Difference between Chrysocolla, Chrysoprase, Aquaprase and Turquoise Stone Colour, shine, gloss, rarity, durability, tradition and demand are some of the basic factors that add value to a gemstone. It is not easy anymore to get authentic gemstones as it was in historic times. Many of the gemstone mining’s have stopped the constant production, and weather conditions like the monsoon, drought or heavy rains also affect the supply of the high in demand gemstones. Despite all conditional restrictions, some of the genuine gemstones sellers are doing continuous efforts to supply authentic and quality stones to gemstone lovers. The popular gemstones which have many qualities rather than fashion and décor have some similarities with each other causing confusion to the buyers. Read below to understand the difference between Chrysocolla, Chrysoprase, Aquaprase and Turquoise Stone to choose the best one for your needs. Aquaprase: This new vibrant gem is a fresh discovery from African land. It is considered as the stone of earth and sea. It has a much higher content of chromium than its blue-green and yellow-green cousins in addition to nickel. Differentiation Between The Four- Chrysoprase, Chrysocolla, Aquaprase and Turquoise All four stones have incredible healing properties and astrological facts. These all stones are often mistaken for each other due to their colour affinity and mineral resemblances but, have many differences. For instance, –Chrysocolla and Turquoise both are copper minerals and look quite similar. But, Chrysocolla is hydrated copper silicate (Cu5Si6O. 7{H2O}) while Turquoise is a combination of hydrous copper and AlPo4 (aluminium phosphate). –A typical form of Chrysocolla is too fragile for jewellery uses until processed with chemicals. On the other hand, Turquoise is hard enough for jewellery purposes thus fewer chances of fractures while shaping, unlike Chrysocolla. –A layman field test: If the stone in your hand feels tacky or sticky after you touch it with your wet/licked finger, the possibility is, it is Chrysocolla.
