Welcome to your October issue...

It is always such an encouraging and welcome sign, whenever you’re faced with personal sadness, that friends and work colleagues gather round and offer their heartfelt support. So it was at the end of August when my sister Paula and I lost our dear father. A business like this relies so heavily on the editorial and sales team, the contributors and advertisers all pulling together and ensuring that the final copy is as appealing and informative as possible. My sincere thanks go to everyone who helped in any way to make that happen.
So, that was one heck of a summer and, this being our unpredictable British weather, we’re already debating whether or not it’s time for the heating to go on! Never mind, why not snuggle up with a cuppa and your “favourite freebie” and just let the wind and rain make us realise it’s now autumn, and our clocks go back on October 26th?

Not being one of those people who shies away from using the “C” word before early December, I realised today, (mid-September) that I’m not alone. Five-year-old granddaughter, Nancy announces to myself and her sister, Violet, “Did you know it’s only a hundred days till Christmas?” And there we all were, basking in autumn sunshine, reminiscing about our hottest summer yet, and bam … “out of the mouths of babes …!”
Still, much can happen in the next three months, like start saving up, as the pre-Christmas extravaganza is about to take off!
And finally:
✦ My wife asked me if I could clear the table after our Sunday dinner. I said, “I think so, but I’ll need a good run-up”.
✦ If a pig loses its voice, does it become disgruntled?
Enjoy the read!

As the snowflakes fall, and with romance in the air, will Annie see that the one she loves to hate might be her perfect match after all?

The Secret of Secrets
BY DAN BROWN
Accompanying academic, Katherine Solomon, to a lecture she’s been invited to give in Prague, Robert Langdon’s world spirals out of control when she disappears without trace.

Prague is an old and dangerous city, steeped in folklore and mystery. Little can Langdon know that he is being stalked by a spectre from the past. He must use all his arcane knowledge to decipher the world around him before he too is consumed by the rings of treachery and deception that have swallowed Katherine. Langdon must navigate a shadow city hiding in plain sight, a city which has kept its secrets for centuries and will not readily deliver them.

Impossible Creatures: The Poisoned King
BY KATHERINE RUNDELL
When Christopher Forrester is unexpectedly woken by a miniature dragon chewing on his face, his heart leaps for joy. For months he’s dreamed of returning to the Archipelago – the secret islands where all the creatures of myth still
live. But he did not know it would involve a rescue mission on the back of a sphinx, or a plan to enter a dragon’s lair.
Nor did he imagine it would involve a girl with a flock of birds at her side, a new-hatched chick in her pocket and a ravenous hunger for justice...

Preparing the Elderly for the Winter
As we get older, our bodies respond differently to the cold which can leave us more susceptible to serious health problems. But with a little preparation, and by following some simple suggestions, you can stay healthy this winter.
Cold temperatures can raise blood pressure and increase the risk of flu and other lung-related problems. Our blood pressure takes longer to return to normal, and this can put you at greater risk of a heart attack or stroke. That’s why it’s so important to look after yourself in the winter.
1
Keep moving. Look for ways to keep active. Get up and walk around, make yourself a warm drink and spread any chores throughout the day.
2
Eat and drink well. Eat at least one hot meal each day and have hot drinks throughout the day. Include a good range of foods in your diet and aim for five portions of fruit and vegetables each day. Keep basic food items in the cupboard or freezer in case it’s too cold to go shopping.
4
3
Have a flu jab every year. The flu is not only unpleasant, it can also develop into something more serious, such as pneumonia. You can get a free flu jab from your GP and some pharmacies if: you’re 65 or over; you receive Carer’s Allowance, or you are the carer of a person whose welfare will be affected if you become unwell; you have a long-term health condition – such as diabetes, a heart condition, asthma or lung disease, a kidney or liver problem, Parkinson’s, or if you have had a stroke; you are living in a long-stay residential care home.
Check you've had the 'pneumo' jab. The ‘pneumo’ (or pneumococcal) jab is a one-off jab that helps protect you against pneumonia, meningitis and septicaemia. If you’re over 65 and haven’t had one, ask your GP.
6

5
Keep your hands clean. Good hand hygiene is the simplest way to avoid getting colds or flu and stop it spreading to other people. Wash your hands regularly with soap and warm water or use alcohol-based gel or wipes. Make sure to clean surfaces you are in contact with regularly, like your telephone, door handles and keyboard as germs can live on them.

