For twenty one year old Kassady Vandagriff, it seemed the odds were stacked against her from the very beginning, but as Kassady would say, it is all about perspective and choosing to persevere through all the challenges thrown her way. Starting a business at the age of nineteen is daunting enough but add in the unexpected challenges of Covid and the worldwide shutdown, and it’s enough to make the most seasoned business owner throw in the towel. Kassady’s love of hair came from growing up watching her biggest inspiration, her “Gran” (Grandma Reba Howard) do hair at her in home hair salon. Reba ran a hair salon out of her Pilot Point home for around thirty-five years before retiring, so when it came to Kassady choosing a profession, she knew she wanted to follow in her 22

grandma’s footsteps. When speaking about her grandma, her entire face lights up with pure joy, “She is my rock, my best friend and biggest inspiration.” Graduating high school in March of 2020 during the height of the COVID pandemic, she was not sure how she was going to be able to navigate Cosmetology school. Luckily, the school did not shut down and she was able to start in August of 2020 and graduate in August of 2021 and began her career in December of 2021. “I never thought I would be where I am at twenty one years old. If you would have told me two years ago that I would be here today,
