In the wake of drastic spending cuts heralded by the Comprehensive Spending Review, the coalition government has made it clear that it expects the private sector to be the main driver of economic growth in 2011 and beyond. While there is no doubt that the region’s firms are up to the challenge, we realise that now more than ever you need continued support and a strong voice representing your interests. That’s where the Chamber comes in.

Bespoke Equality legal check service aims to reduce costly mistakes

Over the past few months we have been working hard on a number of behind-the-scenes improvements designed to improve communication with our members and offer additional benefits. Our website – www.wcnwchamber.org.uk – has been re-launched (read more about this on page 5) and we have brought in specialist training and events coordinators to enhance our offering in an area that we know is extremely important to our members. We take our role as the leading lobbying body for businesses in the region seriously, and that’s why we have also recently launched a media campaign to boost the public profile of the Chamber and our members. The newly-formed Business Council, which held its second meeting in October, goes from strength to strength. The council is the only forum of its kind where private and public sector bosses from West Cheshire and North Wales can sit round the table to share ideas and influence decisions affecting the prosperity of the area. We now have a robust board of directors in place that understands your priorities. I myself have been with the Chamber for more than six months, and during that time have been fortunate enough to meet many members and learn about the extensive talent bases and innovations taking place within them. David Cameron says the coalition’s agenda will be the most “pro-business, pro-growth and pro-jobs” of any government in history. It remains to be seen whether the coalition can live up to that promise, but what is clear is that West Cheshire and North Wales businesses are well placed to thrive despite the new ‘age of austerity.’ I believe that the Chamber and its members can look forward to 2011 with confidence.

On October 1st this year the Equality Act 2010 came into force. The Act, which combined and replaced nine laws and more than one hundred other measures introduced piecemeal fashion since the seventies, was the single largest piece of discrimination legislation this country has seen. Whilst the purpose of the Act was “to strengthen protection, advance equality and de-clutter the law”, in reality it has presented an administration nightmare, not just for those running businesses but also for Clubs, Societies and other organisations. Finding time to get a handle just on the various definitions of ‘Discrimination’ within the Act has been bad enough for those whose everyday job is outside the legal sector. Worse is the onerous task of having to read through every Policy, Procedure and Contract in the organisation to ensure there are no exclusions that could be viewed as discriminating. As always with the introduction of new legislation there follows a bombardment of helpful companies offering to take care of changes within your organisation for what, in some cases, turns out to be quite considerable cost. And invariably much of the service offered is beyond what you actually require. It was with this in mind that when the Equality 2010 Act came into force Wrexham law firm, GHP Legal, decided to offer a bespoke service for Businesses, Clubs and other organisations that have little experience of legislation. Built around the client’s specific needs the service aims to check that all processes, procedures and contracts within an organisation are compliant. This could entail an employment law expert visiting your offices to check through paperwork, or you simply emailing a contract to them for checking. Prosperity for Cheshire in spotlight as business chiefs gather for top talks Influential business leaders from across Cheshire have come together to discuss some of the region’s key economic issues and strategies to help ensure its future prosperity Heads of businesses, universities and other public sector organisations in the county gathered for the second meeting of West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce’s Business Council. The business council is a new strategic body set up by the chamber. Its objective is to seize economic opportunities and resolve key business issues affecting chamber members and the wider business community. The council is the only forum of its kind for the region where private and public sector bosses can sit round the table and share ideas and influence decisions affecting the prosperity of the area. Chamber members and other businesses can apply to the business council for a slot at a meeting to make their case about a problem or an opportunity and seek its support. Colin Brew, general manager of West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce, said: “We are really encouraged by the level of enthusiasm for the business council. Despite it only being our second meeting, we had a good turnout and a wide range of topics was discussed. “Already, a number of matters have been adopted by the business council for its support. “Never has such a forum been more important than now, with the economy still in a fragile state and continuing concern about the impact

