TheCaliforniaAirResourcesBoardandNewHollandarepleasedtoexplaintheemissioncontrolsystemwarrantyonyour engine.InCalifornia, new1999andlaterheavy-dutyoff-roadenginesfrom25to750HPmustbedesigned,built,andequippedtomeettheState’sstringent anti-smogstandards.NewHollandmustwarranttheemissioncontrol systemonyour enginefortheperiodsoftimelistedbelow,providedthere hasbeennoabuse,neglect,orimpropermaintenanceofyourengine.

Youremissioncontrolsystemincludespartssuchasthefuelinjection systemandtheairinduction system.

Whereawarrantableconditionexists,NewHollandwillrepairyourheavy-dutyoff-roadengineatnocosttoyou,includingdiagnosis,parts,and labor.

Manufacturer’sWarrantyCoverage:

The1999andlaterheavy-dutyoff-roadenginesarewarrantedfromtheoriginaldateofdeliveryforfiveyearsor3,000hoursofoperation, whicheveroccursfirst.Ifanyemission-relatedpartonyourengineisdefective,thepartwillberepairedorreplacedbyNewHolland.

Owner’sWarrantyResponsibilities:

D Astheheavy-dutyoff-roadengineowner,youareresponsiblefortheperformanceoftherequiredmaintenancelistedinyourowner’s manual.NewHollandrecommendsthatyouretainallreceiptscoveringmaintenanceonyourheavy-dutyoff-roadengine,butNew Hollandcannotdenywarrantysolelyforthelackofreceiptsorforyourfailuretoensuretheperformanceofallscheduledmaintenance.

D Astheheavy-dutyoff-roadengineowner,youshould,however,beawarethatNewHollandmaydenyyouwarrantycoverageifyour heavy-dutyoff-roadengineoraparthasfailedduetoabuse,neglect,impropermaintenance,orunapprovedmodifications.

D Yourengineisdesignedtooperateoncommerciallyavailabledieselfuelonly.Useofanyotherfuelmayresultinyourenginenolonger operatingincompliancewithCalifornia’semissionsrequirements.

D Youareresponsibleforinitiatingthewarrantyprocess.TheARBsuggeststhatyoupresentyourheavy-dutyoff-roadenginetoaNew Hollanddealerassoonasaproblemexists.Thewarrantyrepairsshouldbecompletedbythedealerasexpeditiouslyaspossible. Ifyouhavequestionsregardingyourwarrantyrightsandresponsibilities,youshouldcontactyourBranchOfficeattheaddressandphone numberlistedontheOwnerAssistancepageofyourequipmentsoperatormanual.

D Priortotheexpirationofthewarranty,youmustgivenoticeofanyfailureofanemissioncontrolwarrantedpart.Suchnoticemustbegiven toNewHollandoranauthorizeddealer,andyoumustdelivertheenginetotherepairlocation.

D You,theowner,areresponsibleforincidentalcostsincurredbyyourselforyouremployeesasaresultofawarrantablefailure.Examples ofsuchcostsarecommunicationexpenses,mealsandlodging.

D Theownerisresponsibleforanybusinesscostsorlosses,any“downtime”expensesandany“cargo”damagewhichresultfromthe failureofawarrantedpart.NewHollandisnotresponsibleforotherincidentalorconsequentialdamages,includingbutnotlimitedtofines, theft,vandalismorcollisions.

Anyreplacementpart,equivalentinperformanceanddurability,maybeusedintheperformanceofanymaintenanceorrepairsandmustbe providedwithoutchargetotheowner.TheuseofthesepartsdoesnotreducethewarrantyobligationsofNewHolland.However,NewHolland recommendstheuseofnew,genuineNewHollandservicepartsorNewHollandapprovedrebuiltpartsandassemblies.NewHollandalso recommendsthattheenginebeservicedbyaNewHollandauthorizeddealer.

