Introduction

Welcome to Your April Issue. Inside Highlights

In this month’s edition, we’ve got a whole range of community, club and charity news from Whittlesey and the surrounding area. We’re incredibly proud of the fact that, as of this month, the magazine will reach even more local people, as we extend our circulation to more of our surrounding villages – hello, residents of Turves and Benwick!

I was intrigued to hear about a memorial taking place at Coates next month, dedicated to the memories of several servicemen killed in a place crash over Benwick, over seventy years ago. WW2 historian Darren Bond, told me about the tragic events and about the memorial – the culmination of over two years’ hard work and research. It’s a poignant but fascinating story, that you can read about in this month’s Community Matters section.

With Easter just a few weeks away, I’m sure you’re all looking forward to a little break. This month’s What’s On page is absolutely packed with local gigs and events, so if you’re looking for an exciting night out or a fun activity for the kids over the Easter holiday, be sure to take a look. There’s an update from local charity NGNPUK, who we last heard from in December, and you can find out how to help in the community by being a “Good Neighbour”. We also have news from the local primary schools, and Mrs Cathy Carlisle, Head at Alderman Jacobs, answers the questions in the Hot Seat. Enjoy!
