Create@Jalan Besar is an integrated active aging and youth hub based along the Rochor River in Jalan Besar. Situated close to Lavender MRT, the main aim of the community center is to generate chance encounters and create authentic connections between its local elderly residents and the youths visiting their area for their duties.

Through its core Makers and Crafting style of activities, Create@Jalan Besar aims to foster meanginful relationships between its visitors, and to spark curosity and learn more about the production and manufacturing history of Jalan Besar.

Create@Jalan Besar boasts extensive atriums and double volumed spaces, with circulatory paths running around the perimeter. Aiming to create prominent visually connecting and opportunities for spillover spaces.

Create@Jalan Besar was founded on the concept of a DNA strand. Taking inspiration from the crossing nature of relationships between the youths and elderlies. The creation of strong bonds through the varying age groups is best exemplified within the main central makers space. Where users can work on projects with each other.

Being volunteership driven, Create aims to promote a circular system of giving back to one’s community, and being actively driven to take initiative for the same cause.

Ultimately Create has an aim to ensure intergenrational relationships would remain ingrained in our DNA - Zechariah 8:4-5
