Hotel opening put on hold DALEEN FOUCHÉ

Construction on the much anticipated multi-million rand Krystal Beach Hotel has ground to a halt. The hotel, formerly known as Villa Via, was scheduled to open this month. But scaffolding for painters treating the facade of the building bears silent witness that there is still work to be done. Work at the site has been at a standstill for more than two weeks. Gordon’s Bay business and tourism communities are eagerly anticipating the opening of the hotel. DistrictMail previously reported the seaside village expects visitor numbers to substantially increase once the hotel opens for business. Salvatore Puglia, a representative of the Cameroonian hotel owner in South Africa, this week assured DistrictMail construction on the Krystal Beach Hotel at Harbour Island will continue shortly. He says construction on the hotel was halted as a result of negotiations between the owner and contractors on the cost of certain renovations and extensions which were not part of the original plan. “When purchasing and renovating a home, there will always be some additional work that was not originally factored in. This has also been the case with the hotel,” Puglia says. He is confident negotiations will conclude by the end of the week, after which construction work will continue. “We expect the hotel to be completed by 1 June.” Renovations on the 121-room ho-

tel include an exterior and interior facelift, conference facilities and two restaurants – one for fine dining and one with a Cape Malay theme. Puglia says it is intended to be a four-star hotel which could easily be boosted to a five-star hotel. It will be the first in an international group of hotels, he adds. He says the owner, Samuel Foyou, is also looking at the possibility of purchasing more property and taking on more projects in Gordon’s Bay, as he sees the town as a “great investment opportunity”. Foyou, who made his fortune in trade in Angola and Congo, has been involved in the manufacturing of plastic bags, boxes and matches, as well as producing spirits for large brands in the alcoholic-beverage industry. He also recently became involved in the cosmetics industry. Gordon’s Bay Business Forum chairperson Danie Miller welcomed the news that renovations on the hotel will continue, adding that there had been skepticism about the original opening date. “We realised the original opening date was perhaps a bit optimistic,” he says. Foyou has bought all but six of the units in the hotel which was originally a sectional title scheme. Puglia says the six owners did not wish to sell their units and a litigation process on appropriate levies is currently underway. Once the hotel has been completed, Puglia explains, an arbitration process will follow to determine which services constitute a luxury and which are needed for maintenance to determine an appropriate levy for the remaining owners.

GB teen robbed at knifepoint DALEEN FOUCHÉ A R10 000 cash reward is being offered for anyone with information which could bring a knife-wielding assailant to book. About midnight on Thursday 9 April, 18year-old Andrew Kofahl was leaving Bertie’s to return to his home at Harbour Island after an evening with friends. Andrew did a last check for friends around the corner, next to the sailing club, when he was approached by a young man wearing a hoodie. The suspect, allegedly carrying a big kitchen knife, demanded his cellphone and wallet. Andrew says he handed over the two items, but the assailant also demanded his car keys. “I managed to persuade him that my car keys would do him no good, as my car was still parked in the Harbour Island security complex,” he explains. The assailant then instructed Andrew to

Die man is kort daarna in Sir Lowryweg vasgetrek.

Gemengde gevoelens oor vonnis DELIAH BRINKHUIS

THE ULTIMATE UPGRADE

Talle lêers was in bokse gestapel.

New digs for victim support centre Strand Police Station’s Victim Support Centre will re-open on Saturday. The centre is run from a wendy house at the station and serves clients from as far as Grabouw and Eerste River. It is run by trained volunteer counsellors – managed by a warrant Officer in charge of Community Policing – and manned around the clock on weekdays and weekends. The volunteers provide a service to victims of violence, women and child abuse, rape victims, minors with behavioural problems, drug-related issues and also counselling for pupils with attendance be-

haviour, drug, disciplinary and authority issues, referred to the centre by schools. The need to build an extra structure with more than one counselling room, to provide privacy during counselling sessions and to deal with more than one client at a time, was identified. Strand Rotary Club, which has been supporting community projects in the Helderberg for more than 60 years, supports the centre by supplying care packages to victims. The addition of an extra room to the centre has been made possible thanks to the support from Claremont Rotary Club.