Protect yourself from chilblains. Chilblains are itchy red swellings that occur when your skin gets cold and you try to warm up too quickly, often by sitting close to a radiator or other heating, so keeping warm can help prevent them. If you experience these, dab the swellings with calamine or witch hazel to reduce itching, but don’t scratch them as this could cause an infection.

Ultimate Modelling Products:
Bourne’s “Hidden Gem”
A new shop catering for model makers has recently opened in Bourne, but you’d be hard pushed to stumble across it, located as it is behind George’s Fish and Chip Shop on Cherry Holt Road! “Hidden” it might be but its owner, Lee Larholt assures me that, according to many enthusiastic modellers who have already made their way there, it can be described as a true “gem”.
So how can a shop appear and suddenly “take off” when there are no obvious signs that it’s there? The answer lies in the fact that since the summer of 2013, a small family-run modelling company, Ultimate Modelling Products (UMP) has been providing a much sought after service and enormous product range, formulated and designed specifically with the modern scale modeller in mind. The internet has provided the wherewithal for this very successful business to prosper.
Until now, Lee, his wife Kate and son Josh (soon to be joining the RAF) have developed the company’s profile on a national and international level, with many of UMP’s sales travelling to overseas destinations, far from their Thurlby home.
Ultimate Modelling Products (UMP) are highly regarded for their excellent quality and reliability, making them a favourite among modellers. Their range includes tools, paints, weathering products, and accessories designed to enhance the modelling experience. They are known for their

precision, ease of use and durability, allowing users to achieve professional-level results with minimum effort. Overall, UMP products help users elevate their craft while providing value for money and dependable performance.
The website, www.umpretail.com is an absolute treasure trove of the vast range of modelling paraphernalia they can supply, along with a massive Warhammer stock and any number of model kits (far, far more than just the Airfix Spitfires and Lancasters of my youth!)
Lee, Kate and Josh saw an opportunity to create not just a retail outlet but also a venue for modellers to work on their particular projects, share with others their enthusiasm in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, and enjoy a free tea or coffee along the way! They see their venture as a “drop-in modelling centre” where 1:1 airbrush lessons, tips and “tricks of the trade” are readily offered. Disabled access, ample car parking and toilet facilities are available.

Bourne Lions Fun Day Raises Funds for Local Community

Bourne Lions held their annual Fun Day on Sunday September 7th on the Recreation Ground in Bourne. The day saw over thirty stalls and caterers, joined by a funfair and amusements, together with a dog show. Entertainment was provided throughout the day, with dancing displays in the arena and music provided by local bands and musicians.

The event was supported by hundreds of people from Bourne and the surrounding villages, and was opened by the club’s president, Chris Chudley, who subsequently welcomed Bourne Mayor, Colin Pattison. The weather was kind, but not kind enough to allow the planned BBMF Lancaster fly-past, which was thwarted by adverse wind conditions.
Nevertheless, the event was a success and raised funds that can be ploughed back into the community when vital needs arise. The club is truly appreciative to everyone who made the day such a success.

