ialogue Diplomatica: La Jordanie a toujours été vue comme un îlot de calme dans une région tourmentée. Comment se passent les relations entre musulmans sunnites et chiites en Jordanie ? SAR le Prince El-Hassan Bin Talal: Nous considérons les Chiites comme des musulmans à part entière. L’Islam compte quatre grandes écoles de jurisprudence: l’école malékite, plus suivie dans le Maghreb et en Afrique de l’Ouest; l’école hanafite, qui s’impose en Egypte notamment; l’école chafiite, et enfin, l’école hanbalite, qu’on retrouve notamment dans la péninsule arabique. Mais, il y a de cela dix ans, le Congrès islamique de la Mecque a mentionné d’autres écoles, à savoir l’école Jaafarie, qui est suivie en Iran et en Inde; l’école zaydite, dans le nord du Yémen (on parle surtout des Houthi), et enfincdes Ibadis, présents notamment dans le Sultanat d’Oman et même en Afrique du Nord, surtout en Algérie. Dans le christianisme aussi, vous avez des catholiques et des protestants. En Israël, un grand pourcentage de la population est d’origine arabe et chrétienne. Ont-ils les mêmes droits que les autres minorités résidant dans certains pays démocratiques? En un mot, il faut retenir que chaque musulman qui prie en direction de la Mecque a sa place en Islam. Je pense que nous devons vraiment dépasser ces clivages entre Sunnites et Chiites.

Diplomatica: Jordan has always been seen as an island of calm in a troubled region. How are the relations between Sunni and Shiite Muslims in Jordan? HRH Prince El-Hassan Bin Talal: We consider the Shiites as Muslims in their own right. Islam has four main schools of jurisprudence: the Maliki School, more followed in the North Africa and West Africa, the Hanafi School, which is followed especially in Egypt; the Shafii School, and finally, the Hanbali School, found especially in the Arabian Peninsula. But a decade ago, the Islamic Congress of Mecca mentioned other schools, namely the Jaafari School, which is followed by Iran and India; the Zaydi School in northern Yemen ( mostly Houthi), and finally the Ibadis, present especially in the Sultanate of Oman and even in North Africa, especially in Algeria. In Christianity also, there are Catholics and Protestants. In Israel, a large percentage of the population is Arab and Christian. Do they have the same rights as other minorities living in some democratic countries? In short, we must remember that every Muslim who prays towards Mecca has his place in Islam.
