ZERA COFFEE
Ze-ra - ערז is a Hebrew Word that is usually translated into English as Seed
Zera Coffee is a coffee shop located in the heart of downtown Denton, just off the Denton Square and offers many different types of coffee and frappe’s along with handheld breakfast and lunch items. Zera participates in the Denton Freedom House Program which offers residential programs for men & women. All profits from Zera go to support, and run, Denton Freedom House, a men and women’s residential program built on the hope of freedom from brokenness through community, love, service, and truth.
Zera began in 2009 and is run by Denton Freedom House and gives the residents a place to work, gives the community a place to study and meet and offers a church service every Sunday. When it first opened, Zera began as a furniture restoration business for the residents of the home. The Residents would do woodworking and rehab on the furniture then resale the items with all of the proceeds going back into the home. One day they decided to put drip coffee out, people started coming in drinking the coffee and sitting on the furniture, that’s when they knew it needed to change into a coffee shop. From its humble beginnings in 2009 to the beautiful coffee shop it is today, the building offers lots of space and can be rented out for events. From their artisan roasted coffees, fine teas, bagels and sandwiches, live music, free WiFi and event space, there is something for everyone! Be sure to join them the first Tuesday of every month for their free community luncheon where you can learn all about them, Denton Freedom House and all of the services they offer.