No end to N2 ‘hell run’ attacks DELIAH BRINKHUIS

Authorities have issued yet another alert to motorists using the notorious N2 “hell run”. This follows the assault and robbery of a woman on the stretch of highway between Somerset West and Cape Town on Sunday evening. Mayoral Committee member for Safety and Security JP Smith says the suspects took advantage of misty conditions, assaulting and robbing the woman of her handbag and cellphone. “I appeal to motorists to please be extra careful when driving [on the N2] at night,” he implores. Two traffic officers, on their way home just before midnight, were driving towards Somerset West when they noticed a Toyota Tazz with flickering hazard lights close to the R300 off-ramp. They noticed three men were running to-

wards the car. As the officers approached, they heard screams. The three suspects, however, fled when they noticed the officers. The woman told the officers she was assaulted and robbed after she was forced to stop and change a flat tyre. The officers changed the tyre and the woman left the scene, declining any medical assistance. Smith says three more cars with flat tyres were found further along the road. The officers assisted the motorists and removed concrete blocks from the road, which they suspect had been placed there by the attackers. Since January, the stretch of road has become increasingly dangerous, as several motorists have been attacked. DistrictMail has extensively reported on incidents where objects were placed in the road to force motorists to stop. They were then robbed of their personal items. Several smash and grab incidents have also occurred. On 7 January Macassar resident Julius Jantjies (28,) was hit in the face by a concrete

block that was hurled through the windscreen of the car he was driving. The attack happened at 13:00 just before the R300 turn-off. Jantjies remained in an induced coma in Vincent Pallotti Hospital for a week. He was discharged from hospital on Friday 27 March. The attack has left him without sight in his right eye. International rugby referee Shaun Veldsman was stabbed on the N2/Baden Powell offramp on 21 February. He was on his way home after officiating in a SuperRugby match at Newlands, when his vehicle’s driver side window was smashed with a brick. Veldsman managed to escape through the passenger door as his attacker climbed in the driver’s seat while lunging at him with a sharp object, stabbing him in the back. “It is evident that criminals will continue targeting motorists for as long as they think they can get away with it. Several meetings have been held about safety on the N2,” Smith concludes.

In another shooting incident in Solly Arendse Street the following day, a 26-year-old man sustained several gunshot wounds, when three men opened fire on him. He was shot in the left leg and torso. Two men, aged 19 and 23, were arrested for attempted murder.

CHEMÉ VAN ZYL, a Grade 12 pupil at the school, is of the opinion that the school’s identity will be lost should a name change take place, and that the rebranding of the build ings and uniforms is going to cost everyone unneces sary money.

BRANDON SCHUTTLER is a Grade 8 pupil at Hot tentotsHolland High School and totally disa grees with the proposed name change for the school. “There are so many things from the apartheid era that still play a part in the present, but that doesn’t mean the names of those things are going to be changed. This situation is the same as the statue craze – it just doesn’t make sense to change names or remove things.”

MELISSA VISSER believes the school’s name should not change as it is a well known school. She would also like to know what new name could possibly be given to this school which has been a part of the community for 85 years.

Find DistrictMail on Netwerk24 A new era awaits DistrictMail’s website. Effective from Friday 1 May, the website will form part of Netwerk24. Launched last August, Netwerk24 is the leading paid platform for Media24’s Afrikaans daily and Sunday newspapers. The site quickly established itself as a market leader and will now also grow with the inclusion of content from the group’s Afrikaans local newspapers across the country. Readers will still find DistrictMail’s content – including the English news – in one place when they enter www.districtmail.com. This address will take them to a section of Netwerk24 where DistrictMail content will be neatly packaged and published. The content will be behind a paywall for which readers will need a Netwerk24 subscription. Readers can still follow our popular Facebook page to keep abreast of news in the area during the course of the week. “Providing local or area-specific news and information plays a vital role in today’s changing media landscape,” says Esmé Smith, general manager of Boland Media, which publishes DistrictMail. “The content of our local publications serves as a local watchdog in areas where national news providers or services cannot deliver the same intensity of information to readers. The uniqueness of local news remains a cornerstone in the existing and future media mix. With the ongoing development of digital media, we in local media publishing need to train our focus on the future. “We believe Netwerk24, which will include DistrictMail in the future, will provide our readers with a worldclass platform coupled with our world-class, fresh local news.”

