NEW FRONTIERS: Empowering Mesa’s Active Adults Through Education and Wellness
Monthly Update from Vice Mayor Heredia
New Frontiers is an organization dedicated to adults wishing to continue their discovery of knowledge, advance their learning, and enhance physical wellness. I recently attended their annual meeting and I’m excited to share what they are all about!
New Frontiers for Lifelong Learning (NFLL) is a Mesa Community College non-credit, community education program designed specifically for our active senior community. With over 225 active participants, NFLL members are not just learners but also serve as ambassadors for Mesa Community College. They actively engage in various activities that foster continuous learning and community involvement.
Program Highlights:
• Peer-Led Classes: NFLL offers a variety of peer-led classes both in person and online. These classes cover a wide range of topics, ensuring there is something for everyone.
• Social Events: Regular social events provide opportunities for members to connect, share experiences, and build lasting friendships.
• Volunteer Opportunities: Members can give back to the community through various volunteer initiatives, enriching both their lives and the lives of others.
• Physical Activities: To promote physical wellness, NFLL organizes hiking, biking, and walking groups, encouraging members to stay active and healthy.
New Frontiers for Lifelong Learning is more than just a program; it’s a community where active adults can thrive, learn, and contribute to the greater good. If you or someone you know is interested in joining this vibrant community, I encourage you to explore what NFLL has to offer. Visit their website at newfrontiers.mesacc.edu.
How to Join NFLL
The fee to join New Frontiers is a single annual fee of $80 per year, September 1 through August 31. For this fee you may attend as many classes or social events as you wish. Some classes may have fees for supplies, and social events are normally pay-your-way.
As always, if you need anything, contact my office at 480-644-3003 or email District3@MesaAZ.gov. We are here to support you and ensure you have access to all the resources our community offers.
Stay active, stay engaged, and keep learning!
Warm regards,
~Vice Mayor Heredia