Wines: Nastl –
Austria has a wine producing history dating back many centuries. Numerous people have found the delights of Austrian wines whilst holidaying there, maybe perhaps visiting or working in Austria. I searched for an Austrian company that offers an excellent range of quality wines – be it someone’s preference for red, white, sparkling or a ‘pink’ one.
Weingut Nastl is a major producer of wines, including many awardwinning productions and is located in the Kamptal region of Austria, with the winery being situated in Langenlois. Nastl winemaking has a history from 1656 and today, the company very much participates in the reductions of interventions, to produce affordable, outstanding wines, with quality and attractive presentations. Gravity is utilised to a great advantage in their winemaking process, furthering reduced interventions.
Nastl Muskateller (12.5% vol) is produced with grapes that have grown on vines which have their vine ancestors dating from ancient times. The vines from this varietal have had a lot of increased plantings in recent
As always, enjoy!

years. This white wine is very popular for pre-dining and at the commencement of meals.
Nastl Riesling (10% vol) is a further, often selected, white production. Good aromas of stone fruits and an extended finish on the palate, which is off-dry, attribute to this wine’s popularity.
Nastl Zweigelt Rosé (12.5% vol) I found fruity, with a hint of floral, for this easy-drinking wine. A good, light body has this firmly in the juicy, pink delectation category.
Nastl VelKam rot (12.5% vol), may I suggest, for a red wine. This dry production balances its fruity overtones throughout, from the bouquet to the palate. An excellent red wine, as a good ‘all-rounder’ which pairs with casseroles and red meats very well.
The Nastl family pride themselves on commitment and dedication, producing delectable wines to a high standard. The traditional Austrian on-site restaurant, plus tastings and tours, are further very popular features of the winery. For all details, information and of other wines too, including stockists, please contact and/or visit their most informative and interesting website. Online ordering is available and easy, with orders being dispatched quickly and efficiently. Email: office@nastl.at www.nastl.at

Control of Your Addiction
You can turn off your desire for an addiction by taking control of your subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is like a child and sometimes needs to be told what to do!
Your brain is constantly changing and adapting, depending on what’s going on in your everyday life and it creates new neural connections. Without treatment, the brain uses neural pathways to trigger emotions, needs, pleasure, and cravings, which feed the addiction.
“Change your triggers”
You could be addicted to smoking, gambling, alcohol, compulsive shopping, sugar, Red Bull, caffeine, food, or even the overuse of gadgets. No matter what your addiction is, when it begins to disrupt your life and
relationships it’s time to take control by changing your thoughts and behaviours.
Some people use an addiction to forget a problem, to mask pain, dampen down emotions or to reduce stress and anxiety. Solution focused hypnotherapy reduces stress and anxiety and looks at the emotions or triggers fuelling the addiction, allowing you greater control over the addiction.
Today, hypnotherapy for addiction is a growing trend. With hypnosis, we aim to get to the root of the problem through hypnotic trance. In this state, your mind is more receptive to suggestions, changing ingrained behavioural patterns and rebuilding your emotional health.
“Take control today”

In recent years, more families have been seeking alternatives to the traditional funeral. One option growing in popularity is direct cremation — a simple, dignified, and affordable way to say goodbye.
At Simple Goodbyes, we offer direct cremations locally unlike some of the national providers advertising in the media, providing the reassurance that your loved one remains in local care.
the crematorium — allowing families to remember their loved one in their own way, at a time and place that feels right. This flexibility can be invaluable, giving you more time to plan a personalised memorial or celebration of life.
For those who wish, we can also arrange an enhanced direct cremation, offering the chance to visit the chapel of rest before the cremation – something many of the
national online providers are unable to offer.
We also offer direct cremation funeral plans, enabling you to arrange and pay for a direct cremation, easing the worry for your family when the time comes.
Whether you choose a simple farewell or a later memorial, our experience ensures a goodbye that is truly your own.

Even More “Seasons of Mist” (and possibly some fog too!)
Last month, I recalled John Keats’s “Ode to Autumn” … perhaps a little early. However, we are now entering the cosy season of warm fires, or at least central heating, and thoughts of tinsel … or just about!
So, what should we be watching out for as the deer wander into our view on local roads? (Wonderful animals but not gifted in the Green Cross Code, or any other code for that matter).
1
Obviously, as the nights darken, we need to take care under the Road Traffic Acts. Take care to adjust to nighttime driving.
2
Check our cars are roadworthy and our insurance is in place.
3Check our heating systems are compliant and safe.
4
Make sure there is both a smoke alarm and carbon monoxide warning alarm installed.
5
Check on elderly relatives and friends.