Mail A chance to have your voice heard When Somerset Mall was built in the early 1990s, on land sold by AECI, it started the decline of Somerset West’s Central Business District (CBD). A number of shops operating in the CBD relocated and a host of new businesses opened in the mall. This all led to the rapid change of the town’s CBD. The continued expansion of the mall over the years and the string of robberies which hit the Somerset West CBD last year resulted in even more empty shops now seen in the area. However, all is not doom and gloom as the Somerset West CBD Building Owners’ Forum is calling on residents to share their ideas on the future development of the CBD. The formal business sector is looking for ways to develop the informal sector to address the needs of the consumers. At the same time they need to complement the present formal businesses in the town. To help achieve unity between these two sectors, the forum wants residents’ opinions, ideas and visions on what they would like to see as part of the town’s informal sector development. Therefore, the face of the Somerset West CBD over the next few years will depend on just how proactive Somerset West residents will be with their suggestions.

Rhodes Statue should be re-erected in Somerset West The statue of the globally famous and renowned Cecil Rhodes, whose philanthropic endowment has funded hundreds of Rhodes Scholars, was removed from the campus of the University of Cape Town, at the behest of a group of pre-adult students, to be mothballed or re-erected in some other place. The De Beers Company, largely owned by Rhodes, pioneered the manufacture of mining explosives and other products at the Somerset

West factory before the end of the 19th century. For the next 100 years or more De Beers employed, housed and sustained thousands of residents of the nearby towns in diverse fields of endeavour, contributing enormously to the development and prosperity of the area. It is suggested that our Town Council asks for the Rhodes statue so that this tribute to a man of incredible talent and ability, be reerected on the island at the inter-

section of Main and Church streets facing due north, the direction in which Cecil John Rhodes always cast his vision. Those young people responsible for Rhodes ignominy, and others of a political bent, should ponder the indignity to Rhodes might similarly be visited upon them by their grandchildren. Opinions change – history does not.

As dr.

Old kennel needed for dogs This is an informal settlement in the Gordon’s Bay Industrial Area where four dogs live. Unfortunately their owners have passed away and I have been feeding them for many years. Sadly these poor dogs do no longer have any shelter as a strong south-easter has destroyed the makeshift hokkie they previously had.

With the approaching winter rains on its way, I would be very grateful if anyone could let me have an old kennel, which could be used to house these dogs. Thank you.

Why don’t the women sim ply take their cellphones and start snapping away – even take a vid eo – and hand it in? I’m sure the sick culprit would be behind bars in no time. This is just a suggestion. ) Julia, you are missing the point! There are many ways of raising funds in a decent way, without ex posing the female body. ) To the driver of an unregistered black Jaguar in Caledon Street: to do your vehicle justice, take it to an accredited racetrack. In general, I am fedup with Somerset West motorists’ awful behaviour. ) Thank you to Cape Laminate for always going the extra mile to help and offer great service at value for money prices. Janet

Sanral’s tolling secret is out ) The money must come from somewhere. How about our current taxes and the increase in the fuel levy? Where is that money going? I refuse to pay for these tolls and I am sure this is going to be just as disastrous as the other e-toll [sagas]. Toll the taxis and then let’s see how fast things [will] go badly. The taxis and commuters will very quickly take a stand. Rory Currin ) This must be a joke. What is going on in South Africa? I hate this. Zintle Pakade ) Thank you, City of Cape Town, for trying to put a stop to this. I don’t mind paying for a toll if it is for the new N2 highway to bypass Somerset West. The traffic going through Somerset West is getting worse and worse. But what is the point of a toll road between Somerset West and the R300? [It would be a] waste of money. Lisa-Marie Bodington ) Someone has to pay for Zuma’s new jet and the fire pool must be due for an upgrade soon. Dale Wilson ) The people must stand up against the corruption. Ek gaan die komende week my lys aanstuur. Ek sê nie mense moet nie taxi’s gebruik nie. Isabel Booysen ) Links van BP is a problem. Pedal to the metal for a cause Longer than the Cape Town Cycle Tour, kinder than the Epic and more fun than both – this is the Helderberg Hospice Cycling for Life. The race will be held at the Somerset House sports hall on Saturday 16 May from 06:00 to 18:00. The annual endurance cyclathon, which raises funds for Helderberg Hospice, is a bicycle ride like no other. For the sixth consecutive year, sponsored teams of cyclists will compete over 12 hours to clock up the most kilometres raced on a trainer bicycle in one day. This unique event symbolises the endurance with which every cancer sufferer faces his or her condition, as well as the sustaining care they receive from Helderberg Hospice. Many riders, across the categories, will ride in memory of loved ones while standing in solidarity with those currently undergoing treatment or receiving Hospice care. Teams of three, six or 12 riders will take up the challenge to transform energy into money, with each team undertaking to raise a minimum of R3 600 to ensure that the special care of Helderberg Hospice will be made available. This year’s event boasts an Extreme category for the third time in which teams or individuals will take on the challenge to ride for a relentless 24 hours. Bikes are placed on trainers with computerised speedometers and cyclists pedal their way through a gruelling day of stationary competitive kilometres. Hi-octane music, a big screen TV,