NewHollandResponsibilities

Warrantyworkwillbeprovidedatnochargetotheowneratanyauthorizeddealer,usingnewgenuineNewHollandservicepartsorNew Hollandapprovedrebuiltpartsorassemblies..

Theownerwillnotbechargedfordiagnosticlaborwhichleadstothedeterminationthatawarrantedpartisdefective,ifthediagnosticworkwas performedatawarrantystation.

NewHollandisliablefordamagestootherenginecomponentscausedbythefailureunderwarrantyofanywarrantedpart.

WarrantyLimitations

NewHollandisnotresponsibleforfailuresresultingfromabuseorneglectbyowneroroperator.

NewHollandwarrantstotheultimatepurchaserandeachsubsequentpurchaserthattheengineisdesigned,built,andequippedsoasto conformwithallapplicableregulationsadoptedbytheAirResourcesBoard,andthatitisfreefromdefectsinmaterialsandworkmanshipwhich causethefailureofawarrantedpart.

Anywarrantedpartwhichisnotscheduledforreplacementasrequiredmaintenance,orwhichisscheduledonlyforregularinspectiontothe effectof“repairorreplaceasnecessary”iswarrantedforthewarrantyperiod.

Anywarrantedpartwhichisscheduledforreplacementasrequiredmaintenanceiswarrantedfortheperiodoftimepriortothefirstscheduled replacementpointforthatpart.

NewHollandisliablefordamagestootherenginecomponentscausedbythefailureunderwarrantyofanywarrantedpart.

FEDERALEMISSIONSWARRANTY

NewHollandwarrantsthatyournew1996andlaterheavy-dutyoff-roaddieselenginewasdesigned,built,andequippedtoconformto applicableU.S.EnvironmentalProtectionAgencyregulationsforaperiodofuseoffiveyearsor3,000hoursofoperation,whicheveroccurs first.

Thenewmodelyear,classofdieselengine,andemissionapplicationdeterminationforyourengineareidentifiedontheemissioncontrol informationlabelaffixedtothetopofyourengine’srockerarmcover.Thewarrantyperiodbeginsonthedatethenewequipmentissoldtothe firstretailpurchaser.

Anyemissioncontrolsystempartswhichareprovendefectiveduringnormalusewillberepairedorreplacedduringthewarrantyperiod.The warrantyrepairsandservicewillbeperformedbyanyauthorizedNewHollanddealeratthedealer’splaceofbusiness,withnochargeforparts orlabor(includingdiagnosis).

Astheengineowner,youareresponsibletoperformalltherequiredmaintenancelistedinyourowner’smanual.NewHollandwillnotdenyan emissionwarrantyclaimsolelybecauseyouhavenorecordofmaintenance;however,aclaimmaybedeniedifyourfailuretoperform maintenanceresultedinthefailureofawarrantedpart.Receiptscoveringregularmaintenanceshouldberetainedintheeventofquestionsand thesereceiptsshouldbepassedontoeachsubsequentowneroftheengine.

ItisrecommendedreplacementpartsusedformaintenanceorrepairsbeNewHollandServicePartstomaintainthequalityoriginallydesigned intoyouremissioncertifiedengine.Theuseofnon-NewHollandpartsdoesnotinvalidatethewarrantyonothercomponentsunlesstheuseof suchpartscausesdamagetowarrantedparts.

NewHollandwishestoassuretheemissioncontrolsystemswarrantyisbeingproperlyadministered.Ifyoubelieveyouhavenotreceivedthe serviceentitledtounderthiswarranty,youshouldcontactthenearestNewHollandBranchOfficeforassistance.Theaddressandphone numberofeachBranchOfficeisinyourvehicleowner’smanual.Ifadditionalassistanceorinformationisneeded,contact:

SAFETYPRECAUTIONS

Acarefuloperatoristhebestoperator.Most accidentscanbeavoidedbyobservingcertain precautions.Tohelppreventaccidents,readand takethefollowingprecautionsbeforeoperating thistractor.Equipmentshouldbeoperatedonly bythosewhoareresponsibleandinstructedto doso.

