Lieutenant Governor's Greeting Hi Division 23! I hope everyone is having a great summer so far! Key Club International's Summer Leadership Training Conference was this weekend and I hope you had some fun and also learned more about Key Club. The June Monthly Report Form (MRF) is due today July 10th by 11:59pm.

Service does not stop in the summer so make sure to do some service. One great way is by joining the division Charity Miles group (NYDKCD23). The Empire Key Opportunities & Editors Choice Award Editors Choice Award: Being an editor is not just about writing and designing. It is also about thinking out of the box.

The Editor’s Choice Award is given to key club members who have dedicated themselves to volunteering and writing about such captivating events. Any key clubber can submit an article and club editors are highly encouraged to participate as well.

If selected, the awardee will get a certificate and a personal note from the Bulletin Editor and their photo will be posted on the NYDKC Instagram.

All you have to do to apply is write a 200-400 word article on a service event that you were a part of. You can also submit a few images of the event as well. The last day to send in articles is July 28th by 11:59 Submit an article HERE Empire Key Opportunities: Would you like to submit a service article to be featured in the second issue of the Empire Key? Just write the article and submit it to the link above by July 28th at 11:59 PM

Service Spotlight As the end of this strange school year approached, Brighton Key Club ended the year with making tons of dog toys out of tshirts to donate to shelters around the Rochester area. For about a week, Key Clubbers collected used and worn out tshirts from their home and brought them into school, where all the t-shirts were piling up. After collecting many t-shirts, Brighton students met after school making dog toys outside in the Alumni Courtyard. Many of the students had never made dog toys before, so it was a journey for many of them to learn the steps to make them. Not only did many students have a fun time learning how to make dog toys and competing with each other to see who can make the most, it was a great way to wrap up this year of service! After everyone completed making them, it was wonderful to be able to see the final product and all the wonderful, colorful dog toys that will be enjoyed.

District Endorsed Projects Kiwanis Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation: Founded in 2000 by Kiwanis Gov. John Gridley, the Kiwanis Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation was Established to assist families in paying medical bills related to treatment for the disease and to raise awareness of Pediatric Lyme Disease and its prevention. By 2014, the foundation was able to raise over $270,000

District Service Hour Goal & Fundraising Goal

Fundraising Goal: $150,000!

Amount Raised so far: over $16,336.21 or about 10.89%

Service Hour Goal: 100,000 hours Hours so far: 31,848 hours or 32%

International Endorsed Project

Up With People Up with People (UWP) is a nonprofit organization that uses a fivemonth program involving travel, the performing arts, volunteering, and various workshops focusing on intercultural communication to teach young adults how to interact in a multicultural environment and create change in communities with varying needs.

Service In the Summer Service does not stop in the summer so its a great idea to hold some events. Even quick virtual events are service too! The next page will talk about some service ideas that are virtual and in person.

Service Ideas IN PERSON: Non-slip Socks: As a club, buy some socks and paint them with puffy paint.They help patients from slipping on hospital floors Owens Home and Rochester General Hospital accept these socks PARK/CAMPUS CLEAN UP: Gather materials such as trash bags and gloves and clean up parks and or school campuses Make Dog Toys: Gather old T shirts and cut them up to make dog toys. There are many videos on how to make them.

VIRTUAL: FREE RICE APP An app where you can answer trivia to earn rice for the World Food Program Bean,Bean, Bean: Website where you answer trivia questions to earn money for food banks Be My Eyes: App where volunteers help those with limited sight through live video call

Division 23 Charity Miles Division 23 Charity Miles is back! It was so amazing last year and we can do it again. The highest amount of miles contributed by a member last year was 240 miles.

What is Charity Miles?

Charity Miles is an app that is sponsored by various businesses and companies who donate money to charities based off how many miles people bike, walk, or run.

Steps to Join the Division 23 Charity miles group: Download Charity Miles Select March of Dimes as your Charity Go to groups Search and join the group NYDKCD23 Yay your all set. As you do more and more miles, you will climb the division leaderboard.

The June MRF is due Today July 10th by 11:59 pm!

Monthly Report Form (MRF): The MRF'S are filled by the Secretaries and they are important because it lets the district know of what we are doing and also to keep track of our hours. Submit here.

Election Report Form (ERF): As clubs are starting to hold elections, presidents please make sure to fill out the election report form to update officer position holdings as soon as possible after elections. Submit the form here Fundraising Report Form (FRF): The FRF is a form filled by the treasurer within 2 days after a club holds a fundraiser. This form helps the district keep track of fundraising and to see where we stand on the fundraising goal. Fill out the form here.
