Murdoch University

Environmental Engineering at Murdoch University has developed Colliecrete – a low carbon emission concrete alternative to high carbon Portland cement. Murdoch University is working with Western Australian companies Suvo Strategic Minerals and Sipod Global to establish a geopolymer wall panel factory in Collie followed by another factory in Lombok. These factories will use locally available industrial waste-derived materials including flyash from coal-fired power stations.

This initiative will support the energy transition and closure of coal-fired power stations in Western Australia by 2030 and in Indonesia by 2060 by creating new jobs for displaced workers in new industries for the manufacture of low carbon building materials. Murdoch University is a translational research university that works directly with communities and industry towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals and to support the global energy transition.
