THE BREIF

Convention Centre is a group of buildings designed for the purpose of conducting meetings, rallies, seminars, exhibitions, conferences, etc. It can also be adapted for specific events, such as appearances by well-known speakers or concerts. It is proposed in Hinjewadi, Pune, to benefit from these uses.

“Eventropolis” - a word that combines “event” and “metropolis”. It can be used to describe a large complex or center designed to host a variety of events, such as conventions, conferences, and trade shows.

The site of the Eventropolis play a key role in its design. Factors such as location, accessibility, and surrounding infrastructure should be considered. Site is located in Hingewadi, pune. It is home to a huge chunk of Global Technology Companies and Start-Ups within the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, a large IT and business park spread over 2,800 acres which was built by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.

CONCEPT

A convention center with a space frame involves creating a large open space that can accommodate a variety of events and activities, while also providing structural support using a space frame system. A space frame is a three-dimensional structural system that consists of a grid of interconnected nodes and struts, allowing for the creation of large open spaces without the need for internal columns or supports.

We worked as a team of 12 for the ‘ Documentation of Krishnabai Temple at Kshetra Mahabaleshwar’ which was selected for national jury of ‘ Student Award for Excellence in Documentation of Architectural Heritage 2022’ organised by COA and secured 2nd place in the same.

The external columns are carved with floral motifs. there are types of arches one between internal columns, one between external columns and the third between an internal and external column Niches (Dewli) are present on the internal walls of the corridor and the garbagriha. They are used to keep lamps (diva) or lanterns as well as things Niches Antarala (in Sanskrit, lit. means intermediate space) small antechamber or foyer between the garbhagriha (shrine) and the mandapa Antarala The temple consists of five essential parts that include the Garbagriha where the idol of deity kept. Antrala where the door of Garbagriha opens. The garbagriha small and a dark place. needs no light as it houses ‘light’ itself in the form of deity or symbol.
