At Ditcham Park School, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our rich and varied extra-curricular programme gives every pupil the opportunity to discover new passions, develop talents, and build lifelong skills. From creative arts and performing opportunities to sporting challenges, outdoor adventures, and academic clubs, pupils are encouraged to explore, collaborate, and flourish.
These experiences nurture confidence, resilience, and teamwork, helping pupils to grow as individuals while strengthening our vibrant school community. Whether trying something new or excelling in a favourite pursuit, every child is supported to make the most of the opportunities on offer.
We are always delighted to receive feedback and suggestions from pupils and parents, as this helps us continue to shape a programme that is engaging, inclusive, and inspiring for all.
If you have any questions, or feedback, please contact Mr Ellis (chris.ellis@ditchampark.com)
Our school’s extracurricular programme is designed to enrich the learning experience beyond the classroom, offering every pupil the opportunity to discover new interests, develop valuable skills, and build confidence. Engaging in activities outside the regular curriculum plays an important role in supporting students’ personal growth, fostering teamwork, encouraging creativity, and promoting overall wellbeing. By taking part, pupils can explore their passions, make new friends, and become more active members of the school community.
To ensure that every child can find something meaningful to participate in, our programme provides a wide variety of opportunities throughout the school day during breaktimes, lunchtimes, and in Period 6 at the end of the day. These activities are organised into four main groups:
External Provider Activities These sessions are delivered by qualified external specialists. They are paid activities and require advance sign-up. They offer high-quality coaching and tuition in specialist areas.
Period 6 Activities Held daily at 15:00, Period 6 offers structured sessions aimed at developing pupils’ skills, knowledge, and personal interests. At the beginning of each term, students select their preferred activities through a preference-based system, allowing them to commit to an area they are excited to explore further.
Breaktime and Lunchtime Clubs These informal, drop-in clubs allow pupils to join freely without signing up. They provide a relaxed environment where students can try out different activities, socialise, and unwind during the school day.
Music Ensembles Pupils who play a musical instrument or enjoy singing are encouraged to join our ensembles. These groups give students the chance to rehearse together, develop their musical ability, and participate in school performances.

By the end of the course, each student will have a body of work that showcases their skills and personal artistic journey.

By the end of the award, pupils will have achieved a meaningful qualification that recognises their commitment, determination, and personal development. This activity gives pupils the opportunity to work towards their challenges.

Through discussions, activities, and practical tasks, students explore topics such as relationships, mental health, safety, financial awareness, and personal development. These sessions aim to empower pupils, promote positive choices, and support their growth as responsible, resilient, and caring members of the school and wider community.

Squad training for rugby and hockey gives pupils the chance to develop their skills, fitness, and tactical understanding in a team environment. Sessions focus on technique, teamwork, and match preparation, helping players improve their performance and confidence on the field. Pupils also learn sportsmanship, resilience, and leadership while preparing for competitive fixtures and representing the school.
Year Group Activity
Year Group Activities provide pupils with the opportunity to come together as a year cohort to take part in engaging and collaborative challenges. These activities promote teamwork, communication, and a sense of community while allowing students to have fun, build friendships, and develop important social and leadership skills. Each session is designed to be inclusive, enjoyable, and memorable for everyone involved.
Music Ensembles
Music Ensembles
Our school’s music ensembles provide a wonderful opportunity for pupils to develop their musical talents in a supportive and collaborative environment. These groups meet during Period 6, giving students dedicated time to rehearse, perform, and refine their skills alongside fellow musicians. Whether playing an instrument or singing, pupils can join an ensemble at any time, exploring a wide range of music and gaining the confidence that comes from performing together. Participation not only enhances musical ability but also fosters teamwork, creativity, and a sense of belonging, helping every student shine both on stage and beyond the classroom. If your child is interested in signing up to one of these fantastic ensembles then they should speak to Mr Williamson.
