PLC SLIO– The smart I/O system CPU-Modules with Instruction Set S7-300®/S7-400® by SIEMENS SPEED7 BY VIPA – VERY FAST STEP®7-CPUS An absolute sensation is the possibility to expand CPU-functions also with this VSC-Card. An EthernetPort for PG/OP communication and an MPI-Port is always on Board. PROFIBUS-Slave or PROFIBUS-Master can be activated on demand. You only pay for what you need. Stocking is reduced to 2 types of CPUs. It is very easy and costefficient to transfer data between PROFIBUS and PROFINET. Old and new installations can be connected easily. Preexisting panels, able to commicate via MPI-

Port, are compatible. An Ethernet Port supporting PG/OP-protocoll is onBoard as a standard as well as an RS485-port for PtP-communication with ModbusRTU Master/Slave ASCII, 3964R, USS. All these protocols can be used without any additional costs. All important certifications are also available. The complete STEP®7/S7-300® command set is available. VIPA SLIO CPU

Faster than the similar STEP®7 programable products, VIPA offers SPEED7, the technology of tomorrow, based on a million times proven STEP®7-programming platform. A flexible memory management covers all possible applications from 64kByte to 512kByte. Program and data are stored in a power failsafe NVS-RAM which functions without batteries. A plugable VSC-Card allows con-figuration as well as project and data saving in a PC-compatible format.

PLC SLIO– The smart I/O system Bus Terminals Demand for more compact and flexible automation solutions with reasonable price-performance ratio has been constantly increasing. With the completely new development of the I/O system SLIO®, VIPA is setting a further standard in the automation sector. The VIPA I/O system SLIO combines high functionality with an intelligent mechanical concept with an extremely compact design. SLIO® is a synonym for Slice-I/O. With its very compact design, the system can be set-up „step by step“ to meet exactly the requirements of the application. The Interface Modules (IM) for PROFIBUS-DP, CANopen, PROFINET, EtherCAT and Modbus are supporting up to 64 Electronic Modules (EM). The Power Modules(PM), which are contrasting in colour to Signal Modules (SM) and Function Modules (FM), supply voltage to the Electronic Modules. Decoupled potential groups can be defined if required.

The Electronic Modules are connected to the Terminal ModuleTM using a secure plug-in mechanism. The Terminal Module comprises clamp, connection of Electronic Modules and mechanical bus connector. Therefore in case of maintenance or repair only the Electronic Module will be exchanged by simply pulling it out of the Terminal Module. Wiring and mounting on the 35mm DIN rail will remain unchanged. The staircase-shaped cage clamps on the Terminal Module offer fast, clear and secure wiring. With the integrated state LEDs and the labelling strip on the front an exact state monitoring of channels on the Electronic Module is possible. The new backplane bus system with a transmission rate of 48Mbit/s offers very short response times with a signal processing of less than 20µs. SLIO® is one of the most powerful and cost-effective decentral systems available on the market.

INTERFACE-MODULE (IM) The space-saving Interface-Module represents the interface between process level and bus system. All control signals are transmitted to the Electronic Module through the internal backplane bus.

PLC SLIO– The smart I/O system Bus Terminals – SAFETY THE CONCEPT SAFETY OF VIPA Already with the first considerations for the access in the Safety technology, it was certain for VIPA, that the concept should fit to network with PROFIBUS and PROFINET based on the use of the PROFIsafe protocol. In the first stage of development, the Safety modules are integrated decentralised as Slave Modules into an available network. For VIPA customers this means that the Safety modules can be installed directly without additional bus system in the existing network structure. The modular equipment construction is oriented in the safety requirements which reduces the wiring expenses, the clearness is raised and extensions are possible without big expenses. The VIPA Safety concept allows to merge standard and Safety modules within a station. Also the use of all other safety PLCs is of course possible. The first fail-safe modules in the system SLIO ® will be 4-channel digital Safety-input, module and 4-channel Safety-output modules. The SLIO® system, which nowadays is established in many equipments worldwide as a standard, offers considerable space-saving in the panel, due to its very compact construction form. A new highly competitive backplane concept allows transmission rates of 48 MBit/s which qualifies as a very quick communication of the modules. The mechanical concept with the separation of electronics and wiring module minimises the mounting and maintenance expenses.

PLC SLIO– The smart I/O system Bus Terminals – ETS TIMESTAMP SYSTEM On a SLIO interface module all SLIO slices have the same time base. This time base has a resolution of 1 µs and a synchronism from slice to slice of ± 85 ns. For PROFIBUS DP-V2 (isochronous mode) it is already possible to synchronize the time bases of several SLIO interface modules and each connected slice to a synchronism of ± 5 µs. The underlying synchronization mechanism is field bus

independent and will be available for other bus systems in the future. There are digital input and output modules with order memory (FIFO) available to buffer the signal edges. These terminals are marked with the abbreviation ETS (Edge Timestamp System). SLIO ETS offers a temporal significantly improved exactness at the µs area for all supported field bus systems.

