Title:- Chain Drive | Definitions , Types, Advantages and Disadvantages What is chain drive? Before going to chain drive we first understand “What is mean by Chain?” A chain can be defined as a series of links connected by pin joints. The chain drive consists of an endless chain that wraps around two sprockets.

Advantages of Chain Drive:          

Available for long and short range. Drive on multiple axes and a single chain Small in size, small in total. There is no risk of fire. The temperature and environmental conditions do not affect the operation. No initial tension is needed. The efficiency is very high (up to 96%). Do not slip Installation is easier It can withstand difficult conditions They can work in wet conditions.

Disadvantages of Chain Drive:Some disadvantages of chain transmissions compared to gear and belt transmissions are:       

Requires precise alignment compared to belt drive Frequent lubrication is required Less load capacity compared to gears. Its operation is noisy and can cause vibrations. Not suitable for axes that are not parallel. Cannot be used where precise movement is required They need housing It should fit loosely, like a tensioner.
