shelters. Fans who donated items for the drives and/or contributed $5 received a one-of-a-kind commemorative pin. Supplies were then donated to local non-profits.
During BCF Week, a variety of special fundraisers are featured every day for an entire week in support of Brewers Community Foundation. BCF week also includes the “Ultimate Online Auction,” featuring Brewers memorabilia and V.I.P. experiences, autographed jerseys, and games and raffles for fans to enjoy throughout the week-long annual event.
BCF Week is a fan favorite fundraiser.
Every summer at Miller Park, Brewers Community Foundation hosts the highly anticipated 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk. Each year, nearly 4,000 participants race alongside the Famous Racing Sausages for the entire 5K course. Proceeds from the annual event support Brewers Community Foundation and critical issues facing our community, along with Fisher House, a hospitality house for military families with a loved one receiving medical treatment at Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Each year, Brewers staff and alumni host a group of fathers and children in a suite at Miller Park to watch a Brewers game. This unique program is a tie-in with the Mayor’s Fatherhood Initiative to bring together the past, present and future by raising awareness about the importance of involved, responsible and committed fathers.
Brewers Community Foundation and a Brewers player annually help fund the Girls of Summer Softball League. More than 200 central city girls, ages 10 to 12, learn the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship and discipline while gaining self-esteem. Program partners include Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast and Milwaukee Public Schools Recreation Division.
Each year, a Brewers player hosts the Brewers Bowling event in support of a local non-profit. This is an opportunity for fans to enjoy an evening of bowling with some of their favorite players - all while raising money for a great cause. Pitcher Matt Garza has been the host of the Bowl-a-Thon for the past two years.
In 2013, Mark Attanasio and Brewers Community Foundation launched the inaugural Leadership Council. Recognizing the importance and impact of collaboration, the organizations partnered with Brewers Community Foundation with the goal of leveraging support for non-profit organizations that provide quality services in the areas of health, education, recreation and basic needs. The Leadership Council seized the opportunity to make a measurable difference in our community and served as presenting sponsor for a number of events: The 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk, Brewers Community Foundation Week, Ultimate Online Auction and four Drives for Charity.
“Brewers On Deck” is the team’s annual fan fest and season preview. Families can enjoy a day full of interactive games, clinics, autographs from players and a Brewers Community Foundation Treasure Hunt featuring game-worn jerseys, game-used equipment and other Brewers paraphernalia. All proceeds from the sale go toward Brewers Community Foundation's youth recreation and education programs.
During every home game, Brewers Community Foundation features a 50/50 raffle. Tickets are sold to fans for $2 each, and fifty percent of the net proceeds from the day’s tickets sales goes to one lucky fan, while fifty percent supports quality non-profit organizations. Last year, fans purchased $3.2 million worth of tickets!
The newest BCF event is Hitting 4 the Cycle - a benefit bike ride for novices and experienced riders alike. Riders were offered a choice of four routes - the longest from Madison to Miller Park and the shortest a scenic loop around Milwaukee. A fun day in the saddle culminated with a celebratory tailgate party and an evening Brewers game. Three non-profits were identified as recipients of the proceeds from the inaugural bike ride. Last year's beneficiaries included DreamBikes, Capuchin Community Services and Urban Ecology Center.
Brewers Wives play an important role in our community outreach efforts with their commitment to several important causes. Each summer, the Wives team up with Brewers Community Foundation to raise funds through a number of special events in which the proceeds are earmarked to various organizations in Greater Milwaukee. Several of the Wives, along with their husbands, support area children with game tickets, food vouchers and donations to youth baseball groups.
Each month, the Brewers Wives deliver meals to Sojourner Family Peace Center, a safe haven for distressed women and children. The wives serve the meals to the families and provide gift bags and the dinners are donated by Maggiano’s Little Italy.
Fans have the opportunity to donate $40 in exchange for a mystery bag which contains an autographed baseball by a Brewers player or coach. Brewers Wives are stationed at tables throughout the ballpark selling the mystery bags to benefit Brewers Community Foundation.
Brewers Wives create baskets filled with their husband’s favorite things. The baskets are then raffled off to support various worthy causes.