of the implementation of the Government’s spending review.” Colin added: “Businesses are welcome to bring their own ideas and issues to the meetings. We hope they seize the opportunity as it gives them unrivalled access to leading decision-makers and influencers in the region.” Those attending the meeting at the University of Chester’s Kingsway campus, included Steve Robinson, chief executive of Cheshire West and Chester County Council, Aiden Manley, managing director of Cheshire & Warrington Enterprise Commission; Prof Phil Harris, Executive Dean at the University of Chester’s Faculty of Business; Rita Waters, Chief Executive of Chester Renaissance and Sarah Mogel, Principal of West Cheshire College. Issues discussed included: Apprenticeships and how small- and mediumsized businesses can benefit by selecting young people with the skills they need The introduction of Local Enterprise Partnerships and opportunities for the private sector Plans to increase employment opportunities in three key business parks Deeside and how organisations can work together to improve the area The council also gave its support to a managing director who asked it for help in speeding up resolution of a planning policy issue that threatened to cause a business to relocate from the region. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, 12th May 2011 in St Asaph, north Wales. Region’s small firms can fuel growth with banks’ help SMALL firms across North Wales/Cheshire can help keep the region’s economy afloat in the face of looming government spending cuts, according to a leading business organisation. West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce believes small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will play an increasingly vital role in creating jobs and growth following the coalition’s comprehensive spending review on October 20, which is widely expected to result in public sector job cuts. However, Chamber bosses have warned that banks must begin offering accessible and affordable credit if SMEs are to thrive. The warning comes after latest Bank of England figures revealed that lending to small businesses across the country fell for the fifth month in a row in July. Colin Brew, general manager of West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce, said: “With public sector cutbacks on the way, the onus is well and truly on the private sector to help avoid a double-dip recession. “I have no doubt that the private sector is up to

the challenge, but two years after the financial crisis the lack of affordable finance remains the principal obstacle to growth.” Business secretary Vince Cable told the recent Liberal Democrat conference in Liverpool that there was a ‘compelling case’ for new taxes on banks that fail to lend to small and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs). Mr Brew welcomed the comments, but that added that the problem was more complicated than a straightforward ‘refusal’ to lend. He said: “Many of our members – especially smaller firms – have been offered credit but only at extortionate and unaffordable repayment rates. It’s overly simplistic to say that banks simply aren’t lending; they are offering companies loans but the onerous interest rates and terms and conditions put the deal beyond the reach of many. They simply can’t afford to pay it back.” Mr Brew added that another problem was the length of time it can take for loan applications to be processed.

“In the pre-credit crunch days a business owner could walk into the bank, apply for a loan and have it approved by the manager there and then. Increasingly what were previously routine applications have to be sent to head office for approval, which can cause significant delays. By the time the application has been approved, the business opportunity has all too often gone.” West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce represents 90,000 employees across the region, and its members range from large corporate PLCs to owner-managed businesses in a range of sectors. Commenting on the coalition government’s plan to reduce the budget deficit, Mr Brew said that while he supported the focus on spending cuts as opposed to tax rises, austerity measures must be accompanied by support for businesses to enable them to deliver growth and create jobs. A key feature of this support should be a reduction in red tape for start-ups and smaller companies, he said.

North Wales / Cheshire firms wasting thousands on HR red tape SMALL firms across Cheshire and North Wales are needlessly forking out up to £3,000 a year struggling to keep up with complex employment and HR law, a business organisation has warned. West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce says fledgling companies in the region are effectively burning money by going to specialist providers for their employment law services. Colin Brew, general manager at West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce, said: “Often when entrepreneurs start up their own business they can feel overwhelmed by all the red tape involved, and one area especially that causes confusion is employment law and HR (human resources). “Whether it’s drawing up contracts for staff or making sure you have a proper grievance procedure in place, it can be a minefield and it’s very difficult to know about all the different hoops to jump through.

starting out and trying to get your business off the ground.” Headquartered in Chester, West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce represents 90,000 employees across the region, stretching from Vale Royal in Cheshire to Gwynedd and Anglesey in north west Wales. What does “Without Prejudice” mean? Receiving a communication headed with the words “Without Prejudice” can be disconcerting, particularly when parties are trying to resolve a dispute with another party. The reality is that many people use the term “without prejudice” to imply the threat of litigation without fully understanding what it means. So what does it mean? Introduced more than 100 years ago, the rule aims to encourage parties involved in a dispute to reach an out of court settlement. By stating “Without Prejudice,” negotiations can be entered into openly and potentially without the fear of anything that is said during the negotiations being used in evidence at a trial, should the negotiations fail. However, just having “Without Prejudice” on a communication is not sufficient for this rule to apply. There are two elements that must be present. Firstly, there must be a dispute. Legal proceedings need not have commenced for ‘Without Prejudice’ to apply, there need only be a case that could result in litigation, if settlement is not reached. Secondly the content of the communication must be a genuine attempt to settle the dispute. Simply including the words ‘Without Prejudice’ in a communication will not prevent the content from being admissible in Court if the document is not a genuine attempt to resolve the dispute. Also the Court will often take into consideration ‘Without Prejudice’ communications when assessing an award for costs against a party or where there is a dispute as to the terms of any settlement agreement which was agreed on a without prejudice basis.