The definition of the task: On a rotating slice an overprint is to be made clearly and distinctly readable. The slice rotates at a speed of up to 5.000 revs. per minute, which corresponds approx. to 12 milliseconds per revolution and so reaches a circumferential speed of 31 meters per second or 31 mm per millisecond respectively. To ensure that the overprint is clearly readable, the slice always has to be illuminated at each revolution at exactly the same position of the rotation, to create the impression of a standing picture.

The solution: Each slice has a mark, which is scanned by a light barrier sensor. The impulse of this sensor is sent to the controller, processed and passed on to an output. This output controls a LED-flash. Only when the controller including the decentral I/O systems succeeds in capturing the impulse from the mark on the slice and controlling the LED exactly at the right time, a stationary and clear picture will be created which can be distinguished by our eyes. Application with a Siemens CPU and ET200S decentral via PROFINET: A counter is used for the determination of the moment when the impulse will occur. This counter is read permanently in a free-running OB1 of the controller. Divergencies/Jitter results from the 250µs PROFINET IRT cycle and the OB1 cycle. Since there is no timebase more exact than 1ms available in this controller. A time base of its own is created internally by the performance of a loop. The setting of the output is created by a direct access to the periphery. So divergency occurs additional in the next 250µs PROFINET cycle. On this version it is clearly visible that the writing on the rotating slice is not readable.

Application with SLIO without the ETS function via PROFIBUS: The cycle time of the PROFIBUS at this compact setup has so big divergencies/jitter, that it is nearly impossible to read the overprint on the slice clearly. It was expected that the PROFINET communication in the application would bring a significant advantage in speed against the PROFIBUS communication. But the result was different: The cycle time of e.g. 2ms for the OB1 still exists. Even with big time effort trying to create new cycle calculations and taking all tricks into consideration it was not possible to control a periodically flashing LED in the way that the text on the rotating slice can be read clearly.

Application with SLIO and ETS function via PROFIBUS: By means of the FIFO memory which is integrated in the SLIO ETS modules, the ETS modules are able to store the time of the impulse in μs. This value gets via Profibus assigned to the PLC. Using this value the PLC calculates the speed and time when the writing is at the preferred position and sends this information via PROFIBUS to the SLIO ETS output clamp. The output clamp now turns the LED on and off, so the LED sends out a light signal for 10μs the required time.

MCC-MEMORY CONFIGURATION CARD

The MCC can’t be exchanged to a MCC with the same memory configuration, but it can be used for the project backup (Copy RAM > ROM). The shown MCC memory value increases the already available basic memory of the CPU by the value of the card. However, the whole memory shown of the CPU can’t be overridden, even if a bigger memory extension is plugged in.

VIPA MCC offers the possibility to extend the RAM of SPEED7 CPUs. The MCC is an especially prepared MMC (multimedia Card). MCC-MEMORY CONFIGURATION CARD VIPA MCC offers the possibility to extend the RAM of SPEED7 CPUs. The MCC is an especially prepared MMC (multimedia Card). By putting the MCC in the MCC slot and activating the master reset the suitable memory extension becomes available. The MCC must remain plugged in, otherwise the CPU switches to STOP after 48h. The MCC can’t be exchanged to a MCC with the same memory configuration, but it can be used for the project backup (Copy RAM > ROM). The shown MCC memory value increases the already available basic memory of the CPU by the value of the card. However, the shown CPU memory can’t be overridden, even if a bigger memory extension is plugged in.

TIP RADIOTECHNOLOGY FOR BUILDING AUTOMATION EnOcean is a radio system without any power supply which was developed in 2001 by the company EnOcean. Based on the short signal duration of 0.5ms and 10mW transmitting power the radio transmission technology has a very low power demand of only 50 µ Ws. At this rate, the system uses energy from the smallest changes of pressure or temperature

for the electricity supply of the sensors. The range of the sensors reaches up to 300m distance outside. Also, every transmitter receives a 32bit address as ID during production. The modules use the internationally admitted SRD frequency band with 869 MHz. Primary use of EnOcean applications is the building automation, because switches and sensors can be used without cable and batteries and are available in the normal switch program of leading manufacturers. VIPA EnOcean radiotransmitter can receive and process sensor signals and also send commands. To achieve a high range it’s recommended to use the magnet base aerial and the mounting of the aerial outside of the panel.

VISUALIZATION OPERATOR SYSTEMS TD/OP-Textpanels VIPA TEXT DISPLAY The TD03 is a small, compact text display for showing messages about current working conditions, for changing process parametres and setting flags with the built-in buttons. An S7®-MPI port can be used to connect it to all Siemens

S7-300/400® PLCs and VIPA series 100/200/300V PLC´s. The configuration is done with the VIPA TD-Wizard. The generated parameters and data blocks are directly loaded in the PLC. The TD itself contains no project data.

