September Highlights: A Note from Your Lifestyle Director

As the Texas sun cooled and September settled in, our community came alive with laughter, music, and togetherness. Every week offered a chance to connect, try something new, and celebrate life at Del Webb Fulshear.

Grandparents GONE WILD

Grandparents Day was bigger and wilder than ever! Outdoors on the clubhouse lawn, residents and their families enjoyed frisbee art, airbrush tattoos, chicken & waffles, and a lively petting zoo featuring an alpaca, wallaby, tortoise, rabbit, and goats. It was a day of smiles across generations — proof that grandparents truly know how to have fun!

“Age is just a number when you’re surrounded by family, laughter, and a few furry friends.”

New Additions to the Calendar

September also brought exciting firsts for our lifestyle programming: Trivia Night tested our knowledge and sparked friendly rivalries; Singo Music Bingo had everyone humming and singing along to their favorite hits; and Newbie Neighbor Night introduced our newest residents with a fun “speed friending” twist, making it easier than ever to connect and feel at home

A Month Full of Favorites

Of course, our community staples never disappoint. Win-Go Bingo kept the energy high, with laughter echoing through the clubhouse as numbers were called. Together, these gatherings built bonds and gave us all reasons to celebrate the everyday moments.

Looking Ahead: October Fun

October is shaping up to be a can’t-miss month at Del Webb Fulshear! Mark your calendars for: National Night Out, Oktoberfest, Lakeside Live featuring Escape: A Tribute to Journey, and the Halloween MONSTER MASH BASH costume party & dance.

A Note of Gratitude

As your Lifestyle Director, I am grateful every day for the enthusiasm you bring to our events. Your laughter, participation, and support are what make Del Webb Fulshear a truly extraordinary place to live. Thank you for making September unforgettable — here’s to even more memories this fall.

Make a Splash: Water Volleyball

Did You Know? There’s Water Volleyball! Make a splash every Thursday from 4–6 PM in the Indoor Pool with WATER VOLLEYBALL! This isn’t your average workout—it’s laughter, teamwork, and a little friendly competition all rolled into one. No experience needed, just bring your swimsuit, a water bottle, and your sense of fun. Whether you want to jump in and play or just cheer on your neighbors, you’ll leave smiling.

When: Thursdays, 4:00–6:00 PM Where: Indoor Pool (Clubhouse) Who: All residents—beginners welcome

LAKESIDE LIVE: Music, Memories & Community

This fall, Del Webb Fulshear introduced Lakeside LIVE, a brand-new outdoor concert series designed to bring neighbors together through the joy of live music. With two unforgettable shows already in the books, it’s clear this program is here to stay!

Our August kickoff with The FAB 5 had the crowd twisting, shouting, and singing along to timeless Beatles hits. Then in September, the Texas Eagles soared across the stage, delivering spot-on renditions of classic rock favorites that had residents dancing under the stars. These concerts aren’t just about the music — they’re about connection. Whether you’re enjoying the show with friends, dancing with your neighbors, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, Lakeside LIVE is a celebration of community.

A special thank you goes to our sponsors and to Off the Wall Catering for keeping the crowd fueled with delicious bites. Your support makes events like this possible!

And don’t forget: Lakeside LIVE T-shirts are now available at the front desk. Show your concert pride with a shirt for just $15 (or $12 for season pass holders).

Stay tuned — the music continues, and so do the memories. We’ll see you at the next Lakeside LIVE!

Pickleball at ulshear

If you’ve ever strolled past the courts in the earl morning, chances are you’ve heard the laughter, cheers, and the distinct pop of a pickleball rally in full swing. Since July 2023, the Pickleball group has been one of the fastest-growing and most energetic activities at Del Webb Fulshear—bringing neighbors together through fun, fitness, and friendship.

A Typical Week on the Courts

During the summer months, play kicks off bright and early at 6:30 a.m. (to beat the Texas heat!), while the rest of the year welcomes players at a 7:00 a.m . start. The group thrives on open play, offering residents plenty of chances to jump in, regardless of their skill level. For beginners, Pickleball 101 ha s been a popular Tuesday evening option, where residents can learn the basics in a fun, noncompetitive setting. Thanks to instructors Karen Payavla and Steve Jackson, new players have felt encouraged to pick up a paddle and join the fun.

Looking ahead, residents can expect more opportunities like tournaments and clinics to keep the momentum going. In fact, the group already hosted a successful inter-community tournament with Del Webb Sweetgrass, fostering new friendships and some healthy competition.

