Sibling-ship DNA Test in India Sibling-ship DNA Test determines if siblings (sisters and brothers) are the biological children of the same two parents or not. The test involves the independent analysis of the genetic profile of the two alleged siblings. The DNA test was introduced to determine biological relationships in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was a valuable replacement to conventional methods like blood typing, HLA testing, and serological testing. Sibling DNA Testing offers a number of applications, including relationship identification, immigration, etc. A Sibling DNA Testing involves two types of testing: the results determining if the alleged siblings are full siblings, half-siblings, or not related at all. •

Full Sibling-ship DNA Test: A Full Sibling testing is done when the alleged siblings are sure of either one of the parents, say, the mother. But they do not know if they are sharing the same biological father or not. In such a circumstance, a Full Sibling-Ship DNA test is ideal.

Half Sibling-ship DNA Test: Unlike the Full sibling ship DNA test, in a Half sibling-ship DNA test, the alleged siblings share one common parent (either the father or the mother), but it is not sure which one of the common parents they share.

The Sibling DNA Testing calculates the Siblingship DNA Index. The alleged siblings are not related to each other if the index is less than 1.00. They are, however, biologically related if the index is greater than 1.00. A variety of DNA samples can be used for sibling DNA testing. However, a buccal swab or the blood remains the most feasible and viable DNA sample. In other cases, such as a nail, hair, etc., viability testing is required. www.dnaforensics.in