If used correctly the term ‘Without Prejudice’ can be an effective way for parties to protect themselves and their businesses whilst saving time and costs by settling disputes. However it should never be far from the mind of any author of any ‘Without Prejudice’ communication that the content of such documents could eventually end up before a Court to consider. Venture promises exciting future for science campus The Government has announced a public-private joint venture that establishes Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus in Cheshire as one of the world’s principal locations for scientific research, innovative technology development and entrepreneurial collaboration. Minister of State for Universities and Science, David Willetts, confirmed the Government’s support for the new partnership comprising the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), Halton Borough Council, the Northwest

Development Agency and property investment development company Langtree. The 20-year joint venture creates a 50:50 partnership between the public and private sectors and is planned to bring more than 6,000 jobs to the area. David Willetts said: “The Government is committed to maximising and exploiting science, technology and innovation to stimulate the national economy, particularly in this current climate. This joint venture is an integral part of that strategy to demonstrate the positive impact of this kind of investment through the creation of new technologies, products and services, and the creation of new jobs that will benefit all aspects of UK society. “Daresbury has a long heritage of providing

cutting-edge and innovative science and this development will not only strengthen the science base at the campus, it will also drive inward investment and increase the economic impact of science through access to a broad range of scientific capability and facilities, teamed with international collaboration, open innovation leading to the creation and growth of new business.” Under the agreement, STFC will help ensure that research can be harnessed and exploited by industry. Langtree will develop one million square foot of space for science and innovation facilities, hi-tech businesses and supporting infrastructure for the Campus, which has already benefitted from more than £67m investment from the Northwest Development Agency. The Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus is home to STFC’s Daresbury Laboratory, The Cockcroft Institute and the Daresbury Innovations Centre, which already hosts more than 100 high-tech companies, most of which are SMEs looking to find solutions to global challenges including energy, healthcare, security and the environment.

20 Questions Interview Name: Patrick Kingsley-Williams Job Title: Managing Director Company: MWL Systems Lives: Llanarmon-yn-Ial Q1) What brings you to the computer industry? My first passion was electronics and I studied electrical engineering at university. In the 1970s the start of the digital revolution meant that most systems were being re-engineered using digital techniques and it’s a small step from that to IT. Q2) What advice would you give anybody wanting to get into this industry? Be flexible and open to change. Try to see the real world business application, rather than concentrating on the technology for its own sake. Q3) What is the most important thing to look for in a new recruit? The ability to communicate effectively and to quickly assimilate and describe new ideas and knowledge. Q4) If you could employ anybody from the world of business who would it be and why? I’m most impressed by those who can motivate others to achieve what that didn’t know they could. People like Terry Leahy, though I’m not a big fan of the dominance his supermarket has achieved - sometimes at the expense of suppliers and other smaller businesses. Q5) As a business person describe your three main qualities? An ability to enthuse and get the best out of people, empathy with the customer’s point of view and competitiveness.

Q8) What do you always carry with you to work? My HTC smart phone but mostly for emails. I always like to know what’s going on. Q9) Would you say you live to work or work to live? MWL Systems and the business we’re in is never very far from my thoughts 24/7 and I get some of my best (and worst) ideas when I’m away from my desk! Q10) Who is the most famous person you have ever met – what were they like? I don’t really recognise fame or celebrity, as some of the most impressive people I’ve met are unknown and unsung in the wider world. Q11) Who in your view is the IT industry role model and why? Apple’s Steve Jobs has excelled in creating and marketing a range of (mostly) well designed products and a culture which has led to tremendous brand loyalty. Having said that I can’t help but admire Bill Gates, not for Microsoft but for his recent acts of altruism. Q12) What is your biggest achievement? Taking the opportunity afforded by being made redundant twenty six years ago and turning this negative into a successful, profitable and highly stable company which now provides a living for dozens of families in the area.

