Opportunities to share faith come in many forms, some unexpected

In his apostolic exhortation “Evangelii Gaudium” (“The Joy of the Gospel”), Pope Francis wrote, “Every Christian is challenged, here and now, to be actively engaged in evangelization; indeed, anyone who has truly experienced God’s saving love does not need much time or lengthy training to go out and proclaim that love.” Through Baptism, we are called to share Jesus Christ with every person we meet, and to evangelize with our daily lives. Each of us has been given different gifts and talents with which to do this. The following three stories highlight evangelization efforts in the Diocese of Crookston. From the

Young men attend Diocese of Crookston’s vocation camp

from around the Diocese of Crookston gathered with a few diocesan priests and seminarians at Sand Hill Lake Bible Camp near Fosston, from August 3-5. It was the fifth annual camp organized by the Diocese of Crookston’s Office of Vocations. At the beginning of Mass,
Bishop Hoeppner thanked the men for attending, and encouraged them to be at peace and spend their time there listening for God’s voice and strengthening their friendship with him. He also asked them to, “Think about what you and Jesus, … as you journey together, might do down the road.”

Esto Vir is latin for “be a man.” The goal of the vocations camp is to encourage young men to grow in their relationship with Christ and seek to be authentic Christian men. The hope is that by pursing this, young men will be more open to a call to the priesthood. Nate Brunn, a seminarian
for the Diocese of Crookston, helped organize this year’s camp. He said the point of Esto Vir is, “to allow young men who are open to the possibility of the priesthood to gather in community, to intentionally pray for their own voESTO VIR: Continued on Page 3