RBI began more than 20 years ago in Los Angeles. Since then, the Brewers have joined many other Major League Baseball teams in the continuing effort to bring baseball to inner city children, ages 9 to 17. Last year, Milwaukee RBI competed in their first World Series Playoff Tournament with the support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee and funding from Brewers Community Foundation.
The Brewers Buddies ticket program is made possible through contributions from our season seat holders, sponsors, players, ownership group and Baseball Commissioner Emeritus Bud Selig to Brewers Community Foundation. Thousands of complimentary game tickets are distributed to nonprofit community groups through this program.
Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities is an MLB youth baseball initiative in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs. RBI provides children ages 9 to 17 the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game of baseball. Each month, the Brewers honor an RBI athlete who exhibits dedication to academics, community involvement, leadership, reliability and monthly performance. The honoree is recognized on the field and throws out the ceremonial first pitch.

Award winners receive four game tickets, on-field acknowledgement, a personalized jersey and the opportunity to throw out a pre-game ceremonial first pitch. They also receive a Community Achievers certificate and a gift bag filled with Brewers memorabilia.
Brewers Kids Crew is a great way for youngsters 14 and under to experience Major League Baseball. Brewers Kids Crew members get tickets, photo opportunities with the mascots, exclusive Brewers gear, and more.
Hundreds of youngsters gather at Miller Park and at neighborhood parks every summer to learn the finer points of baseball. Brewers players and coaches donate their time to help kids develop proper techniques for hitting, pitching, fielding and base running. The instruction, along with emphasis on sportsmanship and goal setting, makes these clinics invaluable to many area children. It’s also a chance to steal a base and an autograph!
On Cerveceros Day, the Brewers pay an annual tribute to Hispanic baseball heritage by taking the field in their “Cerveceros” jerseys. “Cerveceros” is the Spanish translation of “Brewers.” The annual “Fiesta Tailgate,” along with bilingual PA announcements, scoreboard features and mariachi bands, give the whole ballpark a Latin flair. Game-worn jerseys are sold online in support of scholarships for Latino students accessing higher education.
Brewers Community Foundation partners with Delta Dental to host an annual, one-day dental event at Miller Park facilitated by Team Smile. Over 300 boys and girls from non-profit youth-serving organizations receive a full complement of dental care. Each child receives information about oral health, plus x-rays, cleaning and services as needed. The Famous Racing Sausages also dance with the children throughout the morning as they sport their Team Smile t-shirts.
Created in the name of former Brewers President and Commissioner Emeritus of Baseball “Bud” Selig, this program awards financially-challenged Wisconsin students who show academic potential $10,000 in support over a four year period. The program, along with player and coach scholarships and the Bonan Scholarship, also offers students the chance to participate in a variety of job shadowing, internship and other learning opportunities. Twenty-two scholarships were awarded in 2016.
City Year is an education focused, non-profit organization that unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service to keep students in school and on track for graduation.
Brewers Community Foundation sponsors a City Year team at Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts.
Sojourner is the largest provider of domestic violence prevention and intervention services in Wisconsin, serving more than 9,500 clients annually. Its primary goals are to ensure the safety of victims of family violence and to provide a pathway out of violence for victims and abusers through opportunities to make positive and lasting changes for themselves and their children. Sojourner and Brewers Community Foundation are committed to creating communities where people live peacefully.
As a part of the annual Negro Leagues Tribute Game, Brewers players wear uniforms inspired by the Milwaukee Bears, the city’s 1923 Negro National League club. The game-worn jerseys are signed by the players and auctioned off online. Proceeds from the auction go to Brewers Community Foundation and are earmarked for the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City and Yesterday’s Negro League Foundation.
Every year, “An Evening With Hank Aaron” is a chance for fans and local children to meet baseball legend “Hammerin’ Hank.” The annual event features a sit-down dinner, silent auction, a student entertainer and a guest speaker. Former guests include Allan H. “Bud” Selig, Robin Yount, Bob Costas and Joe Torre. The event raises funds for Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation, which gives talented, Milwaukee-area children financial support to pursure their dreams.