Q6) And your worst quality? Impatience, once decided on a course of action I want it to happen now.

Q13) What was your first job and the amount in your first pay packet? Packing boxes in a cash and carry warehouse in Saltney. I seem to remember getting 30 shillings a week which is £1.50 in today’s money.

Q7) What has been your most satisfying moment in business? When we finally paid off a substantial bank loan which I took out to partly pay for a major reconstruction of the business at MWL Systems about ten years ago. We haven’t looked back ever since which is also a major tribute to the team who came with me.

Q14) If you could choose to work for any company in the world which would it be and why? In my own industry IBM would be an exciting company to work for, particularly as they seem to have managed the successful transition from being a leading manufacturer to a leading service company over the past few years.

Q15) If you won the lottery would you retire? Not as a direct result, but a big win would probably increase my work load as I’d want to be sure that it was being used properly for good. This might mean cutting down my hours in the office. This is hypothetical as I don’t do the lottery! Q16) Do you make time for lunch every day? Seldom, I’m one of those work-through types who gets sandwich crumbs in his keyboard. Q17) What is a normal day for you? I am fortunate enough to enjoy a relaxing 20 minute commute through peaceful countryside which allows me to arrive at work refreshed between 8:30 and 9:00. Answering too many e-mails takes a percentage of the day the rest being spent in meetings both internal and with clients and suppliers. When not in communication activities I can work on the business strategy and planning. I generally leave the office at 6 o’clock but rarely resist the temptation to check my emails in the evening at home. Q18) If you could work in a completely different field, what would it be? I don’t know why, but psychology has always fascinated me especially forensic or criminal psychology. Maybe I read too much Sherlock Holmes as a boy. Q19) If you could turn the clock back, what would you have changed about your business career? Having seen alternative careers and outcomes I’m pretty happy with what I’ve achieved with MWL Systems as a company. Anyway, I believe in looking forward not backwards. Q20) What hobbies do you have? I like nothing more than spending time pottering in the garden or tinkering in the workshop at home on the latest DIY project. I enjoy listening to music, mainly jazz, and reading science fiction and biographies.

Sale Sharks came to Chester

Graham Evans, Weaver Valley MP was joined on a panel by Geoff Hope Terry, Chairman of the Weaver Valley Partnership Board and Councillors Keith Musgrave and Herbert Manley. The panel outlined future plans for the Weaver Valley area and answered questions from concerned residents about their own issues, in particular plans for the Winsford shopping centre, Civic Hall and surrounding areas.

The West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce was delighted to organise ‘An evening with Sale Sharks’ at The Bank of America in Chester. More than 30 Chamber members and rugby fans gathered for a great networking evening, where following drinks and refreshments, guests learnt all about the history of Sale Sharks Rugby Club and its corporate hospitality facilities with a presentation from Nathan Bombrys, Commercial Director, Sale Sharks. Hosted by Steve Hanley, a formed Sale Sharks player, guests were then invited to ask the four international players all their burning rugby questions. Mark Cueto, Charlie Hodgson, Dwayne Peel and James Gaskell posed for photographs with guests and obliged by autographing posters and Sale Sharks memorabilia. A great evening of networking and mingling with the players, was rounded-off

with all guests being presented with a packedout goody bag. Cheshire FM covered the evening and interviewed all four of the international players, which was then played on the radio the following day. Sale Sharks were so delighted that the evening had gone so well, they are already talking about hosting another event in Chester next year. Watch this space for dates…

Other issues with regards to the demise of the ‘Northwich Vision’, increasing business rates, road infrastructures and plans to attract new business to Northwich town centre now that the mines have been filled in were also raised. The evening attracted interesting debate and certainly gave Graham Evans and the other members of the panel food for thought. Improving our local areas is an on-going issue with plenty of funding bids and hard work taking place in the background. Those that attended have been extended a warm welcome to visit Graham Evans at his new Northwich-based office anytime with any other burning issues.