6
Are our wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney in place, just in case. It can be very difficult without them.
7
Make sure we lock up at night. There are people out and about who are a real threat to our property.
8Check the small print as we think about buying those presents for events to come. Be aware of our rights under The Consumer Rights Act and Supply of Goods and Services Act.
9If there was a ‘flash flood’, do we have a plan? Would we go upstairs, and what would we do to cherished chattels downstairs? Are we close to water?
10If there was a fire, do we know how to get out? Is there another safe way out? Something to rest on?
11
Check our communication systems for any emergency.
12
Make sure our pets are safe especially in the ‘fireworks season’.

Bill Iliffe
Bill and his family, (wife Sue and daughters Paula and Claire) moved to Bourne in 1978. Many of our readers will have got to know Bill through his long association with the Royal Observer Corps or maybe standing at his stall on Bourne Market, having retired from a career in sales.
He lived a very fulfilled life and was cared for towards the end by his loving family and later at Wood Grange Care Home in Bourne, until he sadly passed away on August 25th at the age of eighty-three.
Claire and Paula would like to extend their sincere thanks to all the wonderful staff, carers and nurses, at Wood Grange who showed such love and compassion throughout the whole of their father’s time with them. Thanks also to RJ Scholes Funeral Services of Bourne for their excellent funeral service, conducted perfectly by Caroline Glithero, and held at South Lincolnshire Crematorium on September 8th.
It was a lovely send-off for an amazing father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be sadly missed but never forgotten, as your legacy lives on, Dad!

Charles
The Enduring Legacy
By Ali Ray, Chair, The Aveland History Group www.theavelandhistorygroup.com
During the latter part of the nineteenth, and into the twentieth century, the House of Worth (as it was named after the departure of his former business partner, Otto Bobergh) continued to grow in both stature and reputation. By 1882, he had been joined by his sons, Jean-Philippe and Gaston-Lucien.
No longer did the rich take their chosen material to a back street seamstress; instead, they were transported into a world of artistry and showmanship, in elegant salons made to look like a ‘home from home’, hence the term ‘Fashion House’, where Charles would showcase his fabulous designs.
The Worth label, originally an embroidered facsimile of Charles’s passport signature, had been replaced by the more recognisable House of Worth logo, a trend that still resonates with every “label” today.
Charles’s insistence on creating whole collections for his well-to-do clients enabled the firm to prosper, producing upwards of five thousand garments a year, many packed and sent halfway around the world. His almost production-line creations, bodices made in one workshop and skirts in another, was the start of the eventual move of couturiers towards ready-to-wear designing.
His American clientele, of which he was so fond (apparently, they paid quickly and accepted his design ideas without question!) continued to flock to his Paris Salon. Transatlantic travel had become all the rage

for the rich and wealthy, and Charles and his sons welcomed them with open arms.
Later, Pathe newsreel shows Jean-Philippe standing amongst his salons, directing the numerous models and walking between elegant groups of ladies, just as his father had instigated years previously. The use of “live” models was a completely new phenomenon, but something that has been the lynchpin of every designer’s seasonal fashion collection since.
Jean-Philippe had some ideas of his own. His alliance with the jewellers, Cartier (his daughter married into the family) saw him stitching their jewels directly onto his gowns, a forerunner of the embellished sweaters of today.
But all good things come to an end; success is always copied.
As many other fashion designers appeared, many given a leg-up in the design department of the House of Worth, coupled with the

demise of the ‘Gilded Age’ into the twentieth century, there came an end to the conspicuous extravagance Charles so loved, and in whose world he had been allowed to create art in clothes. Sadly, the House of Worth declined in stature.

The Worth label, originally an embroidered facsimile of Charles’s passport signature, had been replaced by the more recognisable House of Worth logo, a trend that still resonates with every “label” today.