THETRACTOR

1.ReadtheOperator’sManualcarefullybefore usingthetractor.Lackofoperating knowledgecanleadtoaccidents.

2.Useanapprovedrollbarandseatbeltfor safeoperation.Overturningatractorwithout arollbarcanresultindeathorinjury.Ifyour tractorisnotequippedwitharollbarandseat belt,seeyourNewHollandDealer.

3.Alwaysusetheseatbelt.Theonlyinstance whentheseatbeltshouldnotbeusedisifthe rollbarhasbeenremovedfromthetractor.

4.Ifafrontendloaderistobeinstalled,always useaFOPS(FallingObjectProtective Structure)canopytoavoidinjuryfromfalling objects.

5.Usethehandholdsandstepplateswhen gettingonandoffthetractortopreventfalls. Keepstepsandplatformclearedofmudand debris.

6.Donotpermitanyonebuttheoperatortoride onthetractor.Thereisnosafeplaceforextra riders.

7.Keepallsafetydecalscleanofdirtandgrime, andreplaceallmissing,illegible,ordamaged safetydecals.Seethelistofdecalsinthe Decalsectionofthismanual.

SERVICINGTHETRACTOR

1.Thecoolingsystemoperatesunderpressure whichiscontrolledbytheradiatorcap.Itis dangeroustoremovethecapwhilethe systemishot.Alwaysturnthecapslowlyto thefirststopandallowpressuretoescape beforeremovingthecapentirely.

2.Keepanytypeofopenflameawayfromthe tractoranddonotsmokewhilerefueling. Waitfortheenginetocoolbeforerefueling.

3.Keepthetractorandequipment,particularly brakesandsteering,maintainedinareliable andsatisfactoryconditiontoensureyour safetyandcomplywithlegalrequirements.

4.Keepopenflameorcoldweatherstarting aidsawayfromthebatterytopreventfiresor explosions.Usejumpercablesaccordingto instructionstopreventsparkswhichcould causeexplosion.

5.Stoptheenginebeforeperformingany serviceonthetractor.

6.Escapinghydraulic/dieselfluidunder pressurecanpenetratetheskincausing seriousinjury.Iffluidisinjectedintotheskin, obtainmedicalattentionimmediatelyor gangrenemayresult.

• DONOTuseyourhandtocheckforleaks. Useapieceofcardboardorpaperto searchforleaks.

• Stoptheengineandrelievepressure beforeconnectingordisconnectinglines.

• Tightenallconnectionsbeforestartingthe engineorpressurizinglines.

7.Donotmodifyorpermitanyoneelseto modifyoralterthistractororanyofits componentsorfunctionswithoutfirst consultingaNewHollandDealer.

8.Thefueloilintheinjectionsystemisunder highpressureandcanpenetratetheskin. Unqualifiedpersonsshouldnotremoveor attempttoadjustapump,injector,nozzle,or anyotherpartofthefuelinjectionsystem. Failuretofollowtheseinstructionscanresult inseriousinjury.

9.Continuouslong-termcontactwithused engineoilmaycauseskincancer.Avoid prolongedcontactwithusedengineoil. Washskinpromptlywithsoapandwater.

10.Somecomponentsofyourtractor,suchas gasketsandfrictionsurfaces(brakelinings, clutchlinings,etc.)maycontainasbestos. Breathingasbestosdustisdangerousto yourhealth.Youareadvisedtohaveany maintenanceorrepaironsuchcomponents carriedoutbyanauthorizedNewHolland

Dealer.However,ifserviceoperationsareto beundertakenonpartsthatcontain asbestos,theessentialprecautionslisted belowmustbeobserved:

• Workoutofdoorsorinawellventilated area.

• Dustfoundonthetractororproduced duringworkonthetractorshouldbe removedbyextraction,notbyblowing.

• Dustwasteshouldbedampened,placed inasealedcontainer,andmarkedto ensuresafedisposal.