Peter Hawkins

Managing Director of the Cheshire Jets Basketball Team

For Peter Hawkins, his job as Managing Director of the Cheshire Jets Basketball Club is a labour of love. However, for all he is a huge fan of the sport and relishes being involved, one of his big themes has also been bringing business practices to the job of developing the club further.

When business and pleasure coincide with rehabilitating young offenders and many other young people in between. This year, the charity’s programmes will reach more than 8,000 young people. “Professional sport is so powerful to any community as a potential force for good. Basketball, in particular, is a sport of lower demographics. It has an image, a lifestyle, music and fashion associated with it that means we can use it to engage those young people which other programmes are unable to reach.” Underpinning everything he does, whether it be on the professional playing side or through the work of the Foundation, is the realisation that a successful basketball club has benefits for the economy of the area.

And he believes it is important that he succeeds because a healthy basketball club has significant knock-on effects for the economy of the area, both in terms of increased publicity and income generated and invested in the wider community.

staff and that investment must be affordable and generate a return.” Because of that philosophy, Peter believes that it is crucial that he and his staff always think commercially when it comes to developing the club.

The earlier years of Peter’s businesses career were spent in the food industry. Initially, he joined Hazlewood Foods PLC following graduation and progressed to become MD of its Pann Krisp site in Wrexham, a chilled food manufacturer turning over £30m a year as it supplied major retailers.

He said: “Pro basketball is a tough industry in the UK and it’s important we constantly remind ourselves of that. We have to live within our means and not go in search of short-term glory at the expense of a long-term sustainable future.

In 2002, he was given the opportunity to be part of a two-man management buyout of the company from Hazlewood Foods. Having developed the business further over the three years that followed, they sold it to Fenmarc Foods in 2005.

“Many people will see basketball as an American sport. It is less well known that, for many European countries, it is the number one or number two sport, with attendances at games topping 10,000 people and players earning £1m annual contracts.

When the hand-over period was completed, Peter found himself seeking a new challenge and the opportunity arose to take over at his beloved Cheshire Jets, a professional basketball club based in Chester and determined to be part of the game‘s elite.

“The challenge in the UK is overcoming the media dominance that football, in particular, has. We do this through growing participation at grassroots level and showing young people what a great sport it is.”

Peter, who with wife Joanne and children, Sam 14 and Georgie 12, was a supporter of the club at the time the offer came along, jumped at the chance. He said: “I was a fan and, with my family, a season ticket holder at the Jets. In 2007, they were in danger of folding and was asked if I could get involved. I took over as a labour of love in summer 2007. “My biggest challenge as Managing Director of the Cheshire Jets is ensuring the pro team continues to run as a business. We don’t invest in plant and machinery. We invest in playing

Which is where the Jets Foundation comes into the story, a charity which takes the sport out to the region‘s young people and uses it as a way of shaping and changing lives. Peter, who is passionate about that side of the Jets’ activities, said: “We set up Jets Foundation as a non-profit making business and later a registered charity, which is now the aspect that receives most of my time and focus on a full-time basis. The Foundation uses the hook of professional sport to engage young people across the North West in various programmes.

Peter, who lives just outside Chester, said: “Sport generally punches above its weight in Cheshire with 21,180 people employed in the industry, £1.7bn of turnover and more than 5% of people in Cheshire employed in the industry. A successful basketball club raises the profile of the region with national TV and press coverage. In addition, we are a business which employees eleven full-time people year round and 20 in season, have a fan base of more than 4,000 Jets members and turnover approaching £1m.” He is ambitious for the club to keep growing in the years to come, saying: “The club and, in particular, our community activity has expanded exponentially over the last four years. Our key goals for the club are, firstly, to build an arena which will a home for our community activity and a 2,500-seater facility for pro games. We have publicly announced a joint proposal with our friends at Cheshire West and Chester, to become the largest basketball club in the country in terms of membership. We are currently fourth. “Another target is to win some silverware for our fans but by far the most important challenge is to build our community programme to continue to be a force for good for the young people in our region.” *Jets Foundation and Cheshire Jets pro team are keen to expand their commercial partners for 2010/11 season. Technology Super Highway By Mark Dixon, Principal Regeneration Manager, Denbighshire County Council New technologies and their application are the drivers of economic growth. The harnessing of steam power and its application to transport during the nineteenth century has shaped the subsequent development of the whole Chamber area from the docks on the Mersey to the resorts on the North Wales coast which enjoyed spectacular growth following the opening of the Chester and Holyhead railway. The advent and improvement of the internal combustion engine brought about the need for trunk roads of the quality of the M53/M56 and the A55. Today those same roads have a key role to play in harnessing a new generation of technologies for the benefit of the region as they connect clusters of leading edge businesses and educational institutions distributed along their length. Recognising both the potential and the geographical challenge which this linear distribution poses, the Mersey Dee Alliance (which has been formed from five local authorities in the region from Denbighshire in the west to Wirral in the east together with the Welsh Assembly Government and North West Development Agency) is currently working with the Chamber, Glyndwr University and the University of Chester to set up an Innovation Network to support this corridor of knowledge and industry. The Network will be of particular relevance to the key growth sectors in