AQUI (Spanish for “HERE”) is MLB’s new national marketing campaign aimed specifically at engaging Latino fans. Like “THIS,” AQUI is not your typical campaign. It will be a lens through which we will show the powerful influence Latino players have on our game, while inviting Latino fans to celebrate the intrinsic relationship between baseball and Hispanic culture. AQUI ’ seeks to create a dialogue among MLB and Latino consumers that is authentic, fun and taps into the many ways we can uniquely connect with this target audience to drive deeper engagement.
All Major League Baseball teams host ceremonies honoring veterans in their communities during games that fall on July 4th weekend and September 11. Players wear “Stars & Stripes” caps during the games, which are later auctioned off to the public on MLB.com. A portion of the proceeds goes to Welcome Back Veterans.
The Baseball Tomorrow Fund is a joint initiative. It was established in 1999 through a $10 million commitment by Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association. The initiative is designed to promote and enhance the growth of youth participation in baseball and softball by funding programs, fields and equipment purchases. Each year the Brewers host an Equipment Day to collect fan donations of new and used equipment for youth organizations in the community.
Major League Baseball and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America have established more than 100 new Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities (RBI) Leagues in numerous cities. The increased exposure for local Boys & Girls Clubs through Major League Baseball has generated print, radio and television public service advertising campaigns.
Funded by the Major League Baseball Players Association, Buses for Baseball gives inner-city youth the opportunity to attend a game and meet various Brewers players. The children are given tickets, transportation to Miller Park, food vouchers, a T-shirt and a chance to make wonderful memories.
The Commissioner’s Initiative for Kids is an annual “back to school” program that starts in August and continues through Labor Day. The program provides tickets to children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the thrill of attending a Major League baseball game. Since the program’s inception in 2004, MLB together with its 30 Clubs has given more than four million tickets to youth groups and charitable organizations.
At each home game on Father’s Day, players, managers, coaches, trainers, umpires and groundskeepers promote awareness for Prostate Cancer by wearing blue wristbands, blue ribbon uniform decals and temporary blue ribbon tattoos.
July 25 and 26 are important days in the timeline of Major League Baseball history. At all ballparks, it’s a day to honor excellence, connect generations and pay tribute to the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2016, which is being inducted in legendary Cooperstown, New York.
Jackie Robinson Day was created to honor the enduring impact of Jackie Robinson and his legacy as the first African-American player to break the Major League Baseball color barrier. Robinson played his first Major League game at Ebbets Field on April 15, 1947 as a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Each year on April 15, all Brewers players and coaches wear uniform #42 in honor of Robinson and his legacy.
The National Moment of Remembrance was created to unify all Americans in one minute of silence on Memorial Day. To make the holiday more relevant, especially for younger generations, we pause to remember those who sacrificed for our freedom. Major League Baseball participates in this moment by stopping all of the games in progress and giving fans the chance to express their gratitude and reflect on what it means to be an American.
Major League Baseball and its 30 Clubs are partners with Susan G. Komen for the Cure to go to bat against breast cancer. At each home game on Mother’s Day, players, managers, coaches, trainers, umpires and groundskeepers promote awareness for breast cancer by wearing pink wristbands, pink ribbon uniform decals and temporary pink ribbon tattoos. Several Brewers players also use pink bats in honor of the program.
Major League Baseball will champion a league-wide effort to raise pediatric cancer awareness again this year. In the United States, childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children aged 15 and under. In Canada, more than 1,500 children will be diagnosed with cancer this year. MLB, in partnership with Stand Up To Cancer, is committed to eradicating the diseases that these brave young people face every day.
Play Ball Weekend celebrates youth baseball and softball through this grass roots MLB and USA Baseball initiative. Play Ball encourages all kinds of participation in the sport - educating communities that you don’t need a formal field, uniforms or even 18 athletes to play baseball. Highlighting stickball, wiffle ball, playing catch and other short-form versions of the game, the Play Ball website, mobile app and social media portal offer a variety of resources and inspiration for young players and coaches.
Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth (PLAY) is a program of the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society to promote healthy living. This is done by teaching children and their families the importance of staying fit, being active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle to prevent childhood obesity. Each participant in the program receives a PLAY pledge card, which he or she signs along with a Brewers player, stating that he or she will remain active, make healthy decisions and avoid performance-enhancing drugs
Play Sun Smart when it comes to the sun is a public education campaign aimed at combating skin cancer. The American Academy of Dermatology, Major League Baseball and Major League Baseball Players Association team up not only to raise awareness about skin cancer, but also to offer detection and prevention tips for baseball players, team staff and fans.
The Roberto Clemente Award recognizes the player who best exemplifies sportsmanship, community involvement and an overall contribution to his team. The award was named in honor of the former Pirates outfielder, Roberto Clemente, whose spirit and goodwill will always be remembered.
Scott’s Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run is a free skills competition that provides boys and girls, ages 7-14, the opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities at Miller Park. Winners advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championship events and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game.
To enhance Roberto Clemente Day and celebrate Clemente’s enduring legacy, Major League Baseball worked with the 30 Clubs to establish SEAT 21. SEAT 21 is a designated seat in each ballpark on Roberto Clemente Day dedicated to a well-known or local hero originally from the community. Recognizing individuals who embody the humanitarian spirit of Roberto Clemente is a natural extension of the current honor bestowed upon players each year and gives MLB and the Clubs the opportunity to further extend the message of service and commitment.
In conjunction with Major League Baseball, Stand Up To Cancer raises philanthropic dollars for accelerating ground-breaking research through an unprecedented collaboration that unites the major television networks, entertainment-industry executives, celebrities and prominent leaders in cancer research and patient advocacy.
BLUE Crew Tickets is a ticket program through Major League Baseball umpires. The program offers memorable baseball experiences for children awaiting adoption and kids in youth mentoring programs. The BLUE Crew Tickets experience at Miller Park includes complimentary game tickets, an on-field meet-and-greet with photo opportunities, a game ball, a New Era Brewers baseball cap and a baseball grab bag.
In recognition of Lou Gehrig’s “Luckiest Man Alive Speech”, Major League Baseball and all 30 Clubs join together for “4-ALS,” raising awareness and support for the fight against ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).
Throughout its history, Major League Baseball has been an integral part of society, and has helped bring fans together. On this day we celebrate enduring American values of freedom, patriotism, and opportunity as we remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Major League Baseball and its 30 Clubs also join the White House in observing September 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance.
Brewers Community Foundation extends financial support and leadership to nonprofits that provide quality programming in the areas of health, education, recreation and basic needs.

The Brewers Buddies Ticket Program gives area children the chance to come out to Miller Park and cheer on their team. Last year, more than 70,000 complimentary game tickets were distributed to youth groups and community organizations through the generosity of season seat holders, players and sponsors.
Each year, Brewers Community Relations provides thousands of promotional items and autographed merchandise to assist non-profit 501(c) (3) organizations with their fundraising efforts. In our continuing efforts to “GO GREEN,” we no longer accept written letter or fax donation requests. All donation requests must be submitted online at brewers.com/donations by using our Donation Request Form at least six weeks prior to the date of your event. This deadline ensures that we can fulfill donation requests in a timely manner that is fair to all deserving organizations.
Due to the many requests we receive, our Submission Guidelines have been implemented to assist as many organizations as possible. Because we receive so many out-of-state requests and our resources are limited, we are only able to donate to schools, programs and fundraisers in the Wisconsin area.
Brewers players, coaches and front office representatives make visits to local schools, organizations and youth groups throughout the year. To request a speaker for your group function, visit our website at brewers.com/community to print out the speakers bureau request form and submit it to the Community Relations department 60 days prior to the event.
Bratwurst, Polish, Italian, Hot Dog and Chorizo make up the World Famous Klement’s Racing SausagesTM . The Sausages entertain fans of all ages while they race during every home game at Miller Park. The time-honored Brewers mascot, “Bernie Brewer,” also entertains guests young and old throughout the game from Bernie’s Dugout above the left field bleachers. In addition, Bernie’s Clubhouse is a special interactive playground designed for young Brewers fans. All of the Brewers mascots make frequent appearances at community events throughout Wisconsin.