• Ifanycutting,drilling,etc.isattemptedon materialscontainingasbestos,theitem shouldbedampenedandonlyhandtools orlowspeedpowertoolsused.

OPERATINGTHETRACTOR

1.Beforestartingthetractor,applytheparking brake,placethePTOleverinthe“OFF” position,theliftcontrolleverinthedown position,theremotecontrolvalveleversin theneutralposition,andthetransmissionin neutral.

2.Alwayssitinthetractorseatwhenstarting theengineoroperatingcontrols.Donotstart theengineoroperatecontrolswhilestanding besidethetractor.

3.Donotbypasstheneutralstartswitches. ConsultyourNewHollandDealerifyour neutralstartcontrolsmalfunction.Use jumpercablesonlyintherecommended manner.Improperusecanresultintractor runaway.

4.Avoidaccidentalcontactwiththegearshift leverwhiletheengineisrunning,asthiscan causeunexpectedtractormovement.

5.Beforegettingoffthetractor,disengagethe PTO,turntheengineoff,andapplythe parkingbrake.Nevergetoffthetractorwhile itisinmotion.

6.Donotparkthetractoronasteepincline.

7.Donotoperatethetractorengineinan enclosedbuildingwithoutadequate ventilation.Exhaustfumescancausedeath orillness.

8.Ifthepowersteeringorengineceases operating,stopthetractorimmediately.

9.Pullonlyfromthedrawbarorthelowerlink drawbarinthedownposition.Useonlya drawbarpinthatlocksinplace.Pullingfrom thetractorrearaxleoranypointabovethe axlemaycausethetractortoupset.

10.Ifthefrontendofthetractortendstorise whenheavyimplementsareattachedtothe three-pointhitch,installfrontendorfront wheelweights.Donotoperatethetractor withalightfrontend.

11.Alwayssetthehydraulicselectorleverin positioncontrolwhenattachingor transportingequipment.Ensurehydraulic couplersareproperlymountedandwill disconnectsafelyincaseofaccidental detachmentofimplement.

12.Donotleaveequipmentintheraised position.

13.Usetheflasher/turnsignallightsandSMV signswhentravelingonpublicroadsboth dayandnight(unlessprohibitedbylaw).

14.Whenoperatingatnight,adjustlightsto preventblindingoncomingdrivers.

DRIVINGTHETRACTOR

1.Watchwhereyouaregoing,especiallyatrow ends,onroads,aroundtreesandlow hangingobstacles.

2.Toavoidupsets,drivethetractorwithcare andatasafespeed.Useextracautionwhen operatingoverroughground,whencrossing ditchesorslopes,andwhenturningcorners.

3.Toprovidetwo-wheelbraking,locktractor brakepedalstogetherwhentransportingon roads.

4.Donotcoastorfreewheeldownhills.Usethe samegearwhengoingdownhillasisused whengoinguphill.

5.Anytowedvehiclewithatotalweight exceedingthatofthetowingtractorshould beequippedwithbrakesforsafeoperation.

6.Ifthetractorbecomesstuckorthetires becomefrozentotheground,backupthe tractortopreventupset.

7.Alwayscheckoverheadclearance, especiallywhentransportingthetractor.

8.Whenoperatingatnight,adjustlightsto preventblindingoncomingdrivers.

OPERATINGTHEPTO

1.WhenoperatingPTOdrivenequipment,shut offtheengineandwaituntilthePTOstops beforegettingoffthetractorand disconnectingtheequipment.

2.Donotwearlooseclothingwhenoperating thepowertake-offorwhennearrotating equipment.

3.WhenoperatingstationaryPTOdriven equipment,alwaysplacebothgearshift leversinneutral,applythetractorparking brake,andblocktherearwheelsfrontand back.

4.Toavoidinjury,donotclean,adjust,unclog, orservicePTOdrivenequipmentwhenthe tractorengineisrunning.

5.EnsurethePTOmastershieldisinstalledat alltimes.AlwaysreplacethePTOshieldcap whenthePTOisnotinuse.

