Forum Learnings

• A few participants, including speakers, were not able to attend the event due to COVID-19 and other ailments. While it was outside our control, we have also learned from last year that inviting more than one speaker to a session might be safer, and it has proven to be so this year.

• The Ellen Melville Centre is council-operated with no venue staff present to resolve venue-related issues. Such as; wired Ethernet access and venue access. Most issues were resolved through the help of their 24/7 hotline. While the venue was loved by many participants due to the location, we have learned that we should ask at least one staff from the venue to stick around on the event day.

• While we have received many compliments regarding the quality of our catering, we are struggling with the quantity. If we were to use the same catering company, we should consider cutting the quantity by half to avoid food waste.