A late portrait photograph of Charles, taken only three years before his death, shows a man whose eye for fashion remained undimmed. He sits in a Rembrandt-like pose, with the dignity one would expect from so important a personage. Did this local boy really change our world? The answer from the fashion industry of today must be an emphatic “YES!
Bourne has plans to come together to celebrate the Bicentenary of the Birth of this Local Hero on October 11th and 12th, 2025. There is a Fashion Extravaganza, planned for the whole weekend throughout the town, with talks, activities, exhibitions, crafting, fashion shows and performances.
The Aveland History Group will be taking over the Red Hall for “all things CFW”. Look out for more details on the Worth200 Facebook page.

By Eileen Le Voi at Safe Local Trades
As the nights pull in, make sure your elderly neighbours aren’t left in the dark as Hallowe’en arrives this month. Recently, we have seen growing numbers of older children and teenagers “trick or treating” – an activity usually reserved for younger children keen to show off their costumes and outfits.
But with teenagers knocking on doors, often later than many people would like, sometimes wearing creepy masks, how old is too old to “trick or treat”? Well, in the UK there is no legal age limit, meaning that anyone of any age can take part in the Hallowe’en activity. So, with winter on the way, and with the clocks going back at the end of October, we can all get into the habit of keeping an eye on an older friend or neighbour. The winter months can be lonely and isolating for those less mobile; a knock at the door after dark can be frightening, whilst cold callers on the phone can leave the recipient feeling vulnerable. The situation isn’t helped by rogue traders who try to tout for work, often suggesting to the homeowner that a roof or guttering needs repairing before winter sets in. This can lead to people parting with their cash and getting nothing but shoddy work and a huge dent in their savings in return. Doorstep rogue traders have a knack of catching people off guard.
Remember:
• Don’t be talked into something on the spur of the moment.
• Don’t take their word for it when they tell you urgent work or repairs need doing.
• Always ask them politely to leave if you feel uncomfortable with their approach.
If you want to get rid of them but don’t feel confident in asking them to leave, take a leaflet and report it to 101 if you suspect something isn’t quite right.
If you are in the market for roof repairs, gutter cleaning, new fascias etc, always use a professional. No reputable tradesperson will come knocking on your door ‘touting’ for business. Never pay anyone cash at the door, especially when they haven't even conducted any work on your premises.

This month sees jobs that are mainly clearing the plot, ready for the winter months, plenty of digging and manuring.

Harvest or protect any remaining crops that are susceptible to frosts and clear away any remaining debris and place on the compost heap: the larger the quantity, the better as this helps the heap to warm up and accelerates the rotting process. It is advisable to shred or pulverise thick, woody stems such as sweetcorn, beans and brassicas so that they decompose more quickly. Do not put any diseased foliage on the compost heap, burn or discard it.

• Protect cauliflowers by bending a leaf over the curd.

• Finish pruning blackberries and raspberries.
• Keep removing yellow leaves from brassicas – leaving them on the ground risks spreading grey mould.
• If you have pumpkins or squashes cut and leave them to dry in the sun, which will harden the skins and improve their shelf-life.
• If you have not already done so earth up, or stake (or both) Brussels sprouts and sprouting broccoli plants.

Crops that can be sown this month are:
• Japanese over-wintering onion sets.

• Last chance to transplant spring cabbages – be sure to net them to prevent pigeons eating the young leaves.
• Plant garlic.
• Broad beans – early varieties should overwinter.
• Sow a pot of basil seeds and put in a propagator or on a warm windowsill, keeping the soil moist. Parsley and mint can be dug up from an established clump, put in a pot and kept on the windowsill – much cheaper than the supermarket!
Other jobs for this month include:

• Continue to earth up celery and leeks.
• Check the condition of last year’s fleece, cloches and winter protection so that you can plan for any cold spells that may be imminent.
• Potatoes should all be harvested now and stored in paper or jute sacks in a dark, dry, frost-free environment.
• Pick the unripe tomatoes and put a few in a bag with a ripe banana – this gives off ethylene gas which speeds ripening.
• Cut back asparagus and artichoke foliage and compost.
• Remove runner bean canes: if left in the ground they will easily rot.
• Clear the tops from your spent beans, peas and sweetcorn plants. If you cut the long stems at the base and lay them on the soil, they act as a weed suppressing mulch. Add them to the compost when they turn from green to brown.
• October is a good month for cleaning the greenhouse; ridding it of pests and airing it before thinking about heat and insulation that may be required over winter.