VISUALIZATION WEB-VISUALIZATION netLINK SCADA – Pluggable S7® Web Visualization With it’s integrated web server netLINK SCADA visualizes and controls data of a SIMATIC-S7® by using a common web-browser. The plug is directly mounted onto the MPI or PROFIBUS interface of the PLC or is connected anywhere to the networks along the bus line. By its ethernet socket it is straightaway linkable to the existing office/plant ethernet network. Whether it’s a machine-close installation at a control panel, mobile via a hand held or world wide over the internet, by the used web technology netLINK SCADA integrates seamlessly into all established IT structures easily.With netLINK SCADA the classic separation of controller and visualization unit is a thing of the past. The connector’s unique design form merges both systems together without any need of further space in the cabinet or additional installation material. The PROFIBUS/MPI communication signals are fed through, making the connector transparent in the network to enable line network topologies still. The connector is power supplied either directly from the PLC via the DSub connector or externally by additional 24V. The whole visualization project inclusive all graphics is stored on the plug permanently and is made available via FTP/HTTP web standards. ETHERNET, FIELDBUS & TELESERVICE TELESERVICE Industrial LAN/Modem-Router Infrastructure The EWON Devices can be bound fast and directly about 2G/3G or WAN/DSL to company networks. Furthermore, the Talk2M function connects to the EWON T2M-server independently via a save VPN connection. The connection setup uses HTTP and then switches to HTTPS working in the same way like a PC with Internet browser. The system can be thereby used where a normal Internet access is possible. No changes are necessary in the IT configuration, firewall or with the mobile radio provider. EWON manages the necessary connecting servers and backup systems. A highly professional administration and support team provides a worldwide availability round-the-clock 24 hours / 7 days a week.

The whole package includes 3 free of charge programs that allow for a comfortable setup and establish a connection from the equipment to the Internet.

Clever auxiliary programs support the first setup and the running work with the eWON system.

eBuddy: This program fixes the IP addresses, saves the configuration and can update the firmware. eWON Configurations wizard: This program is part of the operating system in the eWON device, leads by the setup of the Internet connection and the VPN connection with the T2M server and informs the user by a detailed test run.

eCatcher: This program sets up the saved VPN connection of the PC to the T2M server and offers a comfortable management console for all associated eWON devices and users.

Plug’n Route: This program is part of the operating system in the eWON device and allows establishing a TCP/IP connection to devices like PLCs within the LAN without configuration of a gateway or router address.

With eWON I can immediately see what's happening in the production right on my Smartphone!

M2Web: With every web browser on PC or Smartphone eWON devices can be reached via the T2M server. With this it is possible to operate the eWON-configuration pages and customised web pages using the eWON device over a save connection.

CONVERTERS USB-SERIAL USB-Serialconverters furthermore allow the use of devices with serial interface, even if the PC owns no or not enough COM interfaces. A virtual COM port which is compatible with existing programs without update is generated by the provided driver. The converters contain 128 bytes FIFOs and can be set to any transfer speeds up to 921.600Bps.

Ethernet-Serial converters allow an easy decentralised construction of serial connections. Changes of existing software are not necessary. The provided drivers generate virtual COM ports in every operating system which behave like real COM interfaces. The serial data stream will transmit bidirectional and with evey handshake line via TCP/IP in the standard Ethernet.

ETHERNET, FIELDBUS & TELESERVICE PROTOCOL CONVERTERS Ethernet / Fieldbus, Ethernet / MPI, Serial / Fieldbus Protocol converters allow fieldbus connections for devices with serial or Ethernet interface. Free ASCII communication can be converted like the standardised protocols 3964R, ModbusRTU, ModbusTCP, RFC1006. The conversion is done to the desired

fieldbus, for serial protocols normally as slave, and for Ethernet converter mostly as a fieldbus master. The configuration software allows a comfortable setting of all parameters via RS232 and Ethernet. On standardised protocols the complete communication

commands were parametrizised to put the results in defined peripheral word ranges on the fieldbus. The PLC receives finished processed data, the protocol is executed in the gateway.

UNIVERSAL FIELDBUS GATEWAY NT 30/NT 40 The NetTAP is a modular, universal gateway with two interfaces for the connection of field devices and fieldbus systems. Beside the standard fieldbus connections like PROFIBUS, DeviceNet and CANopen RS 232 or RS 422/485 also Ethernet is available. Every netTAP can be equipped, in addition, with an extended memory for the backup and reactivation of the configuration. ETHERNET, FIELDBUS & TELESERVICE PROTOCOL CONVERTERS Ethernet / Fieldbus, Ethernet / MPI, Serial / Fieldbus The netTAP gateway family simply and efficiently merges two protocols into each other. Whether it’s a simple serial bus, a classic Fieldbus or one of the many Real-Time-Ethernet protocols, netTAP provides a common platform for a transparent conversion of any protocol of industrial automation. For plants recently upgraded using Fieldbus or modernized

with Real-Time-Ethernet, netTAP enables the use of existing and proven field devices still by simply interfacing between the new and old technology. The modular device design combines the two network interfaces in a DIN-rail mountable housing. NetTAP is configured and diagnosed by a universal FDT/DTM based configuration tool suite.

LED indicators are visualizing status information for rapid on-site diagnostics. The protocol-conversion are pre-programmed and loaded as firmware onto the device on demand. Because of the same physical network interface all Real-Time-Ethernet protocols can be managed by one single device variant.
