>> The role of banks in the development of Africa-Asia trade

hen, Attijariwafa Bank CEO, Mr. Omar Bounjou, took the floor to present to the audience his views on this subject, taking as an example the case of the group towards China. Firstly, Mr. Bounjou has established the evolution of trade with Asian countries witnessing an increasing growth in the last five years. On the other hand, Mr. Bounjou has presented a decade of African development of his group counting today some 16,000 employees in more than 3000 branches in 14 African countries, mainly in West Africa and Central Africa. Mr. Bounjou then explained the joining together of his group with the Bank of China revolving around four areas: hosting and assistance to customer operators of the two banks in international trade; origination, advice, support and funding of investment projects; organization of B-toB missions and accompanying Chinese expatriates in Africa and Africans in China. At the end of his presentation, and before answering questions of the debate, Mr. Bounjou expanded on the different stages of the international supply chain and the role of strategic support that the bank can offer.
