Hundreds of miles of biking and walking trails connect St. Louis Park and Golden Valley to downtown Minneapolis, the chain of lakes and surrounding Western suburbs. St. Louis Park offers a 20,000 square foot aquatic park, multiple ice skating rinks, baseball fields, sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, fishing, private rental spaces and walking trails. Brookview Golf Course and Lawn Bowling offers active outdoor activities spring, summer and fall. Brookview also offers a variety of winter recreation options including: fat tire biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and skijoring.

Heed the call of the wild. Westwood Hills Nature Center’s trails come alive with critters, waterfowl and foliage. In summer, Westwood Lake can be explored by canoe or try your hand at fishing from one of the docks. In winter, snowshoes and kick sleds are available for rent. The Nature Center’s naturalists host interactive classes throughout the year. The Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley is home to exhibits that provide up-close experiences with animals and their habitats, introducing guests to species from around the globe. Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul houses animals and plants from around the world in a metropolitan setting. Sea Life Aquarium at Mall of America gives visitors a glimpse at over 10,000 creatures in their underwater home.
