Diwali, Festival of Lights, Shines at Jordan Springs The Jordan Springs community celebrated the Indian festival of Diwali last month, enjoying traditional dancing and music, food and other cultural activities at the Jordan Springs Town Centre. Arthur Ilias, Lendlease Communities General Manager NSW/ACT, said the Diwali event was designed to celebrate diversity within the Jordan Springs community. “Over the course of the day, around 500 people visited Jordan Springs to enjoy the flavours and festivities of Diwali, including many of our new Jordan Springs East residents,” said Mr Ilias. Celebrated annually at Jordan Springs, the cultural event was embraced by residents and visitors alike with one resident Natalia saying that her family loved the experience, colour and music. “The kids tried henna painting, and it was great to see the crowd dress up in national costume,” said Natalia. Bhativia, a purchaser currently residing in Wentworthville, said the family was really excited about moving to Jordan Springs East and wanted to meet some new friends. “Our daughter had a wonderful time dancing and getting dressed up,” said Bhativia. Lendlease is committed to supporting a range of cultural and community groups at Jordan Springs. In addition to Diwali, other calendar events celebrated with the community at Jordan Springs include Chinese New Year, Harmony Day and Christmas.
