Dine

The Las Vegas restaurant landscape is one of the most exciting in the world. With so many extravagant, splurgeworthy dining experiences available in Las Vegas, it can be difficult to choose. Here are a few tried and true options for every adventurous foodie.

At The LINQ, the entertainment corridor leading from the Strip to the 550-foot skyline redefining High Roller observation wheel, you’ll find Brooklyn Bowl. It’s a concert hall with bowling lanes, multiple bars and a restaurant with a fresh take on comfort food. Catch a rock band while fueling up on classic fried chicken, French bread pizzas or oyster-topped deviled eggs. DB Brasserie at The Venetian offers a greatest hits menu from many New York restaurants and French fare with Mediterranean and American flourishes.

Carnevino at The Palazzo is Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich’s dream restaurant, a combination of rustic Italian cuisine and a top-notch steakhouse. Handmade pastas, hand-chopped Piemontese steak tartare, and roasted beets with horseradish and arugula are all dishes that help construct an amazing family-style meal. é by José Andrés remains one of Las Vegas’ best kept food secrets. It’s a limited-seating, email reservation-only, 23-course experience where futuristic and experimental techniques are applied to fresh and simple ingredients.

The unmarked hallway between Jaleo and Blue Ribbon on The Cosmopolitan’s restaurant-stacked third floor leads to The Pizzeria, a late-night hot spot for a peerless New York slice.

And though it’s not on the menu at the old school Italian hangout, Piero’s, the luxurious osso buco is everybody’s favorite.

Off the Strip, Lotus of Siam is one of the best-known Thai restaurants in the country, but regulars know to order off the Northern Thai portion at the back of the menu to experience amazingly balanced, authentic dishes hard to find elsewhere.

Acclaimed Japanese street food awaits you at Yusho at the Monte Carlo. Food Network’s Guy Fieri created the fun and flashy Guy Fieri’s Vegas Kitchen & Bar at the LINQ Hotel and Casino, an energized version of your favorite neighborhood bar with over-the-top food, including Fireball lollipop chicken wings and the infamous Bacon Mac-NCheese Burger. Just a bit further south on the Strip, Giada De Laurentiis chose the Cromwell boutique hotel as the site of her first-ever restaurant, Giada — The Restaurant, a wide-open dining room with beautiful views of the boulevard and signature touches on contemporary Italian food.

Carson Kitchen in the city’s burgeoning Downtown district, has a hip, scrumptious menu that will make it your favorite new hot spot. Indulge in fried chicken skins with smoked honey, a delicious butter burger or delectable doughnut-based bread pudding.

Twist at Mandarin Oriental is the only spot in the United States where you can sample tastebud-tingling cuisine from chef Pierre Gagnaire. The multicourse tasting menu is created fresh every season.

VISITOR GUIDE

Downtown

Downtown Las Vegas is where this city got its start

DELIGHTS

MORNING

NIGHT

Start your Downtown tour with a hearty meal, diner-style. Du-par’s at the Golden Gate Casino offers Las Vegas’ favorite pancakes. Then peek at Vegas’ beginnings with visits to the Neon Museum, where the iconic and historical signs of the past live on. If you need a caffeine fix, head to The Beat Coffeehouse, where you can grab a latte and some old school vinyl.

If you’re looking for energy, you’ve found it. Downtown is electric at night, and not just because of the Fremont Street Experience, the original drag of casinos covered with the dazzling Viva Vision LED canopy. Grab dinner at Golden Nugget’s seafood spot Chart House or dine on perfectly aged steaks at Oscar’s Steakhouse, a twist on a classic concept from former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman.

NOON

Downtown Las Vegas is where this city got its start. If you haven’t experienced Downtown, get ready for a wild ride through a diverse, culturally rich neighborhood full of fresh and old-school style.

4

Downtown is chock-full of power lunch spots. Eat where the movers and shakers do with the fierce flavors of Le Thai on Fremont Street or homey Mexican cuisine at La Comida. For more variety, check out the various pie styles served at Pizza Rock on Third Street, or stroll through the colorful Container Park, a mini-mall stacked with boutique shops and casual eateries like Pinches Tacos, Big Ern’s BBQ and wine bar Bin 702.

6

On the east side of Las Vegas Boulevard, more energy awaits. Fremont East is the hottest bar district in Las Vegas, where a new breed of party bounces between classic cocktail spots, hip saloons and multi-experience entertainment venues. All kinds of music booms at Backstage Bar & Billiards, and just across the street, DJs pump up a cool, young crowd on the rooftop bar at Commonwealth. A few steps away in the old-school

El Cortez Casino, swill a throwback Blood & Sand cocktail within the swank, but unpretentious, Parlour Bar. For a more laid-back experience, head to Downtown 3rd for drinks at Downtown Grand’s refreshing Art Bar, or cross over to the Arts District to check out the extensive beer list and creative mixology unfolding at Velveteen Rabbit. Nightlife knows no boundaries in today’s Downtown.

VISITOR GUIDE

Trips

While the Strip takes center stage, there’s a whole world of activities for those eager to venture beyond the glittering lights.

DAY

MESQUITE

GRAND CANYON

Right at the Nevada-Arizona border, Mesquite is a remote yet rewarding golf and spa oasis. With seven different golf clubs and two hotel casinos with renowned spa facilities, anyone looking for a day away from Vegas will find Mesquite to be a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of the Strip.

This bona fide natural wonder of the world is a few hours away from the Strip. Carved over millions of years by the Colorado River, the Grand Canyon offers visitors numerous ways to explore its 6,000-foot-high walls. Rent a bike and take a spin around one of the trails for a 360-degree view of the canyon, or go by mule-back for a three-hour journey from the rim to the river’s edge.

GET A RUSH Skydive Mesquite offers everything you need for the ultimate skydiving experience. From first-time jumps and skydive lessons to experienced skydivers, they do it all. Come jump at the drop zone in Nevada where real skydivers come to play.

2

BOULDER CITY

VALLEY OF FIRE

While it thrives by being just 20 miles away from Vegas, Boulder City is one of only two cities in Nevada that prohibits gambling. Stroll the downtown streets and browse locally owned shops filled with handmade, antique treasures. History buffs can duck into the Boulder City Hoover Dam Museum for an in-depth look at the astonishing landmark. Refuel at the Boulder Dam Brewing Co. with classic pub fare and fresh suds all brewed right in Boulder City.

Nevada’s oldest state park, the Valley of Fire, gets its name from the flaming color of its famous sandstone rock formations. Hiking trails not only reveal the park’s desert wildlife (think tortoises and big horn sheep), but also provide visitors with pristine examples of ancient rock art. View the petroglyphs at Mouse’s Tank and Atlatl Rock.

GET A RUSH Hop on one of Adrenaline ATV Tours’ four-wheelers and cover even more of the park’s famously scenic trails.

GET A RUSH Flightlinz Bootleg Canyon gives thrillseekers the opportunity to soar down four separate zip lines at speeds up to 60 miles per hour.

GET A RUSH Maverick Helicopters’ Wind Dancer tour offers stunning views of Lake Mead and Hoover Dam before descending into the canyon for a champagne toast, followed by a final flight over the Strip.
