The University of Western Australia (UWA) is a public research university located in Perth, Western Australia. Founded in 1911, UWA is the oldest and highest-ranked university in Western Australia. It is a member of the Group of Eight, Australia’s eight leading researchintensive universities.

UWA offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across a broad range of disciplines, including arts, science, engineering, medicine, law, business, and education. Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts

For over 40 years, the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) at Edith Cowan University has delivered internationally renowned performing arts training in acting, dance, music, music theatre, performance making, production and design, and arts and cultural management. WAAPA provides the most comprehensive range of performing arts training in Australia and their world-class staff provide rigorous and specialised training of the highest order. WAAPA graduates excel in their chosen professions around the world, confirming the Academy’s well-earned reputation. Many well-known actors, dancers, musicians and music theatre stars including Hugh Jackman, Frances O’Connor, Dacre Montgomery, Eddie Perfect and Tim Minchin, have called WAAPA home.

Every year, WAAPA presents over 300 public performances – more productions and diversity than any other arts training institution in Australia. Our dedicated lecturers enable students to hone their skills, master their chosen discipline and prepare them to meet the ever-changing demands of a performing arts career in a competitive global marketplace.

In 2026, WAAPA will move to ECU City, an exciting development that will transform the city of Perth. The new campus will form a world-class Creative Industries, Business and Technology Precinct and feature cutting-edge performance and teaching spaces, delivering an immersive and connected student experience.