While the pace set from the very start of the day proves that Cycling for Life is just as demanding as any of the major cycle events, the huge increase in across-the-board participation since its inception in 2010 shows that cyclists are keen to be part of this remarkable race. Sake Business

Call for ideas for SW CBD How do you envision the Somerset West Central Business District (CBD) in a few years? Magel Grové, chairperson of the Somerset West CBD Building Owners’ Forum, says the forum would like to gain residents’ ideas and feedback on the development of the CBD. The forum is currently in discussion with the City of Cape Town about the development of the area’s informal trading sector. The City intends making room for about 84 informal stalls in the CBD, from the post office to the City Hall. However, Grové says the formal business sector is opposing the high number of informal stalls, because occupation of buildings in the CBD is currently low. “There are several vacant shops to rent in the CBD,” she explains.

The formal business sector is looking for ways to develop the informal sector to address the needs of consumers in the area. It also needs to complement, rather than overlap the formal business sector. “We welcome the opinions and recommendations of Somerset West residents on how they would like to see the town’s informal sector developed in terms of position and products,” Grové adds. Furthermore, Grové says the business community is pleased the Helderberg Street People’s Centre was relocated to the Somerset West Night Shelter, to make way for the development of a transport hub for Somerset West. “I have seen the plans for the hub and it look very promising,” she concludes. Send your suggestions and visions for the CBD to somersetwestcbdbof@gmail.com.

Is history repeating itself for Buffet?

Bloomberg recently posted an article on the worst-performing billionaire for the year, which is none other than the second richest man in the world, Warren Buffett. Buffett has reportedly lost $3 billion since the start of the year, shrinking his net worth to just over $70 million. Shame! His wealth is measured by his shares in the company he founded and still runs today, Berkshire Hathaway. It is a conglomerate of many underlying diverse businesses. The reason this article drew my attention is because during the technology bubble at the turn of the millennium, Berkshire Hathaway similarly under-performed the market. Market commentators claimed Buffet was too old to understand the new age economy and had lost the plot. Needless to say, they ate their words after the tech bubble burst and the overvalued tech stocks, which had driven the stock market, came crashing down. Not holding any tech stocks, Berkshire Hathaway’s relative performance was phenomenal. Another one of my favourite offshore asset managers, Orbis, has also under-performed the market and peers over the last 12 months. They, too, avoided the tech bubble of the millennium. I have heard it said, “history does not repeat itself, but it certainly rhymes”, as

investors we suffer from “recency bias”. We have short memories. We project the recent past and expect this to continue into the future, forgetting the lessons we have learnt. I cannot say whether the recent relative under-performance of Buffet and many other value managers is a repeat of what we experienced in 2000, but I believe caution is warranted particularly if you are basing your investment decision on the recent past performance of your manager. In their latest quarterly Managers Report, Orbis introduced the concept of “trending”, which is illustrated graphically below. The graph depicts the correlation of performance over the last 12 months vs the 12 months prior in respect of those shares, which have been out-performing or – in plain English – the shares that are doing well have continued to do well. This could be an indication of an expensive share getting even more expensive as the “herd” – wall of cheap central bank money – chases yesterday’s returns. Warren Buffet said: “Be fearful when others are greedy and be greedy when others are fearful.”

Exceptional tunny run off Cape Point The calm seas from Friday to Sunday coincided with an exceptional tunny run off Cape Point.