More Than Just a Game

Pickleball here isn’t just about chasing points—it’ s about building connections. Many lasting friendship s have begun on the courts, and the camaraderie is as much a highlight as the exercise itself. Players ar e known to cheer each other on, share laughs, and even hand out some pretty memorable nicknames.

Among the crew, you’ll find the Twisted Sisters (Ki m Howard & Karen Payavla), Dimitry “The Vulture” Payavla, Big John Thompson, Larry “Argh” Dick, Terri “Bounce It” Beck, Big Mike McDonough, Little Mike Banks, Steve “Crobar” Crowe, Chris “I Can Get Everything” Crowe, Lisa “The Wall” Royce, and Steve “Poacher” Jackson. With names like these, it’ s no surprise the group is as entertaining off the court as they are on it!

Meet t e New Faces at t e Front Des Meet the New Faces at the Front Desk

There are two new friendly faces waiting to greet you at the Del Webb Fulshear clubhouse! We’re thrilled to welcome Adrianna Perez and Miranda Skopik to the front desk team. Both bring unique backgrounds, vibrant personalities, and a shared excitement for becoming part of our connected and caring community.

Adrianna Perez – Morning Shifts (M–F)

Born and raised in Houston, Adrianna describes herself as a true “morning person,” fueled by coffee and her love of a beautiful sunrise. A creative at heart, she enjoys all things art—whether it’s exploring museums or working on her

own pieces—and she has a passion for astrology and travel (with Japan at the top of her must-see list). Adrianna’s comfort food is a big bowl of pho, and if you catch her on karaoke night, she might surprise you with a Paramore or Ariana Grande tune.

At the front desk, Adrianna loves the chance to get to know residents more and more each day. She’s already noticed how welcoming and caring the community is and says the best part of her role is being able to brighten someone’s day with a smile and helpful hand. Her three instant mood-boosters? Coffee, a gorgeous sunset, and time with loved ones.

Stop

By and Say Hello

Miranda Skopik – Afternoon Shifts (M–F)

A Katy native, Miranda recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a degree in 2D Animation. She’s already channeling her talents into an indie animation studio she co-founded with friends. Outside of work, Miranda enjoys biking to music, painting

her nails in bright new colors, and rewatching her favorite animated show, Bob’s Burgers. She also loves pho—especially the chicken pho at a local favorite, Pho Saigon.

Since joining the team, Miranda has enjoyed talking with residents and seeing the excitement they share about lifestyle events and activities. One of her favorite moments so far was watching the Fab 5 take the stage in wigs and costumes at Lakeside LIVE. She describes Fulshear residents as truly “caring” and says she looks forward to building more connections at the front desk.

Both Adrianna and Miranda bring energy, creativity, and warmth to the clubhouse. Whether you’re checking in for an event, asking a question, or just passing through, they’re here to make your visit easy and enjoyable. Be sure to stop by, introduce yourself, and welcome them to the Del Webb Fulshear family—they can’t wait to get to know you!

PULTE Construction vs. DWF Residents Putting Challenge PULTE Construction vs. DWF Residents Putting Challenge

What happens when you mix a sunny afternoon, a putting green, and a little bit of friendly competition? You get the first-ever PULTE Construction vs. DWF Residents Putting Challenge—an event that brought out big smiles, loud cheers, and a true sense of community spirit.

The atmosphere was electric as residents gathered alongside the PULTE team for a showdown that was equal parts skill and fun. Putters were steady, golf balls rolled true, and the green was alive with energy as neighbors and builders went head-to-head in a spirited contest. For many, it wasn’t just about the perfect putt—it was about sharing laughs, enjoying the outdoors, and experiencing the unique camaraderie that defines Del Webb Fulshear.

This special event was organized in collaboration with Al Peynado, whose efforts helped bring the competition to life. And while every participant brought their best game, four residents stood out as the afternoon’s champions, earning well-deserved bragging rights and a spot in the winners’ circle.

Of course, no competition is complete without prizes, and this event did not disappoint. A heartfelt thank-you goes to IGLOO for their fantastic prize donations, sponsored by DWF resident Kevin Mingus of IGLOO. Their generosity added an extra layer of excitement and made victory even sweeter for our winners.

But the real win? The way this event brought people together. From competitors on the green to neighbors cheering from the sidelines, the Putting Challenge reminded us all that Del Webb Fulshear is about more than just beautiful homes—it’s about building connections, celebrating life’s little moments, and creating memories with friends old and new.

So whether you’re already a seasoned golfer or just enjoy a casual round, keep practicing that short game—you never know when the next challenge might roll around!