Happy gardening!

• Divide large, oversized crowns of rhubarb: if established plants are left indefinitely, they do eventually produce less each year. Cut up and divide the crowns into good sized pieces, making sure each has signs of dormant buds.

Household and utilities bills are rocketing, so now is the time to consider insulation as the answer to inflation! According to the Energy Saving Trust in an uninsulated home up to 25% of heat is lost through the roof space! We can supply and install insulation to save your pocket and the planet – and you’ll be surprised how cost-effective our solutions are.

Tilly is going to spend her £50 when she attends the 2026 Artistic Gymnastics British Championships in Liverpool. She will be going shopping before and will probably buy clothes and make-up.
Discovering Magazines’ Claire Saberton presented Tilly (“the most delightful young lady”) with her winnings and looks forward to hearing about her trip. Good luck Tilly and happy shopping!

Strong summer sales signal a busier autumn
Average monthly price change since 2021

July
August September
MARKET INSIGHTS FROM
The average asking price fell 1.3% this month to £368,740, in line with the usual July-toAugust drop over the past five years.
There was a monthly drop in asking prices across all regions except Wales, where prices held steady. London saw the sharpest fall at -2.6%, followed by Yorkshire and The Humber at -1.9%.
Sellers this summer are pricing realistically to attract holiday-preoccupied buyers, while falling interest rates and plentiful choice mean activity levels are

defying the usual seasonal slowdown, with buyer demand up 11% year on year.
We usually see a busier autumn than summer, as the school year begins and focus shifts back to moving. From 2021-2024, new seller asking prices rose an average of 0.6% between August and September, and strong summer sales suggest momentum will continue.

The Hidden Costs of Appointing a Professional Executor
Irecently worked with a family whose father had passed away, leading to one of the most astonishing situations I’ve ever encountered. Their dad believed he’d done the right thing by making a will. But he’d appointed the directors of a company as his executors. His daughters felt they could manage things themselves and asked the firm to step aside. They refused.
Once a professional is named in a will, they’re under no obligation to step aside, even if the family wants to take over. I’ve seen grieving families feel powerless as a stranger manages their loved one’s estate, with limited transparency or flexibility.
The daughters turned to me. I contacted the firm, who said they would only step aside if paid. Most firms charge between £500 and £800 for this. This man wanted over £6,000! We negotiated, threatened court action, even mentioned Trading Standards. He didn’t care. He said if he administered the estate, he’d charge £30,000. He even demanded the money up front. He threatened to report me to the police for obstruction of justice.
I reached out to my network. It turns out the firm have a reputation, hold families to ransom, have a barrister on standby, and are highly litigious. Despite everything we tried, the family eventually felt they had no option but to pay.
Now, this case is extreme. I’ve never seen anything like it in twenty years. The most I’ve previously seen charged to step aside was

NICK ASH, Managing Director W&P Legal

£1,200. But it highlights a serious issue. Appointing a professional executor can be like writing a blank cheque. They can charge what they like, and there’s often little that beneficiaries can do about it.
So, what should you do?
Review your will. Make sure you haven’t appointed a professional to act alone. If you have, then update your will. That’s not to say professional executors don’t have a place; they do, especially in complex estates or difficult family situations. But it should be a conscious, informed decision, not something casually suggested or added by default. Where possible, the professional should always be appointed alongside family or friends.
The Bottom Line: If your advisor insists on being your executor, or names their firm by default walk away. Find a real professional who cares. If you’re unsure or think you might be affected, call us on 01778 252301- we’re here to help.

