If working with youngsters is your passion, the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship will equip you to work in primary, secondary and special education across all age ranges encompassing special educational needs and emotional vulnerabilities. As a teaching assistant you would support the class teacher as well as the children to enhance learning and promote self-belief, social inclusion and high self-esteem. Individual employers will determine entry requirements but typically an apprentice might be expected to have already achieved 5 GCSEs, including maths and English, Grade C or above or 4/5 (new grading). Some employers will accept other relevant qualifications and experience, including a relevant Level 2 qualification. The Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship includes eight modules covering everything from understanding how pupils learn and develop through to working with teachers to accurately assess pupils and the use of school computer systems. All aspects of problem solving and how to motivate pupils as well as methods to support their development and keep them safe in education are comprehensively covered in this apprenticeship.