FISH ’N CHIRPS

Art Ridgway This is the time of season when tunny are around in the Cape and when locals and visitors pay up to R2 000 per person to charter a tunny trip. During the last three days, the coordinates 38-08 and 22 miles off the Cape Point provided one of the better tunny runs in a number of years. The calm weather and lack of snoek catches locally even lured a number of snoek boats to try and catch a few tunny to make a living. Boats from Hout Bay also located tunny and had good catches on the west side. Well-known deep sea charter anglers Alan du Plessis, Jason Jooste and Gareth Beaumont of South Sea Safaris, together with visitors who chartered boats Tyler and Lynx, reported some excellent catches of tunny. Alan said on Saturday and Sunday they had several yellowfin up to 45 kg. They also reported many shoals of 45 to 90 longfin tunny of between 15 kg to 25 kg, as well as smaller yellowfin caught on lures trawled A very satisfied charter fisherman, from the back of the boats. spearfishermen also reported some epic battles targeting and boating very large yellowfin. Due to the lack of snoek in our waters since last July, a number of snoek boats opted to fish for snoek on the West Coast. Small boats and recreational fishermen from the Strand are still having good catches of mackerel in the calm water at Hottentots bankies and from Maccassar 9 and 13 fathom reefs. During Saturday and Sunday evening, a few kob and elf were also caught by small boats and kayak fishermen in the Poort area. Rock and surf regulars reported good catches of kob from just size to 13 kg at Paaltjies and the river mouth at Macassar Beach. Johan Uys reported catching kob from Friday evening to Sunday morning, fishing alongside Blake’s Island in Strand. He caught kob from 1,5 kg to 5 kg while using frozen maasbaker as bait. Local residents and anglers are concerned about the streaky patches of discoloured water which appears to be a developing red tide. This phenomenon often occurs at this time of the year and can develop into a full red tide. It is well-known that in these northwesterly conditions many bait fish like harders, maasbankers and small elf – being surface feeders – are driven close to the mountain side by these streaks of red plankton water. Some of the best yellowtail catches in the past have been caught by spinnermen from Blousteen, The Slope, Whalerock and ledges on the Rooi Els side. The present red tide bloom, even if it is non-toxic, can devastate marine life. At the moment there is no danger and the correct wind and currents could disperse the bloom. However, remember that given the optimum weather conditions, tides and weather, a red tide can be devastating such as the recent red tide on the West Coast which caused thousands of crayfish to walk out onto the beach due to lack of oxygen. Talented gymnast earns top award MARK STUART “Janey is the most talented and driven gymnast I’ve ever had the pleasure of coaching.” So says Helderberg Gymnastics Connection coach Cherelle Ericksen when describing Janey Sutherland, the DistrictMail’s Let’s Play Sports Star for March. The 11-year-old superstar was crowned South African champion at the National Gymnastics Games in October last year. She achieved her number 1 ranking in the Level 4 category for women gymnasts in the 10 and under age group. She scored an incredible9.05onthe vault, 9.45 on the bar, 9.30 on the beam and 9.25 on the floor for an average of 9.2625 and a total of 37.05 out of a possible 40 points. Before attending nationals, Janey won the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Western Cape trials, qualified for Western Province colours and went on to win the provincial championships. The Grade 5 Vergezicht Private School pupil only started gymnastics in May 2013. “She was always skipping and doing cartwheels around the houseandnaggedmetoletherjoin a gym,” says Janey’s mother, Cornel Power. “Eventually I gave in and Googled gyms in our area and found Helderberg Gymnastics Connection in Somerset West and signed her up in April 2013.” After her first day at Helderberg Gymnastics Connection, Ericksen and head coach Karin Brown told Cornel Janey had an amazing talent which needed to be developed. “Besides being naturally talented, Janey has an incredible drive and trains five times a week,” Ericksen explains.

Janey Sutherland (11) shows off her skill and grace on the balance beam. “She competed in two competitions in May 2013 and finished second in both. She then competed in the South Zone Competition in Uitenhage in August and won the Level 1 competition. In December, she won the most improved gymnast title at the club and skipped three levels to compete in Level 4 in 2014.” At her club’s year-end function last year, she was voted gymnast and club member of the year. Her coaches pushed her up three grades so that she will compete in Level 7 in competitions as of next month. Ericksen says her goal for Janey after Level 7 is for the SA team, which will prepare her for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and, finally, the Olympics. Although proud of her many achievements, none have gone to Janey’s head. “I like gymnastics andwanttocarryonbecauseIlove learning new routines, challenges and new skills.” She is very thankful to her mother and coach for their help and support.

