AS AI CONTINUES TO EVOLVE IT PROGRESSES THROUGH DIFFERENT STAGES, EACH REPRESENTING A SIGNIFICANT MILESTONE IN ITS DEVELOPMENT.
The first stage of AI involves task specific machines which can only respond to specific predefined inputs. These systems operations based on preset rules and patterns without any memory or ability to learn from historical data.
In the second stage AI systems develop a Small memory capacity that enables them to store some historical data. Ultimately these systems decision making capabilities gets improved by using past information or experiences.
The third stage of AI involves the development of systems that possess mind reading capabilities which refers to the ability to understand and infer the mental states of others.
At the fourth stage AI develops to the point of self acknowledgement enabling machines to be conscious about their own existence and understand their strengths and weaknesses.
The ultimate goal of AI development is to reach the fifth and final stage General Intelligence or Artificial General Intelligence. AGI refers to AI systems that possess human level intelligence across diverse tasks, exhibiting flexibility, creativity, and the ability to learn and reason across multiple levels.
Each stage of the evolution of AI from task specific robots through the goal of General Intelligence constitutes a crucial turning point. Even though we have made significant progress obtaining AGI and building robots that perform a variety of jobs with human like intelligence remain difficult and ongoing challenges.