DIESELFUEL

1.UNDERNOCIRCUMSTANCESshould gasoline,alcohol,orblendedfuelsbeadded todieselfuel.Thesecombinationscan createanincreasedfireorexplosivehazard. Suchblendsaremoreexplosivethanpure gasolineinaclosedcontainersuchasafuel tank.DONOTUSETHESEBLENDS.

2.Neverremovethefuelcaporrefuelwiththe enginerunningorhot.

3.Donotsmokewhilerefuelingorwhen standingnearfuel.

4.Maintaincontrolofthefuelfillerpipenozzle whenfillingthetank.

5.Donotfillthefueltanktocapacity.Allowroom forexpansion.

6.Wipeupspilledfuelimmediately.

7.Alwaystightenthefueltankcapsecurely.

8.Iftheoriginalfueltankcapislost,replaceit withaNewHollandapprovedcap.A non-approved,proprietarycapmaynotbe safe.

9.Keepequipmentcleanandproperly maintained.

10.Donotdriveequipmentnearopenfires.

11.Neverusefuelforcleaningpurposes.

12.Arrangefuelpurchasessothatwintergrade fuelsarenotheldoverandusedinthespring.

SAFETYFRAME(ROPS)

YourNewHollandtractorisequippedwitha safetyframe.Itmustbemaintainedina serviceablecondition.Becarefulwhendriving throughdoorwaysorworkinginconfinedspaces withlowheadroom.

UNDERNOCIRCUMSTANCESshouldyou:

• modify,drill,oralterthesafetyframeinany way.Doingsomayrenderyouliabletolegal prosecution.

• attempttostraightenorweldanypartofthe mainframeorretainingbracketswhichhave suffereddamage.Doingsomayweakenthe structureandendangeryoursafety.

• secureanypartsonthemainframeorattach yoursafetyframewithanythingotherthan thespecialhightensileboltsandnuts specified.

• attachchainsorropestothemainframefor pullingpurposes.

• takeunnecessaryriskseventhoughyour safetyframeaffordsyouthemaximum protectionpossible.

SEAT,SEATBELT,ANDROLLOVER PROTECTIVESTRUCTURE(ROPS)

AdjustingtheTractorSeat

YourNewHollandtractorisequippedwithan adjustablesuspensionseat.Theseatcanbe placedinoneofseveralpositions.

Tomovetheseatforeandaft,raiseandrotatethe releaselever,1,counterclockwisewhilesittingin theseat.Becausetheseatisonaninclinedbase, moreeffortisrequiredtomovetheseatrearward thanforward.

AdjustingtheSeatBelt

Tolengthentheseatbelt,tipthebuckleenddown andpullonthebuckleuntiltheendscanbe joined.Toshortenthebelt,buckleit,thenpullon thelooseenduntilthebeltissnug.

Usesoapandwatertocleantheseatbeltif necessary.Donotusecarbontetrachloride, naphtha,etc.,asthesesubstanceswillweaken thewebbing.Additionally,donotbleachorredye thewebbing,astheseproductswillalsoweaken thewebbing.

Replacetheseatbeltifitbecomesdamagedor worn.

RolloverProtectiveStructure(ROPS)

ARolloverProtectiveStructure(ROPS)andseat beltsarestandardequipmentonthistractorat thetimeoffactoryassembly.IftheROPSwas deletedbytheoriginalpurchaserorhasbeen removed,itisrecommendedthatyouequipyour tractorwithaROPSandseatbelts.

ROPSareeffectiveinreducinginjuriesinthe eventoftractoroverturn.Overturningatractor withoutaROPSinstalledcanresultinserious injuryordeath.TheRolloverProtectiveStructure andseatbeltsareavailablefromyourNew HollandDealer.

Additionally,thesafetyofferedbytheROPSand seatbeltisminimizedifyourseatbeltisnot buckled.Alwaysuseyourseatbelt:itcansave yourlife.