Another round of tough matches await local clubs this weekend

St Georges handed an early season wake-up call LYNDON JULIUS St Georges were initiated into the Super League A with a 17-53 defeat against Tygerberg at Gustrouw on Saturday. It was the visitors that made the initial score through a well-worked try, which saw Strand-based flanker Dale Wilson score against his former team. Wilson went on to score a hat-trick of tries in the match. St Georges, however, struck back with two quick tries in succession, with veteran lockforward Clive Meyer dotting down for the home team and pocket-rocket wing Michael la Meyer going over for the second try. But both conversions were missed by flyhalf, Moeneeb Brinkhuis (10-5). The first-half, much like most of the match, saw Tygerberg dominate in practically all facets of the game. There were, however, bursts of brilliance from the home side’s flanker Trevino Alfes-

tus, vice-captain Morne Adams and seasoned hooker Megan Rose. The half-time score was 31-10 to Tygerberg. A ball in hand approach by the Lulu Boys would have been an ideal neutraliser for the ruthless attacking onslaught of Tygerberg. However, failed tactical kicks by St Georges played right into the visitors’ hands and allowedthepossessiontobeoverturnedtime and again. This also allowed them to dictate the attack for most of the match. Tiere scored seven unanswered tries, which brought the score to 10-53, just before home captain Isadore Armien scored a consolation last minute try, which was also converted to take the score to 17-53. The Lulu Boys would have taken a considerable amount of notes, not only from their opponents’ style of play, but also from their abilitiesandwhattofocusoninthefollowing weeks to come.

for the visitors. Both sides lost last weekend and will be keen to get their first Super B win. Are Raithby good enough to cause a small upset? I don’t think so. Prediction: Raithby to lose by 10 or less. Strand United vs Goodwood – Goodwood United beating Langa was just the start they needed. Goodwood, on the other hand, had a big victory last weekend and are my favourites in this league. With homeground advantage, a big set of forwards and fast backs, this could be a long afternoon for United. Prediction: United to lose by eight or more. All Saints vs Khayelitsha – Somerset West All Saints surprised many by winning Cloetesville last week and should be way too strong for Khayelitsha. But these are the sort of fixtures that they somehow manage to lose. Khayelitsha will do well to get a point from this match. Prediction: All Saints to win by 10 or more. Strand Pioneers vs Cloetesville – Abbattoir Pines are playing at home for the first time since last season and will be itching for a first victory since 2013. They could, however, not have asked for more difficult opponents. Prediction: Pioneers to continue their losing streak by more than 15. Eerste River play Thisles while Macassar and Strand are off this week.

De Beers net six to win opener De Beers AFC got their season off to a winning start with a 6-0 victory over Trinity Spurs on Saturday. The first team’s goal scorers were Chris Botha (with a hat-trick), Damian O’Grady, David Paterson and first team captain Wesley Husted. The second team received their three points by default. The under-40s are still finding their feet

and suffered a 4-1 loss against Tramway. The De Beers junior season kicks off on Saturday 18 April. Training times at the club are juniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:30 until 18:30 and seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 19:00 until 21:00. With so many aspects of club rugby becoming more professional, our clubs seem to be stepping up nicely. Sir Lowrians and All Saints both walked away with victories on the road at the weekend. The fixtures for this week are: Sir Lowrians vs Maties – Sir Lowrys Pass All involved with Sir Lowrians over the past few seasons have dreamt of the Mighty Maties playing at Sir Lowry’s Park. After a great victory over Belhar, The Navy Train will be quietly confident. Maties could be a bit rusty after the Varsity Cup, but will have a better team than the one that competed there. This could be the biggest result in the history of WP club rugby if one considers that Sir Lowrians were in Division 5 in 2007. Prediction: Sir Lowrians to lose by 10 or more. St Georges vs Belhar – Gustrouw The Lulus had a tough match last week and I’m sure they’ll have a better grasp of what is expected this week. Belhar lost a close match last week, but will be confident based on what Tygerberg could get from this fixture. Prediction: St Georges to lose by 15 or less. Helderberg vs False Bay – Charles Morkel Stadium This fixture has always been an exciting match, with The Bay coming out on top more often than not. Berge are not good enough to be a real threat to a strong False Bay side with Community Cup aspirations. Prediction: Helderberg to lose by 15 or more. Raithby Universals vs Franschhoek – Franschoek With Franschhoek pipping RU to win the league last year, this could be a revenge match