the area including low carbon and renewable energy, health and biosciences, advanced manufacturing and materials, and digital and creative industries. The Network will aim to improve the performance of businesses, by providing a means for them to talk to each other and to be aware of and access national initiatives and opportunities. There will be some pilot events which will consist of informal business breakfasts plus the occasional specialist seminar and details of Network diary dates will be listed on the Alliance’s website www.merseydeealliance.org.uk

Profit from learning… Companies are always looking for ways to drive competitive advantage and growth. Example one: Frustrated team members constantly arguing and squabbling with one another. Upon investigation it became evident that each team member did not have clear and concise job descriptions. Through research they found ‘they did not understand the products’ – but it was not that simple. This group were professionals, senior and intelligent; they were not going to be convinced by young slick sale people. The solution was to pull in educational experts to provide a range of programmes and resources, targeted to this audience to give them confidence and to understand their clients better. The consequence was a dramatic uptake in investment products by the target population group.

Accolade for thirty years of service Maria Pereira has served almost a million meals to guests and staff in a career spanning 30 years at The Chester Grosvenor and Spa Hotel. Now Maria’s three decades of service have been recognised with a long service award and presentation. Maria, a mum-of-two and grandmother-of-five, celebrated the landmark with colleagues and friends at a champagne reception. The 64-year-old from Shotton, North Wales, started work at the five-star landmark hotel in 1980 after spotting an ad in the Chester Leader. She said: “I never thought when I saw that job advertised that I would still be here 30 years on. I really enjoy working here. “I know every member of staff in the hotel and like making sure they have a good meal when they are at work. “The chefs have been very kind to me. I’ve worked here so long I’ve watched executive chef Simon Radley grow up!” Maria started out making breakfast and lunch

for guests in the hotel’s kitchen but 20 years ago she was given her own kitchen to run – the staff dining room. Since then she has served up hot food every lunchtime for hundreds of hungry hotel staff. Jonathan Slater, managing director of The Chester Grosvenor and Spa, said: “Maria has the most important job in the hotel because she keeps staff fed and happy. “Thirty years at The Chester Grosvenor and Spa is a real achievement and we couldn’t let that anniversary pass without marking it with Maria.”

North West freelancers in the digital, creative and marketing sector reported signs of green shoots at the recent Brookson Enterprise Freelance Fair.

Vale Royal Abbey Vale Royal Abbey was a medieval abbey and later a country house. It was founded in 1270 by Edward I for monks of the austere Cistercian order. New challenge for Kate Kate Parkinson has been appointed as the new Angels Den Regional Manager for Wales and the West Midlands. Building on the success of its funding events in the South East, the North of England and Scotland, Angels Den is working with Innovas Solutions to extend its business angel funding service to entrepreneurs and investors in the North West, West Midlands and Wales. An MBA graduate from Cardiff Business School, with 15 years experience working in construction, biotechnology and the environmental sector, Kate has also managed major public sector business support contracts helping companies to grow and expand into new markets. In her new role, Kate will not only be looking for innovative entrepreneurs and small businesses that need angel funding,

but also helping experienced investors to find great local opportunities, and hopefully helping some new and first-time investors take that first step. Kate, who is from Innovas Solutions who have been appointed as the Regional Manager for Angels Den in Wales, Northwest England, and the West Midlands, said: “I love working with small businesses because many of them show such creativity and imagination that no two days are ever the same.