Words from the Mayor
Councillor Colin Pattison
Last month, we were incredibly busy with so many kind invitations.
Fiona and I were delighted to attend the Cedars Care Home and their “Give a Gift Day”. Huge thanks and a “well done” to Sarah-Jane Knight for organising the event and to Lisa Ferris and all the staff who do such an incredible job.
The same weekend we also attended the VJ 80 Day Celebrations at the Elsea Park Community Centre. Thank you to Emily Giddings, the Royal British Legion, and all those involved in putting on such a fantastic event.
It was also a great pleasure to attend the Bourne Lions Club Annual Family Fun Day on the Recreation Ground. This really is a marvellous event for all ages. Special mentions go to Daryn Wright, David Kaye, Kevin Brown and, of course, club president Chris Chudley for making us feel so welcome.

I was also thrilled to meet Ade Smith from “Bourne Community Radio”. We had a great time talking about music, the Mayor’s Charity Fundraising Walk, along with the reasons for my two chosen charities. Thank you, Ade for a wonderful time.
Next up, and to the Red Hall to join the Bourne Wheelers Cycling Club to celebrate their ninetieth birthday. What a great event this was, with such a diverse range of age groups from the very young to the older veterans! Thank you for including us in your celebrations and for the fantastic cake in the style of a bicycle.

Sunday September 14th saw my Civic Church Service at our beautiful Bourne Abbey Church; a truly lovely service lead by Father Stephen and ably assisted by the Curate, Father Issac. Thank you to all those who attended and to the helpers and the refreshments in the Church Hall afterwards.
And finally, by the time you will have read this article, I will have (hopefully!!!) completed the small matter of a thirty-two mile walk for my chosen charities, Don’t Lose Hope and the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance Service. Donations can still be made in cash or cheque form via the Town Council office or directly to myself. I will keep my ‘GoFundMe’ page open for some time afterwards too.

Please get behind Dom and me and make a difference for “Hope and Helicopters”!
Regards and for the love of Bourne, Colin

Feline Fantastic: Care Home Residents Celebrate ‘Purr-fect’ International Cat Day
Staff and residents at Wood Grange Care Home got up close and personal with some furry friends when they celebrated International Cat Day on August 8th.
Residents had a brilliant time learning about different breeds and their characteristics, reminiscing about pets, and finding out fascinating facts about cats and kittens. Staff and residents welcomed Simon, Beauty-Boots and Angelina from Michelle’s Pet Party to join them for the morning.
General Manager, Katya Petrova, said, “Our residents love animals and lots of them have owned cats in the past, so it was lovely to hear their stories.”
Rose, a resident, added, “I have always had a soft spot for cats; I just love how adventurous and inquisitive they are. We have had such a nice day remembering all the cats we have known and loved. They are all such characters.”
A Musical Treat Coming Our Way
Rehearsals are well underway for College Players’ production of “Betty Blue Eyes”, a very British musical comedy. With a cast of almost thirty performers, the youngest being just eight, and a live band, the group are loving getting to know this musical.

It’s 1947, Britain may have won the war, but austerity is biting hard, ration coupons are still in use and there are definitely not “fair shares for all”. In a small Yorkshire town, select locals are determined to celebrate the Royal Wedding with a banquet. A very Private Function…
This nostalgic musical will have you giggling, tapping your toes and wondering why you’ve never seen it before. You might even fall just a little bit in love …with a pig called Betty Blue Eyes! Based on Alan Bennett’s 1984 film, “A Private Function”.

Yes you can! Many landlords believe that to change agents you must wait until the end of an existing tenancy, which is not the case.

A Tenancy Agreement is a contract between the Landlord and the Tenant, and changing agent does not affect the legal rights of either.
If your letting agent is not delivering, give them written notice that you would like to leave, and we’ll take it from there.
