WoRLD ViEW The 2013 programme for the Sussex Enterprise supported Sussex International Trade forum (SITf), brings some modifications to the established format that has proved such a success over the four years since the forum started. The goals remain the same: n To create opportunities for Sussex business to discuss International trade. n To encourage businesses that do not yet trade outside the uK to consider trading and have the opportunity to learn from other businesses that have that experience. n To assist those already trading internationally to consider new markets and build their general skills base. n To share skills and experience in general between businesses by listening to successful Sussex businesses sharing their insights. The changes include adding to the established format of a territorial focus, a second trade topic that is related to the territory in focus but has wider general interest. In addition, the SITf is for its first meeting of the year, holding a breakfast meeting for the first time. The forum has had the support of uKTI and hSBC since inception, but this year legal company DMh Stallard has added its support and indeed the first Trade forum of the year on february 22nd will be held at their Crawley offices. The full annual programme, along with dates and locations, is highlighted in the box below.

rob fryatt of horsham based international business consultants xenex associates, who chairs the forum commented to Business Edge, “Each meeting is attended by between 30 and 50 delegates, but we would like to see a higher proportion of businesses that are actually operating international strategies attend these meetings. International does not just mean companies who export products and services but those who source products and raw materials from outside the uK or have established their own production overseas.” rob continued. “I feel one of the greatest values of the forum is the opportunity for companies considering their first step into international markets to come along and network with those companies who have that knowledge and experience. Everyone shares to the benefit of all. Come along and join us – it’s free.” More detailed information on the Sussex International Trade forum meetings can be found on the Sussex Enterprise website or contact amber allsopp on 0844 371 5405 or amber.allsopp@ sussexenterprise.co.uk.
