Message

Hello Hippos! My name is Ryan Lieng and I am extremely honored to serve as your Lieutenant Governor for the 2018-2019 term! As your Lieutenant Governor I strive to include getting more Key Clubbers involved, promote spirit, and constituting an Ohana environment within Division 21 through leadership, character building, caring, and inclusiveness. I believe as one big Ohana, we can accomplish more efficiently and effectively as a whole. Furthering as an Ohana, I hope to strengthen the bonds between Key Clubbers, clubs, and the other branches of the Kiwanis Family. In addition, I want to further emphasize the importance of community service in Key Club and raise awareness on our preferred charities. I also want to strictly highlight the importance of members through meaningful recognition. Join me on this journey as we venture to new heights and make this the best year Division 21 has ever seen!Â

SERVICE SPOTLIGHT

DCON 2018

A celebration of the past term! April 13-15 @ Grand Sierra Resort

“District Convention 2018 was a weekend concluding in everlasting friendships. Although a 14 hour car ride from San Diego, California to Reno, Nevada was a once-in-a-lifetime, and amazing experience, the destination was far more magical. Through all the tears at the end of the Convention and all the bittersweet goodbyes, I took the time to appreciate the blossoming friendships made through attending workshops, governors ball, and participating in friendly spirit battles. Between the workshops, laughs, and watching my division’s LTG take his place on stage, representing us, I felt at home. Key Club has definitely impacted my life greatly and District Convention not only inspires me to pursue greater things, it reminds me about the amazing work that we not only do as a division or a region, but as a district. I cannot wait to see what District Convention 2019 has to offer and I hope every Key Clubber has the chance to attend DCON at least once in their Key Club career. - Hafsah Alzamari Patrick Henry DCON “CNH Key Club DCON 2018 is one of the best Key club events I have experienced since the beginning of my Key Club journey. For those past 3 days, I made new friendships, shared laughters, gave warm, big hugs but I also reunited with old friends that made me shed tears and my heart throbbed when we had to part our ways. Ever since middle school, I always dreamed to meet AJ Rafael and that day finally made my dreams came true. If I can go back in time, I wish the days were longer so that I wouldn't miss the moments that went by at the tip of my fingers. At the end of DCON, I became truly inspired and motivated by all the words of the governors of Kfamily so until then, I hope to see everyone next year at DCON 2019! - Sydney Dao, Hoover

My first DCON this past weekend was definitely an unforgettable experience. Being able to come together with so many different clubs across the CNH district and celebrate our accomplishments was truly inspiring for all members alike. Seeing first hand, the dedication of certain individuals such as our now retired district governor Angelica Garcia and meeting plenty of other members from various position, I've been lucky enough come across people who have made huge differences in the world through Key Club. They're stories have genuinely touched me and has helped me to realize that while though I might not be able to reach the same level of their achievements, there will always be something I can be done to help serve those around us. I hope to build upon the lessons I learned that weekend and show the same spirit I was shown to others so that they may also be inspired to serve their communities to the fullest extent. I'll never forget the memories I made for many years to come and I can't wait to see what the new term will have to offer. - Ethan Phung, Serra

Hot Chocolate Run Hot Chocolate Run, one of the most popular runs throughout the year, was, like always, really fun. At the run, I was a supplier while others were chocolate pourers. In addition to the fun work, we got free sweaters. - Calvin Ha, Serra

March DCM The last DCM was great because we made care packages with resources for the homeless. I think this DCM specifically embodied what key club is really about, and I’m glad I got to participate in it. - Nathan Tran, Serra

Kiwanis Takeover

Kiwanis takeover was an awesome start to our morning as we got to spend time with amazing Kiwanis members! We started the day with singing and that was pretty fun since we sang Old Mcdonald about 4 times hahaha. We played hilarious games that involved hip and current slang of our generation that the members had to decipher. From Bill dancing hilariously and the great breakfast we had, the Kiwanis takeover was a magnificent experience that raised money for our club! -Brandon Huynh, Patrick Henry

Kiwanis One Day No event is more enjoyable than Kiwanis One Day. I am always overjoyed at the progress we make as a community. It was an overwhelming experience to see all the branches and twigs piled up after all our hard work. This event is also amazing because of all the people you get to work with; not only are there Key Club members, but there are also Kiwanis members and even Circle K members that worked alongside us. Overall, Kiwanis One Day is a great event that I would recommend all Key Club members to attend! - Charlene Raspur, Serra

That's it for this month's service spotlight!

THANK YOU

for your work!
